So what happens when two of the greatest creators in all of horror combine forces for their very own anthology film? One of the best out there, of course! So join us as we cover George A Romero and Stephen King's Creepshow.

SERIES SYNOPSIS: Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?

This was the one of the first horror movies I watched, when I was four, along with Jaws and Halloween II. My sister and I watched it on VHS on a bunk bed, and when the arm pops out of the grave in the first segment, we both jumped and hit our heads on the ceiling, and started laughing. I loved it! My mom kind of regrets allowing us to watch such films so early, but I’m glad she did.

I never even saw the last segment until I was in my twenties! Creepshow 2 was the first “R” rated movie my parents let me see in theaters. I think I was twelve or thirteen. Just turned 40 yesterday
funny they make it look like the source material with comic panel frames, the shadow lighting, and several animated sequences
It's also got crazy over-the-top camera angels too
The first story is just to get things started, the second is less scary but more tragic but also funny how they make vegetation into an epidemic, the third takes a comedic actor like Nielsen and makes him terrifying given his actions yet shows the comeuppance of infidelity and revenge, the fourth one is a bit more inspired as it deals with plenty of suspense built up and keeping the monster hidden until it reveals itself properly, and the fifth story is actually the most memorable as it goes for shock value and deals with a general fear of insects everyone can relate to
The stories play on our most unusual sources of fear but not without being comical
For horror fans it's so much fun
The fact that the filmmakers emulate the horror comic stories shows how much they love them
Some stylish shot compositions and flashy colors help sell the kooky fun nature as well as the tongue-in-cheek tone
This is one of my favorite anthology films next to Tales from the Crypt, Tales from the Darkside, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Cats Eye, and Nightmares
You'll forget that this is 2 hours cause of how much zany it is
The ending also serves as a great bookend
A film that's kinda dicey on a narrative level but silly to a degree that it entertains striking a nice balance and humor and horror

We’d see it every practically every October on WPIX’s Shocktober marathon week in the late 80’s. But it wasn’t until I saw it on TNT or TBS in the late 90’s or 2000’s that I found out Howard Hughes-inspired cockroach story, which I guess was cut out of TV broadcast versions… FOR GOOD REASON lol. Man! Let me tell you, I could take everything else that movie had to throw at me. But the moment though 6 legged bastards started erupting out of every part of the main character’s body, my skin… was… crawling! Lol

I didn't know who Stephen King is when I first watched this movie as a kid (turned 16 in 1982). I thought his acting was lousy ("over the top" went over my head back then), but still found that Jody character enjoyable to watch. I felt "sorry" for Stephen King thinking this guy was never going to get another acting job. LMAO when I think of that now. 🤣

I don’t know about you guys but I really wanna see that 3 hour cut, I usually end up preferring directors cuts even if most people say they’re too long, long ass masterpiece is still a masterpiece, you can watch Netflix or Disney + for 13 hours straight or whatever, you can definitely sit through a 3 hour movie, most of y’all did that for endgame and didn’t even blink 🤷‍♂️

@@chestercopperpot777 yeah you’re not wrong, plus I live in Aus so the dvd/blue ray distribution is a joke, had to spend $60 to import a copy of Kong: Skull Island on blue ray from Britain because 2 years after it came out no major outlet in Australia had it on blue ray and only one had it on DVD, still waiting on Pearl to get any kind of release here and it’s been out on physical in the US for like 3 months 😕 so even if a movie gets released odds are I’ll have to import a copy, it’s so bad I spent $130 on a region free blue ray player just cause I was buying American region movies at Australian stores just to get some of the movies for my collection, utterly ridiculous

Because we all know that straight to video abomination in name only was not an official creep show movie. Look, I may completionist. If I like a franchise or a series, I get every bit of it. And I am one of the biggest creepshow lovers you will ever meet. It's a groundbreaking film for tons of reasons and a classic for tons more. But creepshow 3 does not exist to me. I refuse. So, Shudder, will you give us a proper creepshow 3? Like I said, the series is stellar, but we need one more movie!
