- Being a rule-breaker, suffering postpartum depression and experiencing huge heartbreak. Paloma Faith unveils her vulnerable side to Jamie, delving deep into her head and her heart.
Paloma has a distinctly unique perspective on life which shapes her to be the singer-a songwriter and style icon we know today. Emotions flow as she shares her journey through heartbreak, the role resentment played in the breakdown of her decade-long relationship and the happiness she has found through the love of her kids.

I'm a former national TV journalist and that was one of the best interviews, that I've ever seen.
So you write fake news then
I love Paloma's no nonsense approach and her directness, and the fact that despite her incredible success she is so humble. An amazing woman
The strange thing is if you listen to the early part of the podcast she tells it like it was all an accident and she was working in a bar and never meant to get into the music industry, then later on she confesses how driven and competitive she was, even from an early age. I just can't reconcile those two versions.
Same x
@@catinthehat906 She's always been driven and competitive but singing came late for her. Her early training was in dance and art, not music. She's always said that she was involved in a lot of different things, but it was the singing that took off.
I looked at Paloma Faith as an absolute idol from a young age and I still do. However, to see her open up and be so truthful makes me realise were all the same. What an inspirational woman. She's kind, beautiful and smart. I'm even more obsessed. ❤
Next to Jamie Lang she's an absolute genius.
I messaged her, after she asked about baby questions. She privately messaged me to thank me. I was really pleased. She really struggled and was so open about it.
My partner went back to work after our children were a few years old. As a man I didn't realise how much she actually done until I had to do it myself. I'm still apologising. Fantastic interview I've never been a Paloma fan, I am now. ❤
I understand what Paloma says about doing three people's jobs. In the 70's when I was discussing women's liberation with my mum. She laughed and said 'what's emancipated about working at least two full time jobs' ( career and motherhood)
From about 33 minutes in, Paloma nails the life of a Mum. Thank you for speaking up!
I am sure this isn’t what the Suffragettes sacrificed their lives for. The Maths ain’t Mathing
She is a morxn.
these 2 should have a full on show or radio presenters together amazing mutual respect and chemistry
I went to school with Paloma, this interview was wonderful and showed she is still her authentic and amazing self. Wonderful interview Jamie, I stumbled across this and hope you keep up the great work!
She is spot on about the massive shift that happens to a women when you have a child...its a shock to the system, everything in you life, being changes. Such a great interview ❤
Paloma is so engaging and honest and Jamie is a natural at interviewing guests. Really enjoyed this interview.
Jamie, you are a wonderful interviewer.
Your listening skills, understanding and empathy as well as your humility and sense of humour are so much more than I had expected.
Great choice of interviewees so far and I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of you in this arena
I knew of both these people, but only in a vague way. I have an aversion to so many people who judge based on background. Watching and listening to this by chance has been the most enjoyable interview I've seen in years. I now have a huge amount of respect and admiration for both Jamie and Paloma.
Both amazing and funny
Fantastic, vulnerable and refreshing conversation. We use so many words without actually speaking our truths, and Paloma doesn’t. Her authenticity and humour is wonderful. Great connection and bounce between her and Jamie. Loved it! 💛
Ms Paloma, unapologetically honest, warm and fun. That laugh alone us like a warm hug❤
What an absolutely amazing, articulate, intelligent, talented woman.
What a breath of fresh air. What a beautiful woman and sounds like she’s a beautiful mum, a real star
She’s so right !! Feminism has just forgotten us ! Women don’t get a break we’re expected to do everything and provide. Working a full time Job, keeping the house running, making sure the kids have everything they need. Sorting birthdays, dinners, clothes, parties, school clubs. We don’t get a break and have to put a front on 24/7 if you say you need a break your frowned upon… we’re all burning out….
Mothers should stay at home. Barely makes financial sense to work outside the home. Feminism didn't forget us, it ruined families.
Not all women are mothers or want to be mothers
@@harpsailorharp6716gg Well then enjoy Feminism and work untill you're 70 and die alone without your children around you
@@harpsailorharp6716ggThey can thank Feminism for the right to work til their 70 and end their days alone
The reason women got equal paychecks was less to do with feminism ...IMO corporations saw an opportunity to pay less to one person (a man back in the day) who had been able to support a family of 4 in a 2 up 2 down home on a single paycheck. Albeit toys/white goods were much scarcer and way more pricey they were produced by workers who could afford stability for home/family and IMO less plastic waste/built in obsolescence is better for everyone.
When she says: "It's just very raw, because of the kids", I started crying and I don't even have kids. What a great episode, so much empathy and overall beautiful insight. Love this podcast, absolutely making my day every time.
Went to see paloma on Thursday in Manchester, a great performance, at 56 I’ve seen so many artists ,but non compare to the way ,she really put herself out there, raw and true, made me feel alive again.
Love Paloma Faith! My husband and my daughter went to her concert last week and were blown away! ‘This too shall pass’ was my granddad’s favourite saying.
Yes I agree after the birth of my second daughter I didn't realise how bad I was until I started to get better nearly 2 years later ❤❤❤
Such a brilliant chat ❤ her honesty and self awareness is so refreshing
Man Jamie's great at interviewing and Paloma is just awesome
Awww same as Jamie said. Slept with my son and daughter in one bed... such bliss!! So blessed. I pray everyone gets to feel that
I am actually glad I listened to the whole of this because I had pre-conceived ideas on how I thought this would go down and I was totally wrong. I wonder if Paloma gets overwhelmed when what she gives out isn’t given back even though she doesn’t want it initially to begin with or that’s never her intention because she has a good heart and just wants to care for people and make them feel good. I once watched an interview with Joan Collins on the Queen Latifah show and an audience member asked Joan what she thought about being involved romantically with someone who wasn’t in the same position financially, emotionally or had the same ambitions and goals as them and Joan, to my surprise, put it so beautifully. When your love you share the pot whatever that be even if your putting more in. If you love that person then you make it work and accept them for who they are and what they bring to the table. It cannot be measured.
This conversation really flowed, loved it.
Sooo good!! I could listen to Paloma talk all day, she’s so eloquent and compelling.
I could listen to Paloma all day..she's a beautiful soul ❤
I think Paloma is very real, very considered and says things that many famous people don't, it's an engaging thing to listen to her and I see why her music and her have that great sound
Exactly right about the Mum role....she took the words right out of my mouth that’s exactly how it is ❤x
Great great interview. Jamie you did such a good job. Great listener and understanding. Poloma thank you for talking about PND ❤ such a breath of fresh air in all areas xxx loved the 8 questions at the end xxx
She’s so unique I wouldn’t know who to even compare her with.
No one
Both my sons went to school with Paloma...she hasn't changed a jot and it's wonderful! 😃👍💖
Amazing interview. Great chemistry. It's like pair of 2 best friends taking incredibly honestly about things. Couldn't take my eyes of them both. Well done Paloma and Jamie.
Always been a fan of Paloma, we should all be abit more Paloma in life. Great chat xx
Also she omitted to mention the enormous hormonal and bodily changes that happen when you get pregnant. Then you have to birth the child and deal with the aftermath (she does mention post birth depression). Your body changes forever. It's a massive thing. Plus the tiredness and huge responsibility to care for another human being 💖
There is always the urge to protect your children no matter what
What a lot of sense she speaks❤
Really impressed with Jamie’s interview style. So important for an interesting, successful interview.
Saw Palomo with my daughter in Glasgow in 2013 (I think)! She was incredible! Thank you Paloma for being magical in your performance. 💛
This is the most incredible interview x
I'm ashamed to say I've been so incredibly judgemental about Jamie and Paloma individually in the past but I can now honestly say they are the most wonderful people. Paloma is so open, honest, articulate, and pure, and Jamie is so considerate and you could see and hear the real interest, passion and understanding he had towards Paloma as a person. This interview was so wonderful, beautiful, such an eye opener and I now have an absolute respect for both. Jamie's interview technique is spot on and deserves all the recognition it can get!!!
I form an image of people before knowing them and this shows to me how wrong I can be and I'm glad I was wrong
Pure honesty. I saw Paloma in concert last night in Plymouth - great concert. She’s sharp and witty ❤️
You lucky thing.
I have listened to Paloma and we are practically identical. She has explained it so well as to how I feel and not been able to understand why I feel that way. It’s helped me realise I am not unusual and people feel the same. Thankyou for this. Thankyou Paloma. ❤❤
What a beautiful interview Poloma and Jamie. I went through separating from the father of my kids and it took such a long time to find me again. I'm so glad your talking about being a mum and everything you said is so true!!!! Jamie, thank you for listening and open with your heart.
Wow paloma's raw brutal direct relentless realness & honesty is so refreshing awe-inspiring & courageous, she exposes intimate insights into her mindset & is so generous with her free flowing outpouring of answers & responses. She's off the hook, a true unique one off. There was NO mold & there never will be, she irreplaceable & unreplicatable, she's the one and only legendary Paloma Faith! love her ❤
Amazing , loved every second of this conversation
what an absolutely brilliant interview, Paloma seems to be analysing everything she does in her life, hey girl, you are amazing, you are you, your unique, I do think you put your self down a lot but you has no reason too, with everything in life we endure both sides of a coin, a ying and yang,a good, a bad, a happy a sad, a light, a dark, romance, heartbreak, comedy, tragedy, love and loss, marriage, divorce, birth and death. and the biggest thing we ask ourselves everyday is why??? why sometimes you will find the answer you are looking for and why sometimes you wont, sometimes you just have to let things go, today I have laughed and cried with you, you and Jamie bounced off one another, and you made me howl with laughter when you called Rishi the C word, you carry on lovely lady doing what your doing, your aura is shining beautifully. well done Jamie, I just stumbled across this interview and I am so pleased I watched it, the chemistry you two had was amazing.
"It's not just about spit on your fingers and rub" ... 😂 Love her honesty... 😊
I adore both Paloma & Jamie (fellow ADHD’ers) I really get their thinking. Oddly, we use ‘This too shall pass’ a lot in recovery. It’s such a simple phrase but so powerful when you’re caught in the madness. 🤪
That was the most honest beautiful profound interview I’ve ever seen, the honesty of life bites us all, some of the issues raised we’re so relatable it actually help me. You’ve got a fan.
Jamie, this is the best interview I've ever seen you give. I loved it. The questions we're different, and it made for a really interesting conversation
This was such a lovely chat, thank you 😊
This was so interesting, I always thought Paloma was a bit ditzy, so love her unapologetic competitiveness/ambition sitting next to the best in class, emulating them, learning from them & then surpassing them. Fascinating!
This was amazing! Felt like I was in the room with you both ☺️
What an absolutely inspirational, talented, funny, clever, beautiful & naughty woman Paloma is 😉🤣💖
& Jamie you are a great interviewer. So natural & the conversation flowed so well! 👏🏽
Absolutely loved this! Just subscribed ♥️
Love Paloma, her music, attitude & most of all her authenticity.
I listened to pamola being interviewed and I've always said you know when someone's smile is genuine is when your hear it in their voice. And Pamela you have a lovely smile .
Kudos and thanks to both Paloma and Jamie for this. I've only watched two instalments of this podcast as a fan of both Jo Brand and Paloma, but crikey I am now a fan of Jamie. He is so adept, so in his element in this forum. These aren't just interviews, they're very personal conversations that we get to witness.
What a fantastic interview! Love Paloma Faith’s viewpoint on a lot of things xx
She reminds me of Toyah
She reminds me of Barbara Windsor ❤
The voice does
Love her honesty and humour. Really beautiful conversation, thank you for sharing it and wishing you all the best with your fantastic new pod!
What a great and genuine podcast. Both Paloma and the posh boy are very likeable and truthful so it seems ❤
'After reality TV I couldn't get a normal job'....Good for Paloma calling this out! Apart from retraining with reality earnings/parent's money to become an engineer/human rights lawyer/plumber/electrician/charity fund raiser couldn't Jamie work tomorrow delivering mail, collecting rubbish, gardening, picking fruit, deliveroo, building site work etc etc etc?! Likeable as Jamie is his entitled upbringing and education shows how oblivious he is re reality of most people doing jobs they don't love eg 90% of people would love to have a paycheck for chatting to those they admire for an hour or more.
Brilliant chat. Love, love, love Paloma, and Jamie is such a good guy.
She’s so cute. Love her so much! An icon ❤
What an amazing interview. So much wisdom and truth and honesty.
Wow! This got me amazing listen ❤
I was in the year below at the same dance school as Paloma..so wonderful to see the growth and wisdom shared in this. Totally agree on the motherhood aspect, she has voiced this exactly as it is for a woman, thank you Paloma 🙏🏾❤
Paloma is so open & honest in this interview..I took my husband to see her in concert in cardiff few years back & he was dreading it BUT he thinks she's fantastic now because of her personality aswel as her singing ❤ we all love her Xx
Aww you guys, the start of a lovely friendship I hope, i'd love to see you two do more podcasts together. Paloma I love your blunt and honest sense of humour, it's fantastic!! I'm not a parent but your doing an amazing job as a hard working mum & balancing the life of being an awesome artist.
She is a wonderful human being and when your feeling a bit low just listening to her brightens you up instantly xxxxx
Loved this pod! Paloma speaks so much truth on working mums.. this was my ‘me time’ and I needed to hear it! ❤
I love learning about what people are truly like and Paloma is everything I’d hoped for. Her music is fantastic but so is her honesty. You did a fantastic job J 👍
Great interview! i just think many questions back were missed! shes so lovely and relatable i wish i had more answers from most topics x
Saw Paloma live - so sweet, so humble, so grateful to her fans. Madge could learn a lot from her.
ghhhhhhosh. I Love Paloma Faith, I have for yrs. Really lovely podcast!! 🎉
Paloma, such a refreshing perspective. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait for your tour. Also, slowly changing my preconceived ideals of Jamie..... interesting perspectives. Watch out Barnett.
This was wonderful Jamie, such a great talk with Paloma ❤❤❤❤
Love Paloma, believe me your relationship will evolve over time and you will find each other again. Having young kids changes things in every family but it gets so much better.
I thoroughly enjoyed listenjng to both Paloma and Jamie..Paloma is extremely edearing - made me feel very emmotional but also very heart warming at the same time. Im sure she is an amazing loving mum. So sad to hear her marriage didn't work out but she has two beautiful kids as a result. Sending you both warm hugs and blessings.. absolutely loved this podcast ! Thank you 🤗❤❤
This was a great interview extremely interesting thanks 10/10
Good for her for calling out rudeness
What a spot on wonderful name for your channel. Lovely to see the many layers of you, Jamie. I’ve always liked Paloma - I agree, wow she’s quite hard on herself - sometimes the best people are like that 💕🎩💕🎩
What a fantastic interview!
She's just so down to earth and honest. What you see is what you get.
Shes great ❤
Very open interview, well done both of you.
What an incredible woman. I love her! The perfect balance of honesty, directness, kindness and compassion ❤️
Paloma ❤ loved this interview totally relatable and lovey 😁🤗 xx
This found me 😳…it was brilliant, obviously I fell in love with Paloma on The Voice , loved her music but felt the show let us see more of her intelligence and humour. Listening today made me admire her even more. I love my darling wifey so much and yes I’m totally aware that the love my wifey has for me is much less…. I look at my wifey with eyes of a new love it has never changed only I have realised the power love holds is different for everyone. Yes I wish she loved me as much as I love her but I can’t do anything about it.
It’s clear she is an incredible Mum and keeping a relationship with an x is key with children.
Congratulations on a great video xx
Outstanding podcast 👏 Paloma is very real & grounded !! NEVER change lovely lady.❤
LOVE this chat! Nice to see two different people from different walks of life connecting ❤
Paloma...some people come into your life to go out again and others come into your life to stay but with both you learn something.
Absolutely love this interview, real, kind, funny ,beautiful ❤❤
I love Jamie's new podcast ❤ so glad you're going places x
ABSOLUTELY MY FAVOURITE CONVERSATION. WHAT A NICE PERSON. AND YOU JAMIE. HAVE A LOVELY DAY
Resonated with so much of this. Sums up the life of a Mum perfectly 😊
I love her. Shes so normal but so crazy too. Paloma always be you. Xx 😊
So beautifully honest. She's lovely.
What a great interview 👌🏻
What a great pod
Paloma is a wise and lovely lady
