@@markusseppala6547 hey Markus, small world 😀, I have been following Max since sometime now, like the way he explains abt his rides...honest he is about his pros n cons while riding...its a delight to watch him progress...😎
Thanks for the Bikeporn! 😁 Loved it! Really, you captured the essence of the art that is building a bike. Very well done and a great pleasure to watch. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Cracking bike Max and a great video! It was very therapeutic and mesmerising to watch with that music. Merry Christmas to you and all the best for 2024.
Nice clean build🙂 I commented on another video earlier, but meant to comment on this one! To my excuse it was in the middle of the night after to much wine 😂
Nice build Max. Also shows that it is not exactly rocket science! Few specialist tools required but to some degree worth the expense to gain the knowledge. 6/10 for the tape wrap though... since you have cut the tape, you will need to insert a straight bit to mask the shifter clamps. Totally acceptable, and the small cut offs are often supplied with the tape for this reason. You wont have enough tape left to do it with a figure of eight technique though so just re-wrap as is and insert a straight piece under the wrap etc. ... ok 7/10 as your wrap is very nicely spaced !! On the fork wedge/clamp /insert thingy for the bars, make sure you use some grip paste, and it often needs a couple of more Nms. What can happen here is that it can slip up very slightly in the fork tube after a few rides and release the preload on the headset, you will then feel slight play in the headset when the front brake is held on. The grip paste helps keep the Nms down when trying to prevent this. (You may have done this but watch out for it) Really nice build Max.
@@thewattlife yep exactly, it adds more grip which gives the recommended torque setting a chance of actually working. Still think I had to nip mine up a little more.
Really great bike my frame is on the way. Will be installing Dura Ace and Ultegra mechanically. What mount does the seat clamp have: 7X7mm round or 7X9mm oval?
Hi, very nice build and everything went very well together (the components and the overal aesthettic of the bike). But I saw your fork came shortened, is this default from the factory or you cut it before hand. Thanks :D
I measured it up with the spacers that i wanted and then i went down my local bike shop and asked them to cut it for me. I've vut my own previously but i didnt have any fresh blades on hand
Hey , How is ride quality of this amazing bike ? Do we find any difference to western brands ? Like tarmac SL7 (my current bike) etc. tbh, I'm not much fussed about it and just want to hear your opinion. I ride the bike to maintain/improve my fitness and don't do racing etc.
The weather in the UK is horrible so i havent had a chance to get out and really ride it yet. Although i can say the frame is made from T800 Carbon fibre which i dont think is as high quality as the SL8 S-words but i know the Pro and Elite models have a slightly lower quality carbon fibre. I wouldnt imagine it would compete but like you said, im a recreational guy who likes to turn up and smash the odd sportive (and hopefully crit race) so i dont think it will make a lot of difference to me. Will definitely do a video review on it once ive had a chance to take it out a whole bunch
@@thewattlife Thank you. I've thought the same as you and may be it's hard to feel any difference between SL7/8 vs this frame for peeps like me and may not even notice any difference. As long as it doesn't crash, it's abs fine. As we know the SL8 frame costs £4500 and roval handle bar is £475, we could get a complete bike with SRAM red build much less than frame cost and enjoy the ride.;-) I own SL7 pro and it works totally fine and I'm just recreational cyclist and don't race at all. Yeah, I live close to London and weather is not great and stick to zwift indoor atm.
Amazing video and I'm considering the same build. Could you please let me know your height and frame size you bought. What is the bottom bracket you used with SRAM force GS. Anything specific do we need to think about. I'm 175 cm long and considering size (M) (5'6 -5'10) and how many hours does it take to build the whole bike once you've got the components in space ? I'm trying to find out labour charge as well. Thanks for such a nice content.
Making a whole video on this this week- where I’ll detail everything you need to do to put this bike (but also other disc brake bikes) together on your own without a shop. But here’s the details: T1550 size Large. SRAM Force Group set Bb86 Token Ninja bb 10-33 cassette 380 width. 95mm length bar/stem I’m 181cm so 5’11” Cranks 172.5mm
Took my half a day but would have been quicker if I didn’t have to film it. If you’re going to run a SRAM group set you’ll need a SRAM XDR hub body for your wheel
@@thewattlife Thank you so much. It's good info for now. I'll order a medium frame as I want a bit upright (not aero) and then order sram force slowly. I'm going to follow the steps. Thanks again.
@@thewattlife Thanks. I'll order the frame now and it'll take 4 weeks to arrive and hope you'll be able to complete all the build videos by then. Looking forward all the info.
@@thewattlife - Yeah I've got the current wheel set I'm using tarmac SL7 running force GS. That should be fine and I don't need to purchase wheels and can swap between both bikes
Oh i see what you mean, there is grease inside the drive side of the crank which the crank axel sits into, so it might not look like theres much grease on the end of the axel. Sram / @jscycles send them over pre-greased.

so much effort goes into all that n then the editing and patience...well done mate, short but satisfying built 👏👍

I feel like it should be its own Cat in a race- like, is my stem going to pop off?! Are my cranks still attached?!? Definitely builds the anxiety lol
Great video and a lovely bike 😍 am always nervous making changes to my bike but it shows that if you take your time you can do anything 👍 Merry Xmas 🎅

The frame delivery package includes both mounting options. you can install any of your choice: round or oval

Bar tape is from Burgh- @burghcycling burgh.cc/collections/bar-tapes/

No grease on the crank axle? Bar tape wrap needs some work.
There is definitely grease on the crank axel. Bar tape doesn’t have a separate piece covering the claps but we *might* change that.
