The writers are not creative with her powers at all. She could be used to gather information with the hearing of a wolf or the sight of a hawk. She could use the spider's ability to climb walls. Someone needs to withstand radiation? She could use the tardigrade. In fights, she could use the agility of a cheetah to take out enemies quickly. The only thing we get from her here is a minor increase in strength. Amaya is a great character that is horribly underused.
I think it would be too much for the show. If they truly tried to utilize her powers to their full potential then they'd have to bring in more powerful enemies. And then characters like Sara, Mick, and Snart would have no chance of keeping up. My thought is they need to upgrade Sara and Mick. Mick needs to gain some sort of super ability like above human strength. And Sara should gain superhuman reflexes and a bump in speed to above normal human levels as well as some sort of insight. That way they can use Vixen more fully without nerfing the others.
I always thought that when she activates her animal power the other characters can't actually see that spirit infusing her. I thought it was just showing us viewers in a cool way. But it seemed that Heatwave (Mick) and Sara Lance were the only two who actually did see it. Or maybe they just sensed it somehow. When fighting Mick she uses the Gorilla and you see his expression, lol!! He doesn't back off because that's just good ole Mick. But he was clearly thrown off. And Sara remarks that it was badass how she lifted the sword. None of the other characters seemed to notice. Even with the dino it seemed they were more impressed at her calming it rather than noticing the spirit. I hope it is the case that her infusions are not seen by many but certain people can notice it. I would think that Mick and Sara would be able to notice it considering their histories.
This Vixen is much less skilled than her granddaughter on ARROW. I like the idea of the character but they don't know what to do with her - unfortunately.
Matthew Markovich I think they just make her use her powers as much because of their budget. That's probably why they only used Firestorm like 3 times this season
I think instead of them showing the animal spirits that Vixen is mimicking, they should have her "say" in her mind what animal she is mimicking (by using voice-overs)...that way she can just "think" of ANY animal she is about to mimic. Plus I think they will stick to using the same animals that we can easily recognize (gorilla, elephant, dolphin, bird, etc, etc) because those are easy for us to know what they are. But if they tried to show the spirits of other animals, we might not know what they are supposed to be. But if she THOUGHT (through voice-overs) about other animals, she could then just mimic those animals as usual. The only difference would be we wouldn't see the animal spirits. Would that cut down on the cost of using special effects for her character?
skullsmasher the voice over would be extremely cringey, wouldn't be as cool and people would just say CW is cheap and cheesy because of that and complain that it feels way to much like a cartoon. So hell no it is a live action show not some cartoon, the way it is now is way better. They just need to stop under estimating her and stop downplaying her, because seriously she is the strongest weapon they have

As an overall summery, yes that is what she is doing, Vixen gains the natural abilities of any animal she can think of. It’s actually really cool, the only reason it doesn’t look cool is because this show is underusing her in a big way. There is a short Vixen cartoon that displays the true strength of her abilities. She can run as fast as a cheetah, use the enhanced eyesight of a falcon to pick out minute details and targets, camouflage like a chameleon to walk unseen, even generate electrical shocks like eels do. Furthermore, she can gain limited control and communication with animals that she channels (as she does with the T-Rex). Problem is that Legends of Tomorrow are underusing those abilities by picking out animals that the audience knows on sight with really obvious powers (case and point; the Gorilla she keeps using for super strength). Sorry if that was a long winded explanation, I just really like this character and think her abilities are super cool and that the show isn’t representing them right. If her skill set just isn’t your preference, that’s fine, just wanted to point out how cool it could be.
