Thank you! I'm about to buy an indoor trainer and wondered whether I should use its skewer or the one in my bike and your video answers my question. I also appreciate the advice to use the trainer skewer rather than one's own, to avoid damage.
I appreciate this demo but can anyone please explain what to do if my wheel's axel is THICKER than this and is NOT already a Quick Release?? I have spent hours trying to figure this out, instead of exercising!

Hi, can I leave in the supplied skewer for the Cycleops trainer when I'm training on the road or will I have to swap the skewer over each time?

It sounds like you might have a thru axle rather than a quick release. If so, CycleOps makes an adapter you'll need.
Same issue here - old 12 speed w/no quick release; here's a youtube that addresses changing out the skewer: czcams.com/video/gsdxS046jpo/video.html
