I think sanctions should be given a time limit, like a criminal would get in court. Handing out sanctions with a 25 years to life time limit would help in deterring future aggressors as well!

Most Russians can legitimately be described as ultra nationalists as the vast majority of them support Putin. To the West this seems inexplicable but it is none the less a fact. In reality Putin of course wouldn’t win his elections by 94% or whatever nonsense he comes up with but you can bet your life it would be over 75% even if the elections were straight.

Dear Konstantin. You are a kind and well meaning man, and when you as always apologize for the Russian terrorist acts in Ukraine as you always do my thoughts was as always how bad this hurts your good heart. But you are a good man who every day have made a huge difference by telling the truth to the world at the risk of your own life. I think it had been impossible for you or others to stop this cruel regime who has prepared so badly during decades. In jail you couldn't have done all the job you now are doing, look at Navalny. The former Secretary General of NATO, Danish Anders Fogh Rasmussen has told that he has blamed himself because he didn't act after a speach of Putin in 2008. But in the years before that speach Putin acted like he wanted Russia to be a democratic country and a member of NATO. Everyone had a hope for Russia after the cold war. The politicans had their possibilities, but they were deceived although they are responsible for some degree of skepticism. Among others I was angry and worried when it after the Russian invasion became known that European politicans didn't have gas agreements with others than Russia. The politicans had been more blue- eyed than me and it was frightening how they had knelt down for Putin until 2022. Even in privately owned companies you cannot blindly trust one supplier and put all your eggs in their basket. Dear Konstantin, you have done more than anyone can expect and are a incredible good Russian man. Best Regards from Arne in Norway

Ukraine is just upholding international laws as they are bound by contracts to have this pipe running. However the contract is expiring this year and they had not renewed it for 2025 so the gas is going to stop running next year. Upholding contracts and international laws makes them taken seriously internationally and seen as reliable partner who will fulfill contractual duties no matter the situation this enables access to important financing and investment options.

Great job, as usual. From America I have traveled to all 50 states via working on books and a national company I ran, and same with Russia, all of Europe and total of 175 nations to date. My last two trips were a month in all the Baltic states and northern E.U. nations and into Russia for a month. This was pre-war and pre-covid too. One thing I noticed was all the other nations except Russia had smiling faces everywhere. So, even then Russians knew they had issues with their evil government control of all aspect of their citizens lives. No freedom! Russia will have a most difficult winter from crop failures, to pension plans, to lack of oil, diesel, gas, jet fuel, and heating oil, etc. Reason is Ukraine is attacking the 38 Russian refineries and soon over half will be destroyed and perhaps 75% will be kaput by January of 25'... With Ukraine working on air fields, radar stations, storage tank facilities, etc., Russia is feeling they may have a hard time next year as American arms flood into Ukraine and also the F-16's, which may be able to level the playing field and hopefully America and the European nations allow Ukraine to go after staging areas across their border with NO restrictions. So, Putin may be considering potential peace talks after the American elections and this is why he wants to take all the land he can and use that as a bargaining chip, so-to-speak early next year. Meanwhile, it is most difficult to expect Ukraine to go along with giving up the Donbas and also Crimea for some kind of fake peace. The only thing we really know is Russia can never be trusted, as they were intent on making Ukraine much weaker, in May of 92', Ukraine gave up their vast nuclear program and even then Russia knew what they were doing. One more thing, just as Covid started I spent a month in Australia and New Zealand and I must say I felt like I was somewhere in friendly America, as they are very happy and smile everywhere you go. Seems bottom line is democracies just tend to be a happier place to live and thrive. Take a look at Americas border, as illegals flood our border from now over 190 nations, even Russia, China, Iran, Cuba not really our good friends. By end of year about ten million, but who is counting. Go figure!

There was one other demand too. The last one was that Ukraine must reduce it's military forces to a ridiculously low level. I don't remember the exact number but at that level there is no way that Ukraine could EVER be able to defend itself once Putin (in a year or two) does what he usually does. That is, he will attack again and win with ease at the numbers he wants them to reduce their military to.

And US and the west can keep adding more sanctions every month if they want (looks like every 2 months for the last2 years). Definition of fiat currency is that the state sets it's value. It has no external value. Ruble has been a fiat for more than a century.
fiat (countable and uncountable, plural fiats)
-An arbitrary or authoritative command or order to do something; an effectual decree.
fiat money (countable and uncountable, plural fiat moneys or fiat monies)
-(banking, economics) A type of currency that is not backed by a precious metal, such as gold or silver, and is typically designated by the issuing government to be legal tender, and authorized by government regulation.
When a state uses fiat currency, it can create it from thin air, and the users has to accept using it. This gives the state possibility to spend money without taxing it. It just can't create (inflate) too much of it, or the price increases gets out of hand. During war, the economy shifts in producing military goods. This increases need for government spending and states adopted fiat in time of war to finance wars. As also production of consumer goods and investments in their production is reduced, their prices also go up. Reduction of production and increase in money supply leads to very high price increase, and eventually creates need for government price setting. This creates shortages and black markets and even more corruption. These effects will come only after years of war, but when the come, can't be fixed easily, but usually states resort to even more money printing and economic restrictions. If this war prolongs for still more years and Russia keeps mobilizing working age men, Ukraine keeps hitting the refineries and sanctions are held, then the post war economic chaos could be quite severe.

Not many words about the contents and, also, nothing has really been mentioned about the US new package except that some more people have been sanctioned. And the Put(a)in "peace plan" was mentioned. Briefly. And not a word about him wanted the sanctions lifted but he has mentioned that before together with the grain package negotiated by the UN and Türkiye.
Now we're waiting for Hungary to take over the leadership in the EU, starting July 1st, and the remainder of the year. Oh! And is anybody surprised that Germany opposed the sanctions regarding the LNG. Apparently, they finally caved in.

Russia has a war economy where 7% of GDP goes to the war in Ukraine or 37% of the state budget.
