Thank you for the kind words! And being talked about among so many amazing and talented authors is a true honor.
I love Mark Bellomo's guides and have many of them on my own shelf. He's absolutely the standard in the medium and absolutely an inspiration for me.
Dan your book isn't just a terrific reference guide it's a piece of art worth of the MOTU line. It was obviously a labor of love for you.
When you get your next guide published, maybe we can get you to come on and show it off!
@@justindaniels2230 Thank you!!
@@Pegwarmers I'd love to!
Your book is fantastic! =D Cheers, Dan!
Just from the preview alone, I am already pumped for this episode.
Excellent...
@@Pegwarmers Congrats on the family expansion set being official!
Thanks @Punisher Knight! We had fun filming!
Great, fun episode! Always nice to see Penelope and Justin on the show! I dabbled in a few collector guides…had that Joe one with the 12” 90s figures on the cover! 😅. Had a Star Wars one that I highlighted everything in my collection, too. 😅. I think the only one I still have though is about Horror toys…which is definitely a must in my library!
Nice!
Thanks Fixxxer!!
Ahhh, great way to kick off the end of a work day. Always nice seeing Penelope and Justin!
Thank you!
Thank you Flail!!
I actually grew up reading and re reading Tomart's Encyclopedia and Price Guide to Action Figures the one that covers GI Joe to Star Trek. It was one of my favorite books
Yeah, If we do a Toy Guides II someday we will have to talk more about Tomart's.
Penelope and Justin should be guest on Hack the Movies!
Waiting on an invite!
Yasssssss
Excellent show as always. Thanks for coming on again Farpoint. Love seeing ya'll getting deep into toy talk.
Thanks for watching! I thought this made for a great toy topic without it being specifically about a toyline.
We shall return! Thanks for the kind words.
Fantastic episode. I love these types of collecting/art books. I had to buy the He Man book.
The He-Man is a good one to have!
We still need to pick one up!
Absolutely love your channel Kevin keep em coming brother 👍I have the 2nd edition of the MB GIJOE book and it's definitely a must have for any GIJOE collector.
Thanks Mike! You've been a loyal fan for a long time. Yeah, it's hard to be a Joe collector without owning the Joe Book.
I met Mark Bellomo at NJCC several years ago. We got into a conversation (first about his appearance on "The Toys that Made Us," then about Buckaroo Banzai, then about how people who talk about toys should try to be family friendly) and he ended up just giving me a signed copy of "Totally Tubular Toys." If I had known (1) that his books would shoot up in the aftermarket; (2) that I would be dipping my toes back into Joe, I would've bought his Joe guide. Even though I'm not a true Joe collector, I'd love that for fun and reference, but I can't afford it now.
I've had many awesome conversations with Mark ay Retro Con and NJCC over the years.
He was incredibly nice. He didn't have to give that away. He also made an effort to engage my mother (who was pushing the wheelchair) in the conversation. Very cool dude. Hope to meet him again some day.
Mark is amazing, one of my favorite humans!!!
Mark B is an awesome human.
Congratulations Kevin 👍
Thank you!!
God I would love an update toy guide for Transformers & GI Joe. Focus on Beast Wars, the Unicron Wars trilogy, GI Joe vs Cobra, Valor vs Venom, Renegades, Prime.... endless possibilities!
Yes, I like these guys as guests too, good they become somewhat regulars on it
The Farpoint Crew is rad!
Thank you!
Thanks Mum!!
Sorry I missed the premiere! Such a great episode. Definitely need some of those books you guys touched on.
Also, congratulations to you, Kevin, your wife and bonus kiddos! (And the pets 😄)
Thanks Tara!
No sweat, Tara! =D
You're right Kev! Paging through a book is always easier than trying to find stuff online
_"Is He-Man his thing?"_
😊
I got the Toys that Time Forgot vol.1 & 2. Still eagerly waiting for vol.3 and then the new Toy Collectr Magazine.
Not exactly guides either but great for prototypes, sketches, unproduced; Rad Plastic, Varner Studios Sketchbook, The Power and the Honor.
The large Sansweet Star Wars The Ultimate Action Figure Collection from 2012.
The 3x Tomart's Encyclopedia & Price Guide to Action Figure Collectables and hardcover pocket book.
3x Lee's Guides to Collecting Loose Figures.
Action Figure Collector by Verslag GMBH from 1997 is more well known in Europe as an early attempt.
I have a couple of totally random guides as well
Cartoon & Character Toys of the 50s, 60s & 70s, Greenberg's Guide to Super Hero Toys, Character Toys & Collectables, The DC Comics Action Figure Archive.
If anyone is interested: Flophouse films did this like mini docu, called Collectable Spectacle, about Mark Bellomo going trough his storage space and taking the photos for the Joe guide
Yeah, it's on CZcams in about 30 installments.
Oh snap, congrats on the married life, Kev!
Thanks!
The WWE Mattel Ultimate Edition is my Classified Slaugther. The 7 in scale makes him more imposing.
Yeah, I have a Mattel Sarge currently with my classified figures.
That's my Classified Slaughter too! Perfect scale.
The video really made me want to get some toy guides, I do have an old lego one, but pretty small
Sorry, not sorry.
Yay!
I know of a couple of people in the Thundercats collecting world who have mentioned they want to make a reference book, they have the collections to do so also.
That would be great if one of them did it!
Awesome episode!
I'm still hoping for a 4th print of the Mark Bellomo books.
I had the 3rd prints in my wishlists for a while for about $20 to $30 then they went way up...
I hope they reprint it eventually. Maybe the next time Hasbro tries to do a movie.
Sgt slaughter definitely one of my favorites
He's great
Kinda a modern thing, but I think we should get a Marvel Legends guidebook. Back when toybiz had the license, variants were insane. Some were canceled, some were exceptionally rare.
That just might be in the works...
I would LOVE that.
Great video I love gijoe and he man 😎👋
Awesome! Welcome to the channel.
Yeah farpoint
Yeah Jack!
Which guide do suggest I buy for my 3.75 inch Joe collecting that won't break the bank love the channel keep up the great content
I'd say whichever one you can get cheapest? Or hope for a 4th edition.
I would like a guide for M.A.S.K. Spawn and Starcom.
All great lines that I'd love to see guides for.
I joined hasbro pulse for the free shipping since everything is a preorder on pulse that way I dont get hit with shipping fees everytime they send one figure
Good idea
It's crazy how much the books alone are going for.
Yes it is crazy that the guides are collectable as well.
Justin and Penelope are the best guests!!!
They rock!
Cheers!
