what a geat interior. looks like a fashion living room. Would prefer the Espace over any other Van oder SUV
Karl R Indeed looks cool!
Thank you for this review! It is good to watch in 2020 when you want to buy a used Espace.
HAhahahaha i am here for the same reason. Still doubting which version (engine,...) to buy.
Same here... went for a 2019 Initiale Paris with a petrol engine with 225 BHP... georgeous car, drives like a dream! Which one did you both get?
@@ingmarvandervalk5165 1.6tce or 1.8tce? any issues so far?
@@redwhite_040 went for the 1.8tce. Problems: sold the car already! 2 New automatisch gearboxes and a New driveshaft were needed (1 gearbox in the guarantee period).. it was my dreamcar, but it really became a nightmare 😞.. bought a New Skoda Kodiaq
@@ingmarvandervalk5165 Thanks just what i was afraid of and what you read on different fora.
I will stick with Japanese/Korean cars. Reliability is important as a private buyer.
This car could be presented in 2018 and still look very futuristic, both exterior and interior. Well done Renault!
2023 now and yes!
Fantastic!! By far the best car reviews on YT. Great camera work, great presentation. (I also liked to see the interior light)
Props to Renault - and any other French and Italian car makers - for making cars that make you turn your head after seeing them on the road
Finally a cool big family car ....
I can say only this. You are so good at reviewing cars, going into it with so detail's that when I want to buy I car I look your videos and make final judgement.
Was on local car show today. Espace in Initiale trim made even better impression than Volvo XC 90. It was that good to me.
Listening to Thomas talk about cars never gets old. Nice review!
lettersfromtheleft appreciated, my friend! :)
Very nice review ! Thomas does a really great job giving his feeling about every detail. Thanks !
thanks great to have u here!
Great review , i love how how critical you are , its the kind of stuff that doesnt really make a huge difference but the stuff you will notice after a while owning the vehicle , well done 😎
+tenti1524 thanks m8 !
Absolutely the most stunning Espace ever! Great job Renault :)
Hey camera man we see you. :P Nice review, keep up the good work.
The dead part of steering movement is the most safe and comfortable feature of every car. When you drive mitsubishi Outlander or Alfa Romeo stelvio and every move of the steering is immediately represented in car turning left or right is extremely irritating while driving highways. This direct steering is OK for the racing tracks but not for normal, everyday use.
Very thorough review, I like it. Great job.
Love this violet colour.
Proud to be French, the latest models from PSA and Renault are really well-made !
Kayuki Shin yeah its very classy, called Amethyst!
Hey don't be proud. Be humble.
Raymar Obedoza Hum... Are you really asking a French to be humble?
Thank you very much! it's such amazing idea to review european cars that never come to the U.S or the ones that come to the U.S, but they are diffrent. Also, I love how Thomas attention to small details. keep it up please.
Amir GH Thank you so much!
Best looking (inside and outside) Renault in ages!
Thanks Thomas!
Marko Horvat I agree! Thank you too!
Best car reviewer on YT by far. With Thomas it's all about the car, great attention to detail, no ego.... great stuff thanks Thomas and the Autogefühl gang

Just got mine and your review was key in my decision. Really love the car : very attractive design in and out, super comfortable and tons of features especially for safety. Very happy of my choice ! Thanks for your review!

Hello, after three years, could you give me some advice on which Espace to buy? Which engine,...
So how was your experience with the car is it worth it ?because im thinking to by one and i would like an advise from someone who owned one !did you had problems ?
Love your reviews!
F Carv great to hear that :)
Thanks for review. For me it was very helpful to take purchase decision.
+Wojtek Ziebowicz glad we could help !
interesting review!!!
Keep up the good work!!
Saeed
Saeed Anwar Always great to hear from you Saeed. Yeah, that one was really anticipated and also for me a surprise!
The problem with this car is it's not a real Espace, they should've named it Scenic or Grand Scenic. And make a "real" new Espace, a car for a full family of 6/7 ppl (a biggest car) with seat modularity, confort, space, all the things who make the succes of the first Espace.
Renault was a pionner in this class with Espace, now they just copy or adjust to the concurence.
Problem is that even huge families do not want ordinary big and square minivans now, as those look uglier than more suv or crossover-like cars like Espace.
After 15 months and 30k km i would buy it again and again.
Isn't it too floaty ? Because i want to buy one but im scared it feels too soft
Niels Pithsy I just bought a used one and after a few days of driving it I would say that it is indeed a bit too soft. Maybe better to look for a German car
Thank you so much. Great review. New Espace looks so cool for a family van. Will you also test new Kadjar?
Mert Göktuğ Dedeoğlu Thanks!! Yes indeed, new Kadjar full review will be aired tomorrow / Monday evening European time
Thomas' is the number one guy when it comes to in depth new car reviews !
It must be extremely hard to do this in English ( I would like to see Clarkson do it in German ) !!!
Congratulations and please keep up the good work.
+Paul Jennings love to hear that :) and tell your friends also to tune in Autogefühl!
It's very hard because he had to review a voiture francaise...haha..but detailed review, lovely mpv though .danke sur
It does not get any cooler than this ! What a great car.

I like the style of your glasses frames
Hi Thomas, keep up the great work. I really like your reviews as they are very detailled. In the future will you be reviewing the Kia Sorento and the BMW 5GT ?
Marcel van Geenen Hey Marcel, indeed the new Kia Sorento review is being produced as we speak! :)
I loved this review.Thomas makes interesting to learn from the car ,just using his voice. However the lights outside the van (the violet ones)made it some like hard to see clearly the different modes of dash lights inside. I always look at all Autogefühl
reviews.I think they are one of the best.Very professionals.
Alx li really appreciated!
wonderful professional presentation, nice video.
thanks keep tuning in !
good and complete review, thanks

Nice video, Good luck guys!
Merci!
Personally i think this is a game changer
Excellent review!
Thanks!
Just discovered your channel, what a great review! Today I drove the middle trim Dynamique class of this new Espace and it was a joy to drive, I liked the different drive styles a lot and the middle console is amazing, works so easy and user friendly. Having three kids in the age of 8-12 with sports and friends coming over I would consider this a nice upgrade from our current 7s Toyota Verso. But I think I would go for the Top Trim anyway, if you buy a car like this, I would want it all and not settle for less. Now I am gonna check out the rest of your video's, great work!!
+Poppa N00b thanks! great you joined us now!
Great video and a really nice car! i have the gen. 4, 2.0 petrol and I love it. it's like a living room on wheels!::
+Tilen Majeric thanks for the feedback!
I become your fans very good review as always .....for design wise I like this car different then other cars ...let see the performance how this car react on the road...
khan rustam Thanks, appreciated! Indeed, the car is very unique
SUPER REVIEW !!!
Forced Adventure thanks!!
Very interesting review Thomas. The styling is certainly unique , inside and out. I especially like the ability to change the color of the ambient lighting , something that I wish more manufacturers offered. I think it adds to the overall driving experience by surrounding the driver and passenger in a visually stunning environment. This vehicle seems to offer a nice blend of practicality and style. Too bad Renault doesn't market their vehicles in the U.S. Great review !
fhkazm thanks!! Indeed a very unique car, I liked that
fhkazm it s not only the color but it changes several parameters , the handling too and others things
Such a stunning car all the chrome accents makes me think that knife engineers designed this car ! Sharp and Sleek ultra modern almost futuristic
Great design, great car!
Finding a premium looking and practical 7-seater is hard these days, so this car has little to no competition. BMW 2 Gran Tourer just isn't big enough, while Sharan, Alhambra and Galaxy are out of the question from design point of view. BMW X5 and Volvo XC90 are indeed premium 7-seaters, but the price is significantly higher than Espace.
Mazda cx9
Thanks for that great review. Which 7 seater car would you recommend among S-Max, Espace, BMW S2 Gran tourer ? any other?
AWS (All wheel steer) technology was used by Honda some 20 years back but dies off soon after. it's nice to see Renault brings this back again. The interior trimming still a long way to improve, as the sun shield were rattling while driving, taking the Vito as benchmark is another approach. The weird shifter could be replaced by Jaguar/Range Rover-like knob which combines with hand writing recognition. Disappointingly Espace reduce in size. big on the outside and small on the inside~ soon it will be eaten alive by Japanese & Korean options. how Thomas wishes the roof will raises up instead of the side mirrors when he approaches the car LOL! Notice that the date on the screen was 11.06.2015 when the car was test driven and this video was uploaded 2 days later. how efficient & productive the crew works ! well done Autogefuhl team !
Calvin So Calvin, thanks for your interesting feedback - very good aspects! And I am glad someone noticed that with the date :-)
Do not destroy the trunk cover... ;-) Just pull at either right or left end cap of the cover to get it out. Works really easy.
Great review
thank you!
I personally like the exterior design! A 4x4 version would be nice!
PS. The cameraman should point the camera to the subject, not somewhere else! ;) Just a general example: The person shows something in his hand, but the camera is pointed to his face.
Superb exterior for any other cars
Thank you watching in 2021
Great looking front end to that car. The rear 3/4 still looks like a van though! I guess they're constrained by packaging objectives would a sloped rear screen would have looked better.
I love the neelw Renault Espace, that I'll get one!!!
FOREVER RENAULT!
Lately, Renault have been releasing cars that resemble my childhood dreams about future cars. Or space shuttles, can't remember exactly.
Keren dan ditunggu utk launching-nya di Indonesia...
👍👍💜💙👍👍
They should have stayed with the rail system starting from the passenger seats and going all the way back to the door of the boot. The comfort of the passengers in the old model is comparable to the comfort of flying in first class. I'm 1,94m and I can stretch my legs with not even touching the seat in front of me with a single toe and we still have enough space for luggage for 4 persons for a 3 week trip! The rail system was one of the biggest reasons why my dad bought the Espace in the first place, for comfort and practicality.
Very good review. I was expecting your opinion of this car, that will rival with the S-max that you also reviewed very good. I think this one is one step up, in quality materials and constrution, and i really whant to see the seeling values of that two. Is the S-Max sporty MPV have now a matching competitor....
The new BMW Serie 2 Grand tourer will be the best seeling in Germany but in rest of europe i dont now.
Pedro Casal Thanks Pedro! I think the unique selling point of this car is that is has a character - and therefore it outnumbers the competitors for customers that search a special car
+Pedro Casal I don't think the 2 series MPV is anywhere in this segment.
Good review
Just love it !!!
I like brand new Espaces!! It made odysseys, galaxies, and sharans look aged in comparison!! I think this is 1 of the prettiest minivans out there and if Momo Yaoyorozu is a car this will be it.
Thanks a lot for the great review!
+Igor Jevtic 🙏🙏
Watching on ipad - very low sound. Car is beautiful.
I want this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Thomas! Now we know how to pronounce your full name when we're in Germany :)
Yet again, another marque we no longer see in Canada. The "Le Car" was the last Renault here back in the late 70s.
Nice to see an alternate design. Not sure about the massive blind spot on the rear pillar.
You'll be happy to know my wife and I both chose leatherette in our bimmers 🐮😄
Mario Dalla Riva hehe, specially for you! Wow, that sounds great :-) Did they tell that officially in the price list? Quite often, they try to hide the differences
***** Thank you,my friend! :)
Yes, the dealer makes the choice transparent. In Canada, in fact we only can choose from the synthetic leather or real leather. No fabric seats available (?!?).
In my opinion, the fake looks as good as the leather so why bother as you say...
Nice to see Porsche do so well in France this morning! I got up a 4am to watch the final two hours.
Great to see Nico on the top step for once :)
Mario Dalla Riva Sounds great with the dealers in Canada! Yeah indeed a big win for Porsche!
+Mario Dalla Riva Actually he pronounced his way the wrong way, like an English speaker would...Very strange.
Great review, just love it, will that car be coming to Mexico ??? because they have Renault in Mexico
abel mesina Thanks! Well if you have Renault in Mexico, I think so, because this is _the_ prestige car of Renault
Thank you, I will check whit them on that. Because not all models are sent here.
abel mesina If you got the info, feel free to post here so others also know!
Nice and professional video.
Could you tell us how tall you are? Is it a car for a 1,85 m driver?
+2104KF 1,86 m :) thanks !
can you please tell me somethibg about floor storage? and seats storage? does the new espace have some or not? for example a have a gr. scenic 2012 and i have driver floor 1 storage place plus 2 more at middle seats and in almost every seat a storage :-) i hope they did it with the new espace too! THANK YOU! YOU ARE DOING GOOD JOB WITH THIS VIDEOS
What if this new van have its F1 version?....The sound of old Espace F1 is sick
does look a nice place to be
Beautiful car, now an electric version please :) They could if they get the price right really fight with Mercedes and Audi for sales with this car. It's a super comfortable drive. But they need to do some little details around the interior that would give it that extra "thing".
I think bringing escape to India would be super great idea for renault...by 2016
Great rewiev. I was looking for your rewiev of the grand scenic. I can't fint it ? What's the difference between these cars?
thanks! Renault hardly hands out press vehicles to online media, sorry :/
Congratulations Thomas, greetings from Greece. Amazing review. I have three children and am interested in this car. I have 3 questions. 1. I am 190 cm tall. Will I be comfortable in the driver's seat? 2. Is the second row of seats comfortable for adults up to 180cm tall? 3. what is the average fuel consumption lt/km in this model?
I saw a lot of these in Belgium.
Hello.
I've watched carefully the car presentation. I suppose that the S-Max, Sorento and Touran would be the competitors.
About this new Espace, while I like the exterior appearance, personally I have a problem with the inside of the car: I am not a fan of so many shiny surfaces (many and big). That "integrated" digital console looks extremely complex (in a bad way, the interface is too loaded, changing 3-4 times the windows on the screen to make an option work, I wouldn't want to use it).
From the video, I can't say for what is used that little window on the dashboard. From the price point of view, I don't understand why "they" (all of them, Renault, Volvo, Ford, Volkswaggen etc) can't use a more futuristic display solution, to see the GPS on the windshield for example - by the help of the projector (I think), but I saw some other solutions, something like a window on the dashboard (just as the one that you put up there).
You said that in the trunk is a bass system - I would very much prefer to have the spare wheel there.
Thank you for the car presentation - it is nicely done. Right now I don't need such a car, but when I will need one, I will make sure to compare some of the same type. Plus this car is soooo expensive, I assume that this is caused by the highest options that you mentioned.
As a side note, I appreciate your reviews. I check more sites when comparing cars, my favorite is www.turatii.ro/category/cars/ (Romanian language only, unfortunately), but it is very nice to have more opinions when looking for something (if it is not allowed to place external links, please let me know and I will remove it from my message).
Dear Autogefühl
If you had to choose between a used 2016 Espace Initiale Paris dci and a used 2017 Mazda CX-5 Spots-Line AWD AT 175, what would you choose?
I live in Croatia so I do not really need 4wd except when going to Austria to ski, while on the other hand I do not have a big family so maybe I do not need the (E)space...thank you for your thoughts
Can you test the Grand Scenic with the 1.33 tce benzine engine?
That is awesome. I feel they have taken it upon themselves to bring back the real french design that PSA murdered from Citroen.
+Foranamo you are right, when i watched the Autotest, i also thought that Renault is right now taking the citroen`s past Position.
I LOVE RENAULT!!!
I love this car
That rear wheel turning was kinda invisible ;)
Shame we won't get it in the UK.
I'm also curious to know which part of Germany do you do these test drives in? My guess is Schwabia!
+Mike Attard we test all over Europe. This here was close to the Nürburgring (Eifel)
Thanks Autogefuhl for that tacit agreement. They are lovely looking vehicles. The last Renault Espaces suffered from electrical and mechanical gremlins, which caused residuals to be very very poor. German cars have reliability issues but these tend to be just a bit annoying and to do with electronic sophistication. The Espace problems were often terminal on older cars. This is a shame because they were quite stylish.
thanks for joining us david
Mercedes has worked with Renault ( mercedes owns shares in renault now ) to ameliorate the quality .But the dashboard should be better for some plastics .I don't understand why renault doesn't dare or doesn't want to put Premium materials inside ( like Audi for example ) .
nice design
i like your Review about the car, for me it is a comfort alternative to the BMW 5series and it is cheaper, i will have a look at it
+Hans Wurst thanks!
When will this launch in india...pls reply..and what pricing
Looks Beutiful
that top trim is expensive, but if the lower trims ressemble anything to that, its really impressive...beautiful and functional car:)
Jo Loui Yeah indeed it is quite reasonable in price still
Jo Loui Lower trims look the same inside, except for the leather seats and wood trim, but you get a nice gray aluminium looking trim instead which looks even better.
k..looks like a great car then,..thanks
Bring this car to the UK
I wish this will come in India too...
Looks lovely..but too small inside..guess can't upgrade my Espace Iv to this. with Renault engineering don't fancy repairs on rear wheel steering. The electronic handbrake on Espace causes too many problems. And 160 bhp from 1.6 diesel..how long can that last ?
Beautiful car. I disagree that the 130 hp diesel isn’t powerful enough. You just have to go for manual transmission then. My biggest complaint with this car is the feel of the steering. It’s too soft and the same can be said about the suspension which is a little too soft for my taste
wow your cars is so nise
Shame that Renault won't be selling the new Espace here in the UK. This new model is probably the best looking mpv at the moment. I also really liked the Aventime 2 door mpv all those years ago. A guy at work still has his green Avantime and he's had alot of people coming up to him asking how much would he sell it to them for.
+JohnMichael Pierce Stop that left driving shit and you will probably get more cars in the future ;o)
+kraenk12 its not as simple as 'stopping that left driving shit'. As a Briton, I feel that it would make trans-continental travel much easier should we have LHD. but the whole infrastructure of the UK is built around RHD, so we couldn't really do it because of the constant invasion into parliament of pillocks like Jeremy Corbyn.
