      @@MyShawn82 It would be way too much money. We have a 2019 XSE loaded and it was 39k but Toyota gave almost 6k off the price. These TRDs are going for 29,900-32k in South Florida. If it had XSE features it would be over 40k. We also have a 2019 Camry SE and it has the blind spot monitoring+ rear cross traffic alert and The braking/radar safety features and convenience package and honestly it is really enough. Honestly the 360 camera and heads up display on the XSE isnt worth the extra couple of grand.

    • @KZSoze
      @KZSoze Před 4 lety +32

      Lethal Redd It’s a tremendously reworked and improved suspension, new wheels, tires, new exhaust, etc. For anyone serious about driving or even auto cross style racing, it’s a damn good value. The car is functionally better. If you want a drag racing car, go buy one.
      This is no different than packages you can buy from Ford, Chevy, etc.

    • @LethalRedd
      @LethalRedd Před 4 lety +17

      @@KZSoze that's cool, but I was expecting more as this from TRD USA: At TRD, we realize true enthusiasts are always looking for extra performance. That’s why we offer a wide range of engine and driveline accessories: Everything from high-performance clutch kits for higher torque capacity to quickshifters that deliver faster, positive shifting with a 20% shorter throw. TRD also offers high-performance differentials and TRD Metal Head Gaskets that handle higher cylinder pressure and heat. So if you want to inject more fun into your driving, turn to TRD, but they put none of that in that the car, not even an upgraded air filter.

    • @KZSoze
      @KZSoze Před 4 lety +6

      @@LethalRedd The car is by definition, higher performance by way of dramatically reworked handling, suspension, aero kit, brakes, tires, etc. Thus, on a track, it would be faster. However, on a drag strip track, it would not. TRD used to love to offer superchargers and accessories quite a bit. Everything from Tundras, to Tacomas, to Scions, etc. The problem, for one, is, not a lot of people really buy them. It's like people who complain about the lack of manual transmissions, whilst not buying them.
      Chevy will sell you a performance or track pack, or packages which are not necessarily horsepower upgrades. Ford will give you a performance package via Ford Racing, that may not be an actual horsepower bump.
      I grew up thinking my father lived in the golden age of muscle cars, and performance. However, I've come to understand, we have far surpassed that, to the point that a family car, a Camry, in this TRD configuration, for as little as 31K, on a stock motor, can easily run with the fastest production cars of the golden age. And somehow, it's highly reliable, has great resale, and properly cruising can get 30+mpg. An XSE starts at 30K. This car starts at 31K. The damn thing is a deal, anyway you slice it.
      Now if you want to talk about the TRD 86, I'm all for it. Brakes, tires, decals and some paint, is not my idea of badge worthy.

      Boogie, champagne taste. Those bsw mirrors are like $1200 to fix out of warranty. Panoramic roof looks good but they're almost $2k to fix if the track goes bad. It's a cheaper alternative for a v6, all those extra features are want base and not a need. HID lights last longer than LED and provide better lighting. I know full LED gives vehicles an upscale look but they belong on higher trim vehicles. Those LED lights are over $100 a piece just for the bulbs plus extra just to get them change. They don't last, bunch of vehicles with led have one eye now.

These miles were well above average and affected the Camry's trade-in value. That said, we could've easily gotten a few grand more on the private market if we would have sold it ourselves. Profit versus convenience is something owners have to decide for themselves.

    I got an 2009 Camry and love the look of the new ones. I did not get a new one because of the lack of HP and TQ. Instead, I got a Q50 RS. I wrote in to Toyota Corp and expressed my concerns with the brand. I felt that both the Camry and Avalon needed a performance boost to stay ahead of upcoming competition. During this time, Kia and Hyundai were really starting to push. My vision came from the TRD Camry sleeper. Toyota did listen to me, but the performance was not what I expected. The TRD versions of the Camry, Avalon or even Corolla should have the most power and be the fastest. Making it the same as the XSE and XLE made no sense. Neither did 301HP/267TQ . I understand these are considered reliable family sedans and could not expect too much at one time. One of the reasons Toyota didn't really add too much is because they don't want to surpass the Lexus brand which can also use a performance boost. Some people are like well get a Lexus or just get a faster car. No, they're missing the point. I love the Camry. I love Toyota. So please write in and voice your opinions to them because they do listen a little. I am still trying to push to get the Camry supercharger back on the market here in the USA. When they put out a better stock product, I might get one in the future. Still a nice car though.

    Well, actually...it's still your grandma's car. This car makes no sense, why take a large, slow, heavy, 300hp car, throw some suspension bits and aero at it and call it "sporty"? I never thought we would see Toyota pushing such a gimmick car for revenue. This and the Avalon TRD, both are large underpowered sedans that have no business having the "sports sedan" moniker. Seriously Toyota, next time give a horsepower bump if you want to call them TRD and sports sedans. Otherwise, most car enthusiasts just laugh at the idea of Toyota or Avalon TRD cars with no power increase. Let's be honest guys, it still is very much your grandma's car.

      busywl69 let’s be honest for a sec. if you’re gonna spend money on something like this, the Avalon has a more aggressive design and better interior than the Camry. I like the Camry overall don’t get my wrong but the front end being so narrow and those headlights I’m not digging it and those taillights that take you back to early 2000s “mods” not doing it justice. The instead of the “wing” I’d like to see a tip on it give it a cleaner look & feel.

    • @busywl69
      @busywl69 Před 4 lety

      @@marcelinolopez52 true, but its a niche car though (still family), for those who find regular camrys to pedestrian but still giving you good gas mileage and a comfortable drive with toyotas reliability (non cvt engine model) when owning it out of warranty.

    It has just as many refined moves as the German cars, handles just as well , has
    a great engine and cost twenty thousand less. By the way, people love to look at this car while I’m driving it. It is a very cool looking car. Also, I love that it has a primary chain, thrives
    on regular gas and has a more simplified dash panel. I think you were a little harsh with your

      Africa has alot of cars so I tend to strongly disagree with @chocolatewheelchair.
      In Kenya alone we've got 4 million registered private vehicles most of which are Toyota since they are relatively easy to maintain than other brands.
      I personally owned a Jaguar F-Type and it was a nightmare like yes the car was great but the roads here aren't fully suited for it. Eventually I had to replace it with an F-Pace which is super better but I still have tremendously high respect for Toyota brands.
