Thanks Tom. I think I have to adjust for the new shop and temperature changes. Warmer in the house/cooler in the shop/shed. Need more time to flash out.
Despite all the paint issues John it turned out really nice, and you stuck with it. I would have put it back in the box and started a different kit. The straight headers look is a cool look. That kit can definitely be a pain to build. When I built mine this past year I was wondering how the heck I ever finished/built it when I was a kid.
Nice build John! Malibu's make nice subject matter. I had the exact paint issue for a 1966 Chevrolet pickup I built last year. I was using Revelle's Royal Blue and kept getting bubbles along the bed. I stripped the body twice and sanded, but the results were the same. Once I finished the model I like you used decals to hide the boo-boo. I still can't figure out what happened.
Try scrubbing the bodies with soft scrub non chlorine... it cleans and sands at the same time use a soft tooth brush... Maybe not enough flash time before clear coat?... Still looks good... I have an orginal unbuilt and I like the new version.
I think my problem may be that I have painted in my house during colder months and am now in my shed/shop. I need to give more time for the clear to gas out. I think it is a temperature control issue.
Just a suggestion, since I am having similar issues with a 66 Chevelle also, go figure. I used BMF on the rocker panel right up to the bottom of the doors and another strip behind the rear wheels. It might not be legit but it covered up a lot of ugly. Oh, forgot to mention that I did sand those areas down cause I found out the hard way that BMF shows imperfections.
Classic kit here, Loved your journey with the build.
Thank you for watching.
Malibu looks nice in those colors John.😊
Thanks David
Despite the paint issues, turned out really cool John

Good looking Malibu. We have all been there with paint issues and I'm still doing it.
This is the second paint issue since the outside temperatures changes (cooler) and I am in a shop/shed instead of my house.
I paint in my garage but I turn my heater on and get it up to about 60°.
Your 66' turned out great! Way to stick with it during your paint issues. The color looks good with the flames. Gave you a subscription. 😎👍
I'll have a video coming out on my 66' in a week or so.
Thank you for watching and subscribing. I will do likewise
looks kool sweet build love the color and rims 😁🤩paint can be like a box of chocolates haha i know first hand😅🤣
Thank you 🤗
Had the same issue with my 21' Charger . Painted it, cleared it with future floor polish and it ended up doing the same thing
It sucks. But that makes modeling fun. Yea right. lol
Hey man, at least you are persistent, nobody can call you a quitter. Came out nice anyway.
Never looked at it that way. Thanks for the positive comments.
