Do You Have Kibbe Width?
Vložit
- čas přidán 4. 06. 2024
- Kibbe Width is a Kibbe body types concept which is part of the natural types: Flamboyant Natural and Soft Natural. Finding whether or not you have width can help you narrow down and find your Kibbe body type. Many of the most beautiful celebrities have width in their frame, and yet many physical features associated with width like broad shoulders and wide ribcages have a stigma around them.

I have created a free QUIZ to go along with this video, check it out here: www.bodyandstyle.com/do-you-have-width-quiz
Hiya, this isn't working for me. It links to a colour analysis page instead?
@@lucyelstonsoprano whoops I linked the wrong page! All fixed now, just do the form from the start and you’ll get the right link x
@@elliejeanroyden Hi and thanks for this explaining video ! Following the link I had to sign to the newsletter to access the quiz but then the link on "click HERE" doesn't work for me, like literally nothing is happening... is it just me ?
@@candypanda9577 I just tested on my devices and it’s working! I did fix a slight layout problem so you could try now ♥️
Another great video, thanks Ellie Jean! I’d love a video all about frame dominance versus curve dominance versus balance. As a Dramatic Classic, I have mildly broad shoulders, but not width in my upper back. I don’t know how to dress for my shape because I have some Yang influence, but what to do about balance?
I would LOVE a series on all the "kibbe words!" Width, vertical, petite, curve, ect. If we can nail these down, we can much more easily understand the overall concepts of the types.
Yes please! I’d love a video comparing and explaining all of it: frame dominance, curve dominance, balance, curve-from-flesh, blunt bones versus angular
It's like there's Kibbe grammar - phrases like "have petite" or "have vertical."
I was going to leave this same comment! Yes, please! 😊
Yes please!!!! 'Delicate' is the one that stumps me. Does it mean fragile and birdlike, or is it just the opposite of 'width'?
@@chrissy1510 yes this would be interesting ! Delicate, petite, etc.
Um... You just saved my fashion life. I'm not even joking. Being 5'0" and athletic rather than delicate, I assumed I was a flamboyant gamine, but I'm definitely width dominant with broad shoulders and a wide rib cage. 🤯 What's funny is that I HATE the way gamine styles look on me and feel like I'm playing dress-up. I've always been drawn to natural styles. Three cheers for intuition!
I love this video and that you emphasize that natural isn't like... the ugly category, which i think unfortunately a lot of people have started treating it as. As a fellow SC i would love a video about balance if you're explaining kibbe terms! It's a hard one to grasp sometimes.
Who says Natural is the ugly category??? Flamboyant Natural is the category of the 90's supermodels. People who critizise the Natural category might be just jealous 😂!
I am 5' 8" that is a blend of Hourglass and Triangle. My shoulders are the widest part on me. My body is fairly balanced with my hips pulling a close second, that are still smaller than my shoulders, and my waist is significantly smaller than both. This video did help clarify a bit more about the width that I have and how that relates to type. I feel like I definitely have kibbe width. I have to size up to fit shoulders and arms (I have long arms), my shoulders literally look like a clothes hanger. I figured that I have width in my ribcage by looking at the width in my back. I have a somewhat large bust so its a bit hard to see from the front. But when you look at me from behind, my back looks huge, broad, wide, all that, lol. I do feel like I am one step closer to having all of my questions answered and being 100% certain about where I fall in Kibbe.
I’ve watched these videos for about a year now and all I hear is “this is what it is but also it’s this and this and sometimes this but just because it’s this doesn’t mean it’s never that and some people think it’s this and some people think it isn’t”
I would love to see broad shoulders+dramatic classic topic to be more explored 😭
Me too!
Same. I have conventionally broad shoulders as a DC and I've never heard any kibbe CZcamsr talk about it 😢
Me too. I have obvious width in my shoulders and I’m moderately tall but I lack a lot of other FN traits. I usually end up incorporating tips for FN and DC but it would be helpful to nail down the differences between the two.
this was really helpful! As a 5'2 SN I only ever saw draping as a boho style which is not my essence at all. so to see other examples where we can flow and drape anywhere in our outfit really helps broaden the options and accommodate my flower and fire essence in it!
Omg so true! Im SN but somehow look undone when going casual. Like, just flat, plain jane 😂
I personally identify as a FN Business Goth (moon, mountain, and stone, if you go by Ellie-Jean's style roots system). I'm very curvy for a FN and also feel like I look terrible in oversized, drapey garments, so I tend to favor styles that err more on the SD side to emphasize my waist, which of course you're not supposed to do as a FN because the vast majority of FNs don't have hourglass figures. One way I found to incorporate the flowing, drapey garments they typically recommend for naturals is to wear an outfit that's otherwise catered to my personal tastes (typically a fitted top w/ slacks or an A-line skirt or dress) with the addition of a pashmina or a soft, draped vest or cardigan, depending on the weather. I've built up a sizeable pashmina collection now, as they're very affordable and available at both hippie festivals and on Amazon. It is just incredible how much they've expanded my wardrobe by providing alternate styling options for many of my staple pieces. I could see that strategy working really well for soft naturals, too. Hope that helps! ❤
thank you so much! I will definitely try to work that into my outfits.@@overthinkingkpop
Boho doesn’t really work too well on SN, more on FN
Thank you for explaining that width with no curve is FN even if you don’t have a long vertical line. I had been struggling with that! At 5”5’, I’m not all that tall. But I definitely don’t have Kibbe curve. This was so helpful!
This was SOOOO helpful! I was typed (by you! 😉) as a soft natural and have really struggled with the idea of “width”. Loved how you broke it down and showed examples!
Totally agree on the point about this system working for dressmaking! I sew my own clothes, and always have to do what's called a broad shoulder adjustment to accommodate comfortable arm movement when wearing the garment, and so the shoulder seam falls at the furthest horizontal point of my shoulder, which allows the sleeve to drape properly. It's also one of the (many) reasons why ready-to-wear clothing doesn't usually fit me... If I get the proper size to fit my torso / bust, then chances are it will be significantly too small across the shoulders. And if I size up to fit me across the shoulders, then it ends up being oversized in the torso.
I was stuck between a SC, TR, and SN for the longest time. When I took a good look at myself I found that I have width, but it’s not in my shoulders. I’m overweight but I don’t look soft and fleshy like a romantic. I’m stocky; I’m literally thick. And *that’s* what I accommodate for. Absolute game changer.
Yes yes yes!! This video confirmed so many things for me! I’ve been typed as a kibbe soft classic, which never felt quite right, and I’ve always felt so much better in soft natural lines, and this is why! You even covered why I don’t hate that one turtleneck with the spacious, draped feel to it, but I feel choked in a more standard turtleneck. Ahh so good!!
This is so helpful! Being 6 feet tall, I feel like the first quality anyone ever sees in me is vertical and for so long I kept classifying myself as a dramatic, but I don’t ever see “myself” in photos of other dramatics. This video helped me confirm what I have suspected for some time now which is that I’m likely a flamboyant natural…not a dramatic! Us tall girlies are more than just tall sometimes hah! Now I feel like finding flattering clothing that honors and works WITH my body is so simple! THANK YOU!
I remember you mentioning a full video on width in one of your CZcams Shorts. Great to see that it's here now! This is also helpful for trying to practice by typing other people in order to get better.
You are so good at explaining and synthesizing the kibbe ideas!! ❤ Thank you!!
Thank you for this video! I have wide ribcage but my shoulders are quite narrow and sloped (I always struggle with bags falling down off of them). Now I'm almost sure I'm a soft classic
Thank you for this explanation, it really clarified that I am a soft natural, as I was teetering between a soft classic. It makes sense why soft classic lines look so stuffy or disproportionate on my body
This was great. Actually when I finally understood that I didn't have width that actually helped narrow down the choices as well. You're explanation on petite was also very helpful.
Thanks! The way you explained width and the openness and/or flowing that works with it was really helpful.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I am almost positive that I am SN and it’s been a struggle because I have always been insecure of my broad shoulders but seeing more content like this makes me feel more accepting and confident of myself ❤
This is exactly the info I needed! I've been going back and forth for a while between classic and natural and I think this lands me solidly in the natural category!
Thank you so much for this! I’ve thought for a while now that I have width, and I think I’ve confirmed it after seeing this video. Extremely helpful, especially since Kibbe himself is often unclear on these concepts.
The first celebrity I thought of who has width is Florence Pugh, and she's gorgeous. I don't know if she's certified by Kibbe but to me she looks like a Soft Natural
I'm finding more and more as I watch your videos and experiment with my clothing that open necklines are key for FN and anyone with width. I used to wear moderate scoop neck t-shirts because that was the easiest to neckline to find, but man! All I look for now is deep-v, dramatic scoop neck, off the shoulder, boat neck, cowl neck etc... literally anything that gives visual room around my shoulder/chest area. They just look so much better on me than anything else! Thanks for the videos. Looking forward to more quality content ❤
The more I learn about kibbe, the more confused I become.
Loved it! So many ‘aha!’ moments I found in this video! I was happy mostly to find out that all the lines of clothes I tend to find flattering on me the most, were all gathered here magically.
I was FINALLY able to figure out my kibble body type thanks to this video - with width and curve I’m a soft natural. Thank you so much for your content! It’s made such a difference to my personal style and how I buy clothes to build my wardrobe. ❤
woah my first time commenting here (and as the first comment!) wanna thank you ellie for introducing me to Kibbe body types :D really fun to find these differences in beauty, especially in our bodies.
I have literally been trying to find an explanation on this so this is perfect timing!
That sweater is perfect on you…
Fits like a glove, colors are spot on and the little bear 🐻 is so whimsical
I was trying and failing to explain this concept just the other day to a friend I recently introduced to Kibbe. I'm a curvy flamboyant natural with very sharp, angular shoulders and the classic triangular upper back, so I was trying to utilize myself as an example. After watching this video again, I am pretty certain that my friend is a soft natural, as she had the broadness but with much more softness and roundness to it. Thanks for your always phenomenal content! I just started this new channel but I've been following you on my old account for quite some time. I think you've had a bigger impact on my personal style than any creator I follow. I'm so grateful for your analytical approach because it resonates with me so much more than the more blatantly subjective takes favored by a lot of other personal style channels.
Excellent presentation. Thank you!💐
Thanks for this video I am glad you gave examples of how to accommodate width
Thank you, this is so informative! I think it's also important to mention that width will always be there, no matter if you lose or gain weight. I'm a SC but I always thought that when I gain some weight, my upper arms/shoulders become "wider". But actually, they just became a bit fleshier. When I lose weight, this "width" goes away and my upper body has no width to it or stand out. With Models, who are mostly FNs,the width of their shoulders stand out even hen they're extremely skinny.
I thought I might be a soft natural, but I am actually a soft classic! I found that natural lines overwhelmed me, and I am actually a lot more balanced. My self perception is not objective at all, and I do not actually have the width I see in myself
I love the sweater! I've looked at some videos by some others and really like that you separate the face from the body type. I'm pretty sure my body is soft natural and my kirtchener essence is quite different.
Solid advice. I'm looking at your examples for people with width, and I realise that these are exactly the sleeves and necklines that work for me, and explains why others don't. I think I'm either FN or SN. My problem is always the shoulders and upper back, and I need to accommodate them with every garment.
This was extremely helpful thank you
I've never really thought i had width and that comment about sizing up in a jacket confirmed it- as i either size down in jackets or try to find the most fitted option that works w/ my curves but doesn't drown my shoulders.
I never understood why some people treat width as something undesirable. I think it looks athletic and badass.😅 I love both my vertical and width.
So, so helpful as always! ❤ Ive always found the area wear sleeves start the most constricting on any garment I personally think Im an SN, loose fitting jumpsuits with a belted waist (wear the belts the same colour) always seems to look best on me.
I've always thought I was Soft Natural because I have broad shoulders. Now I'm realizing I'm more likely Soft Gamine. I've never had to accommodate for my shoulders - for coats, I actually typically need to size down from my normal clothing size to accommodate for my smaller frame. This explanation is so helpful! I've always had the association that broad shoulders = Soft Natural, and I feel like a lot of people on reddit push that narrative.
This is just helping to solidify that I’m a soft natural! ❤😊
This series is so helpful, thank you!
One thing I've been thinking a lot about is HIP DIPS lol. Do they have any correlation with certain body types??
This was so helpful!!
Ellie, can you make a video about pros and cons or highlights of every color season and body types?
Would help us embrace our classification 😅
Can you talk more about width plus shorter height. Unfortunately the most fn videos are aimed at width plus long vertical line.
This was so helpful! I have always thought I had width because I have broad shoulders and I wondered how I could possibly have width if I also have petite (I am 4’11” and very much look as such). This helped me realize I do not have width. Thank you for explaining stuff so concisely and in a way that is digestible.
Do you think you're a flamboyant gamine then?
Hi, fellow 4’ 11” person! 😊
Can you do a tutorial on how you style your hair? It looks so pretty :)
Great vid !!! Could you pleaseeee explain balance ? Im supposed to be DC but have a hard time seeing it in me or even others and it makes it difficult to "accomodate". Maybe the "extremes" are easier to spot, but I havent seen much content on this :(
I'm a soft natural and my width is very visible especially from behind. My go to for accommodating is button-down blouses and off the shoulder tops. They go so well with my body.
Can you do a video on figuring out if you have petite accommodation?
Do you speed up your videos? It it feels like they are sped up but I’m here for the relaxed experience ❤
That's me! My upper body frame is visually the most dominant in my body. My regular size for tops doesn't fit my shoulders, I need one size above to accommodate them. This makes it a bit complicated as I need a "waist emphasis" as a Soft Natural but when I size up, it often looks too roomy because a lot of garments nowadays are straight cut.
this is absolutely my struggle -- especially with stiffer denim or leather jackets, my shoulders dont fit unless i go up at least 2 sizes and then it gapes over the rest of my torso.
I have very broad shoulders and a huge rib cage. The difference between my top and bottom has been as much as 2 sizes. What I like about the Kibbe system is “accommodating” one’s body, and not trying to hide or balance it. I get really tired of certain influencers telling me my body is somehow flawed. It’s not.
So excited to dive into this! I’ve always been told I need to dress to make my hips look less wide but I’ve never understood why. I love my curves and wide hips. Why fight it?
This was so interesting! I’ve found the opposite problem for me where I need to size down for the shoulders to fit but that sometimes doesn’t fit my bust (always an issue with button ups)…. I’m a bit sad because i love flowing sleeves and flowing fabrics, but they almost never look right on me and I think I just have to accept I don’t have the frame to help them drape properly
Oh my goodness, this made so much sense! My shoulders are wider than my hips and I always have to size up shirts and coats to fit my shoulders and long arms. They're very straight, no slope or curve. But I'm tall and slim with long, slender limbs, and very delicate bones, so I don't look wide or broad and I always wondered if I was a dramatic. The descriptor of "frame dominance" makes so much sense...it is my frame, not my flesh, that really dominates my appearance. I think I might be a flamboyant natural and not a dramatic. I feel awful in the tailored, structured clothes designed for dramatics.
Having width and double curve I think makes me a soft natural but I can pull of some sharpness as long as it has some soft lines . The vertical line helped to as I'm only slightly long
Thank you for this. I am typed as a pure naturel with lots of classic answers for my face, so I have problems with necklines. My face look good with classic necklines so what to do?
I know I'm FN now but I was SO confused about my type for years. I think my width and vertical just kind of balanced each other out in my mind, which meant I couldn't see them and I thought I must be moderate/balanced. If I had just vertical, or just width, it would have been easier to see I think. It didn't help that my hips are just as broad as my shoulders, so confused-me was like "Am I curve dominant??" My ribcage also seems small between my shoulders and hips. After settling on FN, I've come to see that it's absolutely me. I think I was resistant to it for a long time. But since then I've realised I LOVE my lines! I really feel for people who struggle because it sucks to feel like you can't see your body properly or that there's something wrong with you because you don't fit into the system. I hope everyone can find their type!
Ok but that Chan's pic 😭
@@Lillyroseme yeahh I needa change it tbh, makes me miss his lives 😔
What about the soft dramatic body type?
@@sihamel5721 I did consider SD at first, but my shoulders aren't narrow... Plus I basically have no softness 🥲
So, how you difer dramatic classic from FN? I am always between them. I refer to no so easy cases. For example, for me is easy to see wisth on charlize theron, but not so easy on katy perry or gwyneth paltrow.
I'm a DC and if I wear boat necklines or broad open necklines I look so unbalanced and I never liked it. I have a slightly broad rib case and shoulders. Thanks for your vids 💜
That's really interesting! I am debating whether or not I'm a FN or DC. Had the group on Facebook Freely Kibbe weigh in and tell me I look like a DC. But I feel my best and most confident on boat necks and space around my neck and shoulder area. Food for thought!!
do you have any videos for how a soft gamine can accommodate petite and double curve? that’s always been challenging for me.
I love Katy Perry's style, I'm also a soft natural so it's cool that I could use her as a style icon for myself !
Kibbe alors said that looping attention the seem of your shoulders is à key to see if you have width
I've always loved my wide shoulders (not so much ribcage, but it's growing on me)
So width at the hips contributes more to curve? Do I have this correct?
i had the hardest time figuring out whether or not i was a soft classic or a soft natural, but ultimately i decided on soft natural because i feel like ive always had a broader ribcage and shoulders and because my mom thought a bikini pic of scar jo was a pic of me from vacation so thanks mom
I'm so confused, i can't figure out if I have balence or width. I think i'm either a dramatic classic or a soft natural but they're so different idk how i can't tell. What would be some key ways to determine which i am?
The shoulder line being the widest part of the body is true in terms of the bones, but with weight gain and more flesh covering those bones, the hips may actually become the widest point especially for FNs, who gain most excess weight at the lower half of their body. I have seen examples of FNs that think they are Ds or SD because of this misunderstanding. In these cases I think the squareness and broadness is still evident, but it can be harder to see it.
i find that i need to accommodate width, but i'm not sure if it's bc clothes in my part of the world is just cut for teeny tiny ppl (SEA) or if i truly have width since i'm exploring FG and DC, help?
Your nailpolish😮!
Could you type Hannah waddingwam? I think she might be flamboyant natural but she seems tricky!
I really love your videos but I would love them even more if you didn‘t speed them up! ❤️
Okay, now I’m definitely confused because I am team dress making 😂 I studied costuming where we needed to work with a lot of different body types.
I think I am a SD based on the example pictures of other women. I’m too tall (5 6 / 168cm) for romantic and classic, I have very sharp shoulders and a sharp hourglass figure ( definitely no curve) with a very pronounced difference between waist and hips but my rip cage is comparatively small ( 70cm). So I would look like a pear if it wasn’t for the shoulders. There’s no moderation in my frame but I do have a bigger chest and bum.
Maybe the dress making comparison works but at the moment I am rather confused 🙈
shoulders are definitely my widest part and look quite square but i don’t think i have blunt bones; they’re very slender and long..is this still flamboyant natural?
I still have trouble understanding what bodytype I could be.. According to sizing up because of shouders I do have width but my ribcage is tiny!! Only the shoulders are sligtly wider side but overall I dont look wide at all. My bones are delicate and waist is small
I’m still flitting between soft natural and soft dramatic I’m five ft seven so a bit of a cusper but this video now makes me think I don’t have width dominance its curve if the widest part is chest?
I have width and hate how flowing fabrics look on me. I need items to cinch in at the waist and I also can’t wear long skirts or wide leg pants. Does that mean I don’t actually have width?
Have you, or could you do a video about Camilla Cabello's kibbe type? I feel like her and i are similarl looking and im struggling to know what type i am 😅😢
I’m always between D, SD and FN (tall, and with long limbs) but having realistic perception of ourselves is so difficult.
I don’t think I have to accommodate frame… but I don’t think I look as narrow as most D’s or voluptuous as most SD’s.
When I wear clothes with open necklines they are usually “too wide” for me, I have to keep adjusting them falling all the time. Because of that I think I’m probably not a N after all (also, messy hair just makes me look, well, messy).
My cousin on the other hand, I’m almost sure she’s a SN, and she looks STUNNING, on wide necklines.
My mom too! Both of them have typically wide shoulders. However, my mom is tiny (small hands, feet, short limbs) so I’m almost sure she’s a FG!
Can I be a soft dramatic with width??? Coz I 100% have the shoulder things sheds talking about, but I’m definitely not a natural and I look rly poor in stuff like boatnecks
Is it width if you have broader shoulders but but blunt bones ?
i have broad shoulders, wide rib cage, hourglass shape but hip dips and i’m 4’10. i feel like everything works against eachother and it’s so confusing finding what complements everything
I love having broad shoulders! It makes me stronger than I look.
Is it possible to have width and bluntness ONLY in the ribcage and shoulders, while the rest of the bones of the body are small and dainty? I'm still a bit confused, because my broadness has always been very obvious to me, but I can hide it (somewhat) easily depending on how I dress... And look almost classic (even gamine).
Excellent video, by the way :)
You can have width (objective) and appear delicate (subjective). I'm a FN and can be quite fragile-looking, particularly when underweight, because I'm short (5'3) with prominent bones -yet people get very surprised at how wide I actually am at the shoulders 😂 My more delicate traits come from the dramatic undercurrent (sharp and narrow) from FN.
The thing is, many of us have a somewhat skewed perception of our own body. You might not be as broad as you think. Or maybe you are, and you're a Natural type that's closer to a Classic! There's some overlap between those types.
Not so much between Natural and Gamine, as width and petite can't coexist.
@@floralglitch Yeah, you are completely right about the skewed perception thing.
And there are also the misconceptions... I've been interested in these systems for years and still have doubts (well, also because I don't have a very sharp eye for these things despite the interest, tbh). I'm also quite short (the same height as you) and have always thought I have a romantic undercurrent rather than a dramatic one... But I guess I'm probably a FN or DC, because I'm not fleshy at all. Very interesting the thing about the overlap area between Natural and Classic.
Anyway, thanks for giving your perspective and experience, always helps :)
I’m FG, 5’1 , pretty small but I have MASSIVE shoulders! If I was tall it would look much more balanced
I definitely have width: Broad shoulders, hip bones and ribcage.
Thanks for answering some questions I’ve had about width! I am fairly certain I am a FN. I am around 5ft 8 in and my shoulders are the widest part of my body. If a jacket doesn’t fit it is due to the shoulders being to constricting. However, I have quite delicate bones. My neck, wrists and ankles are very slender. Would this be a sign I am not FN?
Thank you so much for all of your videos, they have made me feel a lot more confident and comfortable in my body. For the first time I am embracing my lines and my personal style ❤
I think I am a FN too, and I also have thin neck, wrists and anckles. My waist was never quite defined, even when I was like 10 kgs lighter.
Same here!! Hope we get an answer...
I'm also FN and have a pretty slender neck, wrists and ankles. I guess it's the Dramatic side coming out :)
@@kristengilbert9749 yeah that’s what I’m wondering, would we benefit from emphasizing or adding more sharpness to echo the dramatic side of our frame
Same here. I have slender limbs and joints, but I definitely have width in my shoulders, chest, waist. Kibbe is a spectrum. No one fits each ID perfectly. It’s whichever you identify with most. I identify most closely with FN, but occasionally wear Dramatic styles for fun.
I have wide hip small waist narrow shoulder. Well defined face... Pear shape... What I am soft classic or dramatic classic?
I kind of struggle to see if I have width or petit. Like, do I look short or broad in certain outfits. I can really see myself in the soft natural body type, but than again, romantic/theatrical romantic doesn't seem to be wrong either. Especially because a lot of the advice you get for dressing as an sn body type really feels wrong to me, for example the wide necklines you mentioned just make me look even broader than I am... Surely I can't be the only one having trouble with that :/
I have same problem, my shoulders look broad in some outfits. This “dress making” explanation help my decide I am romantic. When I want clothes to fit, I need to size up because of boobs and when they fit, shoulder seems aren’t on right place but on my arms. I think if you need to size up because your shoulders are tight in clothes but other parts of your body are Ok in smaller piece - you have width.
Well, if you feel dumpy in wide, relaxed necklines, you might not have kibbe width after all. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so if a natural style does not fit, write it off. My older relatives would swear up an down that I'm "clearly" a dramatic classic, but I just looked stuffed in in outfits that followed the recomendations for that type.
I KNOW I have width. I don't look broad, but I definitely have flat, square shoulders, and where fabric falls on my body definitely expresses width, BUT I used to actually go down a size in my tops, because I carried much less fat on my top half. I have a fairly wide waist, and I don't curve out in the double curve type way, but inwardly my thighs are huge if that makes sense. So the fat sits on my inner thighs but not outer. Meaning I would be a 10 in trousers because of my thighs, but 8 in tops, because although I'm broad, I don't carry any weight there. Postpartum and as I enter perimenopause, my boobs are now 2 cup sizes bigger, so my tops are now the same size as my bottoms (although some dresses, depending on cut) are too tight on the bottom, whilst fitting me up top. So every time you say that you know you have width if you have to go up a size in tops throws me off and I'm not sure if I've got myself all wrong
i’m confused. i thought i would have width because i have a wide and wide set face, but i don’t have broad shoulders and i have obvious petite in my frame to anyone in real life. how do i accommodate both?
What about wide but sloped shoulders?
im 5’3 pretty sure i have width but i dont look tall at all nor am i curvy . im so confusedd
I have broad shoulders and a strong upper back, but I'm veeeery long. Dramatic long.
I'm only 5'8", but I have the legs of someone 5'11" or above.
At the same time, I'm proportionate in photos or from a distance, but I come across in person as being taller than I am.
Even when I'm standing right in front of people, they think I'm taller than I am,
and I look best in the kind of long-lined, asymmetrical clothing that suits a Dramatic.
My partner is a true Kibbe dramatic.
I appear to be a soft dramatic, but I'm still a bit confused by it all - I'm long, but my muscle-mass has some blockiness to it, and I definitely have the curve associated with SD (I've locked in my face as SD, but my body seems to complicate matters due to dysphoria).
but when I look in the mirror, I see width.
I keep getting stuck in my own kibbe typing between some weird nexus of FN and DC. I absolutely have width in the shoulders (have to size up for anything with a closed back lol), but I'm told I have what is considered more "delicate dramatic" bone structure for the rest of my body.
At this point I am just trying styles on to see what is the most flattering and going from there.
Same, stuck between DC and FN. I have blunt and wide shoulders, but other than that I'm all DC.
@@jkv5332 Feel free not to answer if it is private, but I recently realized I am slightly hypermobile, which makes my joints sit "looser" in their sockets. As a result, different muscles than normal develop to "hold them in place." I think it is part of the reason I have highly developed shoulders (despite not being athletic) compared to the rest of my body proportions. (The same applies to why I probably have "fiddle hips," if you've ever heard of those). If you think you might be, this could potentially be a reason.
I think those of us with hypermobile body types may have a harder time fitting cleanly into the Kibbe system. Learning about the Kibbe system has actually made me finally LIKE myself and appreciate and understand all the features of my body more. I feel like understanding the principles he uses like curve, width, frame versus flesh, etc, have helped me so much more than the "apple pear rectangle" stuff in picking what to wear.
