I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this video. I love Marco Island and it was very cool to see the way it was back then. When I was younger my Father would go down every year for the winter and stay about 4 months. I would always go down on spring break. After about 15 years of him going to Marco he started going to Cabo for the winter. I was a little upset because to me Marco was it!!! Some of my best memories with my dad are on Marco. He passed away a year ago in January. That March we went down and stayed 2 weeks and it really made me feel closer to him. We went to all the places we used to visit together. The snook inn, the sand bar and so on. I hadn't been down in over 10 years and even though it's changed a little it was still very much the same. Marco will always hold a very special place in my heart and one day I hope to live there.

Thanks for sharing. That would have been the best years to have been on Marco Island. I could see how there were very few houses back then. A paradise lost to over population.

Marco 2022: overbuilt by the mid 70's, no public beaches, aging condo buildings [40+ years old] the fishing sucks, even the fierce mosquitos have died off. A classic example of what greedy developers can do to Florida.
It's a shame that Monroe County didn't learn from this disaster, after Marco/Sanibel were built out developers then moved into the Keys and trashed them too.
Tourists know this: when you come to South FL to party, it's you, not us that are going to get fucked over. This is how we keep our taxes down.
