  • Dr. Joseph Nemeth, a world renowned #Periodontist discusses 10 things you might not have known about gum disease, also known as periodontal disease.
    1. Half of American adults have Periodontitis, and 70% of people over 65 have some form of gum disease.
    2. By the age of 3 years old, 80% of dogs have some form of #periodontaldisease
    3. You could have gum disease and not even know it.
    4. It could affect the rest of your body causing, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer Alzheimer's disease and many others
    5. It could affect your unborn baby causing pregnancy gingivitis or pregnancy tumors.
    6. It can cause Alzheimer's disease.
    7. Gum recession is technically a form of gum disease.
    8. It’s transmissible.
    9. #Periodontitis is caused by the same bacteria that cause STDs like Syphilis and Trichomoniasis.
But don't worry, its not transmissible because its a different type of the same bacteria. So in other words, gum disease will not cause Syphilis or Trichomoniasis.
    10. Periodontitis is a common cause of Bad Breath.

I don’t think many people realize how sick they can get. Lucky for me I plugged my gums with poorly made retainer as well as 8 months of Invisalign’s. My spirochete were so happy. The LANAP saved my bleeding burning mouth. I still struggle with fixing my gut health but eventually I believe I can restore my microbiome. Hope I never get this sick again- thank you Dr Nemeth for bringing this to awareness.

I did it all just before COVId so again… how fortunate I feel and the Gratitude for Dr. Nemeth was even bigger. The only thing benefiting by not doing LANAP is more and more and bad microbes growing deep in the gums.

Excellent information! Having the most horrible dentist as a young person, I stayed away from DDS after 18, for five years! I was petrified of them. My father was a doctor, and this dentist was his friend. Well, thank God, I did ally went to a periodontist when it was too late, I had “flap surgeries on all four quadrants, bone grafts, etc. now I’m in pretty good shape, at 75, with bone loss at two implants, but I go every three months to a periodontist and regular DDS, alternating. Interdental brushes, floss, waterpik, sonicare are all part of my routine. I hope others will listen to your CZcams and read my comment. Thanks you for the excellent advice!

Doctor thanks al a lot for the information. I just discovered that I have a chronic Periodontists decease.
An infection that one day just exploded, since then I been with antibiotics, with ultrasonic cleaner. Outside my gums had inflammation every where , painful 😖 a lot of blood , but the must interesting is that I am someone who almost brush their teeth from 4 to 6 times a day. My teeth are almost 1 in the scale of white.
As a child I imagine I was like a lot of kids. Didn't had to much care!
Anyway, know I am looking for a specialist in the country I live.
After this deep cleaning and check up what should I expect from an specialist?
What type of test or methods to evaluate? So I can recognize that I will be in good hands. Thanks for all your time to pass all this information to people.

You won't believe this, but I had bleeding, receding gums for many years. I brushed, flossed, got frequent cleanings, ate what I thought was a good diet, exercised like crazy, yet still had bad gingivitis. My gums would bleed a lot.
I went to the dentist and they measured the depth of my gums along my teeth, and I had a lot of 4's, 5's and 6's in the back.
Nothing worked, until I did two things:
    I started taking 5,000 IU daily of vitamin D3;
And I also started eating a meat-only carnivore diet.
That did the trick. I now have no blood, no discoloration or gum disease of any kind. My gums are perfectly healthy now.
I will list everything I did, because one of these things stopped my gingivitis:
    Supplementing with vitamin D3.
Eating lots of saturated animal fats.
    Avoidance of processed vegetable oils.
    Avoidance of sugar.
    Avoidance of processed foods.
Spending lots of time in the sun, exposing my skin.
Eating an all natural food diet.
One of those things cured my gum disease. Completely gone...

If you have moderately advanced periodontal disease with pain/ bleeding gums, and some bone loss can you scale and plain the teeth or laser without using painkillers? It doesn't looks me normal and I felt to press it by tight that part of the mouth. It make me feel relax and feel looks good for gums but later I realize that my gums never felt me normal without tight the part of the mouth where I feel. I didn't take help of dentist quickly because I was afraid of bad condition and I felt that I should quite smoking and then my mouth condition will be good and At early stages of
One of the dentist I told this problem they told me to do some work with teeth and told me that If you dont quite smoking there is no chance of getting any improvement in my gum disease. Now I have quite smoking from last 2 months but Some part of my mouth skin ( gum skin, gum upper skin) looks me very abnormal and never looks me normal without tight that part of mouth. In this some skin hold tight with some part of gums. But it looks very abnormal and unhealthy. I have discussed this problem with so many experts they don't take it seriously. They used ask is your gum bleeding, I say No. Second they ask do you feel pain and I say No and third they used to see in my mouth for 5 seconds to check a kind of oil after they say you don't have any gum disease but then why I feel very abnormal some part of my mouth why I feel relax by making tight that part of the mouth. Sir, I when tight some part of my mouth it looks It is making pressure on my heart and making me sick, not even that One side of my jaw is paining by tightening my mouth. My appetite unbelievably decreased. I don't eat healthy diet like I used to in routine. I humble request you to tell me why I feel abnormal in some part of my mouth. My mouth shape disturbed by tightening that part of the mouth. I feel huge difference in my overall health.

The best product l have ever used to get healthy gums is Therabreath. If l stop using it, the bleeding comes back. It's much better than peroxide which is a bit acidic which leads to acid erosion in enamel.
A few good treatments with this mouth wash and good brushing, the problem is gone. I have never had my gums so tight and light pink like this. Never had such healthy gums. No more inflammation/bleeding. It's a mild bleach that kills germs broad spectrum. Overgrowth of bad bacteria is the culprit, you get rid of them you're good. This is one half my regimen to have good teeth for life

Just recently I noticed that my gums have started receding, well I did brush aggressively and in a wrong way. The point is, it's bad to brush too often even if it's to keep the teeth healthy. If yours is genetics, prolly a dentist's help will be more appropriate

    • @Kdizzy
      @Kdizzy Před 3 lety +3

@@tiffanycrystalclear I recently was told at my cleaning I have 5 mm’s and a little bone loss, but after my scaling and planing by my hygienist (took an hour) my gums have a chance of adhering to my teeth a bit more, diminishing the pocket depth by as much as up to .5 mm. Removing that tarter buildup under the gun line is key, because your teeth can’t form a right seal around tartar. I also make sure I now floss once a day (which is one of the biggest preventative measures in periodontitis) and I brush more gently and thoroughly. I also use a fluoride mouthwash after flossing and a warm salt water gargle once every few days to draw out some bacteria. Make sure you have your teeth properly scaled and cleaned at the dentist twice a year, and take steps at home to prevent your periodontitis from progressing.

  • @gurugamer8632

I had appointment with a dentist for routine check up and he said I have no gum disease. The hygienist who cleans my teeth said I have pockets in my gums and asked me to make a private appointment dentist with a special interest in periodontology and after they measured my pockets they said I have Stage 2 gum disease (mainly the back teeth with pockets up to 5-6mm) and quoted me £1700 for 2 sessions (1 hour each session). Is that over priced? The dentist has a PHD in Periodontology. This seems crazy price. I hope it’s not a dentist scam !
