I feel like some people will rag on these cars, but in my opinion, it's a good looking car at a good price. Most people THINK they want a sports car, but this is really all they need.

this is true. Most people need at max 250hp. This is more than that, and its still practical, economical, easy to maintain, and PLENTY fast. i would say more than half of car enthusiasts cant even afford one of these anyway, so its all talk and no walk.

True though, they always rave on about how car's are considered slow when the car itself had 200+ horsepower, etc. Also the Camry TRD is about having a sporty feel family car, not a full on sportscar that's uncomfortable to haul people around.

This is an AMAZING car, especially at this price point. It even looks better in person. For someone with a family and a limited budget where you need a car for the family and groceries but at the same time you want to have something that will put a smile on your face every time you drive it, the Camry TRD hits a nice sweet spot. Combine all that with that legendary Toyota quality which means you will have a car that will outlast its warranty and you have an AMAZING car. The ONLY thing that prevented me from putting this on my shortlist was that it did not come in a manual :( If this Camry TRD came in a manual I would be working hard to try to find a way to fit it in my garage. As was said in the video I also think an LSD would do wonders in this car. Well done Toyota! I hope they sell a ton of these to show even at $30,000 people want good looks, good value, and good performance. You really get a lot of car for your money here.

At 40k? A young family won’t have the income to afford this. And a family with 2 kids wouldn’t be shopping for a sedan, they’re going for the 3 row SUV. The XSE was more than enough of a sporty trim package, this..this is embarrassing. It’s as bad as the Civic Type R. It’s trying so hard to be cool and edgy that it comes off as an insult to any car enthusiast. Not to mention no manual or LSD (which I wouldn’t expect anyways) IF it was trying to be serious about its “sporty sedan” intentions. Just drive an Outback or CPO German sedan and accept you’re a middle aged suburban dad.

And also the Civic Type R is not bad yes it does look edgy but remember there are more uglier cars out there like the new Camaro
And of course it is practical as it seats 4 people and has plenty of boot space
And not every family with 2 kids will go straight to a three row SUV

@@constructionbootgazer yeah but a Civic Type R makes actual sports cars sweat on track. It's not being marketed as something it's not. Regardless of what you think about its looks. And if you think a CTR it's an embarrassment I'd invite you to get slapped around by one around a road course. This is something else. 31k is not bad compared to a lot of new cars but considering how little enthusiasts precense Toyota has, something with a TRD badge that is not a truck these days just honestly isn't for anyone other than a Kool aid drinking Toyota fan (and this is coming from someone with a a TuRD Pro truck). Sad thing is they won't have trouble moving them, but I suspect they won't get any crosshoppers or anyone used to dailying an actual fun car. For me, Toyota nailed this car. I’m not a full blown car enthusiast. Being from the North east and wanting to keep a car for 10 - 20 years, this is perfect. Same tuning and components (so just as reliable) as the Camry but appearance only changes. That’s all I would want and I’m glad they got rid of the unnecessary high end features that don’t matter imo. I hope they keep it for longer. It’s semi affordable still and gives you a few extra goodies while maintaining the Toyota parts and tuning of the legendary Camry. A good daily car. Personally, it’s more fun and economical to buy a motorcycle instead of a sports car for when I want to tool around and have fun.

Having previously owned a Camry for 15 years the comment you made at the 11:34 mark defines the Camry best: "Nothing stands out here that's great in any single way and to me that's what's great about this for the traditional Camry buyer." So true. That's what makes the Camry such a great car. For me it performed like a Swiss watch that always did what I needed it to do and never let me down. When you add up all the things that it does well enough and although mostly not exciting, remarkable or particularly memorable, it does add up to a satisfying ownership and driving experience.

I then sold it to my friend and he had to replace the clutch at 97K miles. That's pretty good considering that was my first manual car as well as his first manual too. I've had no issues with my WRX (granted I'm at 13K miles). From what I've read the FA20 is very reliable (especially compared to the EJ25) and my experience backs that up.

It doesn't have glitzy badges, blacked out this and that or extra aero. The Accord is comfortable in its own modest skin while the Toyota has to shout for attention. The most sporty car in its class hands down missing a manual but the chassis upgrades combined with the lighter wheels larger brakes an aerial kit and all the other changes makes this a legit enthusiast car. This only family sedan with personality Sorry Mazda 6 and Accord. For the price this can’t be beat no other car in its class offer any of these upgrades. Good stuff Toyota now lets take it a step further and make a GR Camry. Also it sounds badass with the TRD better then the Honda V6 more smooth and refined.
ALSO I agree on not putting the LSD on this car that was a big mistake and that drop from 1st gear to 2nd gear really kills the speed. This car could have really been a legit performance sedan but I agree they purposely didn’t go all out. But even with this this TRD Camry is still the best in class.

Maybe even have a better summer tire like the Bridgestone S007A. Hell, electronic shocks and a valved exhaust are the trends right now for current performance cars. Toyota has potential to take this Camry TRD far if they would just have the balls to release something a real enthusiast wants. There are people out there that will buy this Camry TRD and go "You know, I want a better handling car/something more" and end up trading it in.

Pretty much no discount for TRD, meanwhile XLE and XSE v6 also goes for 31-32k everyday at my dealership after discounts.

Great review. At 7:56 can you magine if you'd floored that Camry TRD? 🤣 I hope Toyota is listening to the improvements to be made. Esp limited slip diff and tall 2nd gear.

When I put Goodyear Eagle Exhilerates on my Turbo Mazda6, it pretty much solve all the traction problems that I had(That you also show in your review of the Turbo Mazda6). I am quite happy now. Mazda should've put these tires on the car to begin with, especially since the Goodyears are comparable in comfort and noise yet handle the torque of the 2.5L Turbo so much better over the stock Falken crossover tires. I'm actually surprised the summer tires wouldn't help a V6 powered Camry like this.

@rockn roll All four. I was initially going to go for Michilen Primacy's or Pilot Sports, but the new Goodyear Exhilerate got great reviews, along with someone on a forum who purchased them over the Michelins for their own Turbo Mazda6.

I've been wondering if this was the year that Toyota were planning to re-launch the Corona model.

that would be poor timing, kinda like when Ford marketed their minivan showing a similar profile to the space shuttle. Then the Challenger blew up.
