@@AutorodeoNederland this isnt true. You dont need to buy a brand new car if you cant afford that to run this game. And you actually loosing more money even using an old cheap fashioned car completely rusted.
@@poitoulibre636 it is true i do buy cars for this type of racing myself.
They costs of repair and replacing the rotten pieces in the old cars are much higher due to expensive costs of labour in Holland. The rules for these cars to keep them on the road is also a real pain because you can't cut much corners as they do in the U.S. So the car breakers make money buying an old rotten piece. Sell as much parts put of it to keep other classics not that rotten on the road and finally they got a very cheap rust bucket left over. The put in an not orginal engine and gearbox out of an other carbrand and they are ready to go. I also consider it as a shame because I love the looks of the older cars and some of them would be real base for building a hotrod. After all with that. Investing 20.000 euro in it would end with a car worth 15.000 euro.

We race my son is east anglian champion... The cars we build are strong with crumple zones and massive cages floor plates door plates bolted up doors boots etc stronger than when came of production line.... Got to have the balls....

Good question. I used to race in a race called an enduro at brushcreek motorsports in Ohio. But they get pissy if you hit them.
@@opoxious1592 I understand perfectly. The USA is a land of litigation. Many tracks have been closed down because of NOISE complaints. Too much liability and it doesnt matter what kind of waivers are signed (just look at divorce courts) someone will find a way to sue for big $$$ and win.
So, we basically get fullsize bumper cars.
I really never understood why demo derbies are so big here in NA, but actual banger racing is so rare. I would love to see them race their shitty Neons and Cavaliers before they destroy them.

It's insane to witness this madness in person along the track.
As you can see, the crashes are literally 7 or 8 feet from where you stand behind the fences.
You can feel the impact in you stomac when you are that close.
It's quite an experience, but a fantastic one.

Why do these cars collapse like cardboard? Did they remove the protections / supports?
No, the actually put more strenght in it. The cars need to fold so the drivers wont feel to much of the hit the day after.
If you drive in somebody's rear-end of the car with 50+ Mph, every car collapses like cardboard
No they are just hitting that hard. Try it sometime, hit a car going 50mph and see how well it holds up.
how does no one get seriously injured in this. Some of those hits end inside the car right behind the driver.
Soo much fun! I remember when my uncle chip smashed into a car and immediately another car smashed into his car that wedged him between 2 cars and the wall and than another car at full speed smashed straight into the side of his car crushing him and his car killing him instantly. It was so compacted we ended up burying the crushed car with him still inside. Soo! much fun

These cars must have very good driver protection. They look like old beat-up cars, but the drivers don't appear to get hurt.

@@AutorodeoNederland theres actually fuck all protection in these cars, they dont even have full cages. hans devises arent required. no bucket seats. looking at the way they fold in half with one decent hit im pretty sure most of them have no reinforcement. enjoy it while you can. once the media gets a hold of the next death youll all be shut down

To me the first one looks like a 50 something Chevy bel air and the second one looks like a model T Ford .Either way they are scrap now. To bad some good looking old cars that when gone ,gone for good .

There are always pieces that can delight an owner who restores his car.
If they're at the point of getting used for this, they're almost guaranteed to be rusty shitboxes beyond salvaging. There is absolutely a point where these things are so trashed for various reasons that you could not effectively restore them if you wanted to. You can't just replace the entire frame or every body panel. It sucks, but then again I'd rather they go out like this than getting crushed in a yard or rotting in a field someplace.
Just last week I saw an DS Ambulance that sat around for ever non restored and going for 10K ... so you could have gotten 5K at least for this one ... plus, man they are really rare and would love to own one ... also on the list a checker cab ... both crushed. yeah sad about it but oh well it has happened ... might as well enjoy the madness seeing these being smashed.
Most of those classics are so rotten that they are bought from car collectors who don't know what to do with it. Would love to have such a car myself but i know the state of them before being prepared for these races.

At least most of the videos show 90s cars being smashed ... and in 30 years the next next generation will be crying out whyyy??? heheh Thing is, I totally dig Banger Racing. Would love to see one in England. Just saw two in Germany and they weren't as mad as this. So as a kid games like Destruction Derby aso gave me the kicks haha

@@ladonnagauchat6428 When a car has sustained sufficient fire damage it just isn't worth rebuilding. If it burned out without being put out by emergency responders, you have weak, extremely deformed sheet metal from a totally uncontrolled blaze.
If it was put out by emergency responders, you have quenched metal, which causes it to harden and become brittle. Either way, the car is basically a total loss, especially if it was cheap enough to enter into banger racing without being too cheaty. If you look at a lot of the classic American stuff there, most of it got absolutely deleted by people crashing into it. That's usually because
A: They were so far gone with rot and rust they were just barely holding together, and aren't worth enough to justify restoring since they're not cult cars or famous models of car in any way, just classics.
B: Other fire damaged cars as well
In summary: Europeans are smarter to decide to take a car that for all intents and purposes is going to the crusher anyways, throw in a cheap engine, trans, and have fun and race with it while also giving it a good sendoff rather than what most Americans would do and just let insurance total it out and just go get a new one to baby.

@@BMWLyrre Well, they have a rollcage construction obviously, otherwise the cars wouldn´t stay intact in the area around the driver. And they do have harnesses too!

Holy shit, these cars don't have any roll cages. They really need to have mandatory roll cages in those cars just to protect the passenger compartment from caving in, or else someone is gonna die at one of these events sooner rather than later. I mean, old classic cars like the ones in this video were deathtraps, and not just because they didn't have any seatbelts or airbags- they were notorious for the passenger compartment completely buckling and crushing people, and that would happen in something as minor as a 35 mph crash, let alone multiple people purposely ramming you into a concrete wall from behind. I am appalled by the lack of even basic driver safety in this video.

In the 2017 video - no denying DEATH occured when this wagon slammed into a smaller car that was already accordioned - when finished, the wagon's front bumper was all the way to the front dash - hmmm. wonder what was in between all that mangled metal? I doubt 'jaws of life' would have any helpful role. That said, here I am about to watch this 2018 and I doubt after this if I will watch more - or sub. Too stupid and no regard AT ALL for any safety for the drivers. Death Race 2018 should be the name.
Before 2018 the organisations were allowed to place empty cars on the track so others could just smash it up. Thats what you saw in the 2017 video. In 2018 it was forbidden. The last person who died doing this type of 'racing' was more than 15 years ago because he got out of his car during the race. If it wasnt safe and people would die i doubt if there would be any drivers left by now.
