Hi my name is Danielle, welcome to my True Crime and Makeup series! I’ve been interested in true crime for the longest time now, what started with me watching true crime on TV with my Nan from a young age eventually turned into studying for a degree in Law & Criminology.
When I first watched Bailey Sarian’s series I was completely hooked, I loved how she had combined two of the things I’m most passionate about and delivered it so well. She totally inspired me to take the leap and do the same thing on my channel, so all credit for the idea goes 100% to her.

Proof that as a women, no matter how modest you dress/act, creeps still gonna creep. That’s why I hate victim blaming. We are not responsible for men being psychotic predators🤷♀️
EXACTLY. So many people victim blame my best friend and I, we were both attacked but because we dress a bit unconventionally ‘we deserved it.’ According to creeps we ‘brought it on ourselves.’ Even if you wear a bikini outside; predators are supposed to be the ones to stop themselves, not the clothes victims wear or the way we act, or whether they’re sober or not.
What you're not taking into account is that the amount of creeps increase the more attention you gain by not dressing modestly. There is some personal accountability to be held by women when it comes to self preservation. It's not a woman's fault if she gets victimized, but it is her responsiblity to reduce the chances of it happening as much as possible.

The courts failed Mary so horribly. The fact he was able to physically harm her during a hearing absolutely blows my mind. Like this man has already attempted to assault her in court and they didn’t think to keep him more restrained?? She is so so strong.
My thoughts exactly..... When Danielle got to that part I actually thought about how the police protected Jeffrey Dahmer in court when one of the victim's sister went over to the bench and started yelling at him... The way the cops acted swiftly to remove Jeffrey yet in this case a victim was further abused by the perpetrator right in front of the police like how does that happen 😢
She should have sued the county court as it was their fault he wasn't restrained,,, just shows how crimes against women were treated so mildly back then

His mother has a lot of responsibility here- instead of stepping up and getting her CHILD some psychiatric help, she was complicit in his horrific behaviour as a bystander.

As an 11 year old, he had to have seen this behavior of "lower" hierarchy family members as "servants" somewhere. They must have been doing this for the dad and then the mom just endorsed it, therefore when he died she endorsed the new behavior from him as well. Disgusting.

Yes it was just heartbreaking hearing that. Because now he has confirmation because he asked if he could talk to him and then the little girl didn't say anything about there not being him she just said no. It's so hard to listen to because he's on the verge of tears

Mary is one of the strongest women this world has ever seen. Going to your kidnapper’s trial multiple times and even returning after he attacked her. That’s just totally strong. I’m so glad that Mary and Beth are healing and survived this insane horrific man. His mugshot photo is so scary I had to look away everytime he was onscreen

I really blame the courtroom staff for letting Ming near Mary on the witness stand scarring her for life.

Him cutting the hole under their bed is one of my worst fears. I read a story once of this couple who got home from vacation and their front door was open a little, but they checked their whole house and found nothing. But then that night when they were in bed, the mattress started moving and they heard noises under it. Turns out some woman who was tripping balls/high as a kite was under there, in the box spring, with a knife, trying to cut through the bottom of their mattress. Ever since I heard that story, I always check under my bed before i go to sleep because that is terrifying. This guy was looney tunes.

That is terrifying! In my country it would be impossible to cut a hole trough the floor though, the houses are all brick and cement, very sturdy and thick walls and floors. Very glad I don’t need to have that fear ahah 🙏🏼

I heard that story too that scared the ever loving you know what out of me and I already would run and leap onto my bed (I have this fear that if someone is under my bed they would use the knife to cut my ankle or something so I couldn’t run) so yeah I’m with you on that one!

The fact that his siblings had a LITERAL PARENT that they went for some sort of help/protection/support, for some justice to be places upon their brother, (bc how could someone who’s also a son of their parents, get to treat them this way and get away with it) and bc of deep-rooted patriarchy and internalised sexism, the mother didn’t even see herself as an authoritative figure or a head of a household is soooo bizarre. What a way to inject inflated ego and grandeur sense of self in a teenager…

He wasn't even a teenager. He was 11. Still that is crazy how an 11 year old had such authority over his own mother.
This was more about the culture in one way, and the father's issues in another. Beyond that I cannot think of the words to describe this terrible case.
Yeah if I have kids I’ll raise them with equality, like each person has the power to advocate for others when they see something. No shutting up and letting bad stuff go on simply because of your biological sex. See Something, Say Something or Do Something, regardless of your biological sex.
Reading some history, it's amazing how the more ancient cultures had a much more equal standing amongst men and women. The Vikings, some indigenous Indian tribes, Egyptians, to name a few, held women in high regard, valuing their input and opinions, with many becoming tribal leaders and commanders. Patriarchy is really a social construct more specific to certain cultures and times.
I’m really curious about Ming’s relationship with his father🤷🏽♀️ why did he assume that being the man of the house man, being aggressive and abusive? And why was the mother so go with the flow when it came to being abusive to the two younger sons? It’s like she was used to it and the father used to do it as well.

I really hope Charles and Ron came out of this better than Ming, and hopefully didn’t continue this controlling and abusive pattern of behavior.
Part of me thinks that he indeed got atleast some of this behavior from his father. To say it’s disgusting is an understatement.
This had to be going on when the father was alive. Sounds like mom and dad are just as messed up as their son. I think his mom got a kick out of her son's perversion towards her.
I feel for Jason's friend Tim too. I hope he has done okay. That would be such a weight for him to deal with at such a young age. I think his youth was also cut short. Best wishes to him also!❤

I love Mary’s bravery and the many examples she set for Beth throughout the traumatizing experience. I love her determination to survive, escape, and protect her daughter.
Hearing the dad hold back tears and trying to stay strong on that call broke my heart.
Seriously, he stayed so calm as to not traumatize his daughter more than she already was. He sounds like a gem.
Mary was so incredibly brave. She went through all of that horror, then on the stand was assaulted AGAIN and still went back to make sure he would be put away for as long as possible.
I’ve heard of this case, but there are details I probably haven’t heard in this video. Hearing Beth call her father makes me feel panic for her, I can’t imagine what she was thinking at the time. What Ming did to his teacher is horrifying, how he treated his siblings who were 6 AND 3 is heartbreaking…accelerating his pathway to becoming an abuser so young is chilling. How Mary showed up to every trial to keep him behind bars is incredible, and the fact that her and Beth are thriving now is heartwarming. Thank you Danielle for all of your wonderful work, love you lots!

one of the scariest things about this story is how his obsession went on for YEARS and she has no idea. What a nightmare.

Imagine being that group of teens that walked away laughing at Beth after she told them she and her mother was abducted.
Imagine finding out later on the news that the girl they had laughed at was telling the truth.

Thank god he told them where Jason was. We can't always bring victims home. My heart aches for Jason, and Jason's family. I really hope they were able to live on with their lives. I could never imagine what they went through.

Dude, I really think he was autistic with a personality disorder, and this sends a shiver down my spine. I say this as an autist myself, and it's 100% not an excuse for his behaviour, just something that freaked me out a lot.

In his fantasy stories, he would always kidnap the women in order to “rescue” her. He thinks that Mary is trapped in her life.
Well, clearly she would fear reprecussions for escaping her life and try to return to her husband out of fear. Not because she truly wants to. He would have to convince her she was finally safe and doesn't have to run back to her husband.
This could also be a conflict between his rational mind and his delusions. His rational mind thinks 'she will run away' while his delusional mind makes up absurd reasons as for why she would do such a thing when they 'belong together'.

can you imagine the nightmares Mary must have? the kidnapping of her & Beth, the repeated rapes, seeing Beth be traumatized, imagining what her husband & son were going thru, the fear filled escape, coming face to face at the police station, testifying at trial where he screamed at her, finding out little Jason was murdered, Ming lunging at Mary AGAIN at trial & cutting her face ...that is the stuff of nightmares. if that was me, i already know my nightmare on repeat would be sitting on the witness stand, seeing him lunging at me with the knife knowing he is trying to murder me...poor mary, beth and Jason...all innocent victims of a creepy, perv psycho
Yes and to think that he is still alive, incarcerated (child murder should be a death penalty I'm sorry) and the trauma and fear of thinking this guy could escape or whatever has to be a recurring nightmare for them... all the searching and stalking he did back in the 70s, imagine what he could do nowadays with the internet!? 🥶

As a psychiatrist, Ming is an excellent case of erotomania, and he kinda reminds me of one of my first patients... A man in his fifties, who would follow me after work 😱
How did you handle that? How does someone even begin to treat that?
Hi ! We discussed it openly with him and a trusted member of his family. We ended up agreeing on putting him on meds especially designed to reduce pulsions. I protected myself by constantly having a male collegue around in the next room. We agreed on changing psychiatrists if he didn't stop. He did. A few month later he told me he was really relieved because the pulsions were painful, so much so that he had nausea when it happened. It took a while but it's treatable, with a bit of luck and a lot of care !@@lexyshannon9428

Culture does not excuse what he did to his brothers. His mother clearly had some inappropriate relationship with her son (not saying she did things sexually, but still inappropriate).
Most older siblings know that when some one says your head of the house that just means to look out for your younger siblings and help the surviving parent out.

How awful it must have been then learning about the Father’s Day phone call and having hope again that he was alive then when they were rescued finding out he wasn’t there. Absolutely tragic. I genuinely do think Ming will be a danger to Mary and her family if he ever gets out. I'm sure they'll all breathe a sigh of relief when he kicks the bucket.

The complete and utter shock that I was in when you read parts of his novels. It’s actually so ridiculous how delusional he was, and the fact that he firmly believed he was God’s gift to women makes the novels even funnier when I hear how he described it. Obviously it’s horrific he thought that, but let’s admit, the writing style was honestly a bit funny to listen to
Stories. >.< To be a novel, a book has to be at LEAST 90k words. (She said Ming's were about 15k. Not even close.)
Also - romance is the largest genre sold, and sex scenes arent easy to write. Dont knock it until youve tried it.

I had no idea that the brother was living in the house with the victims! I would've found his behavior suspicious, but for your telling of how Ming treated his brothers. Poor Mary and Elizabeth. Here's a case for you to cover, Artemio Sanchez, the serial rapist and murderer known as the bike path rapist from Buffalo, NY. He terrorized the Buffalo area for decades and an innocent man spent over 20 years in prison for Sanchez's crimes. I look forward to your next video.

Mary is a brave woman. I'm glad she has her faith and she and her daughter made it out of the grips of that sick lunatic. That monster should have gotten the death penalty for killing that little boy and for what he did to Mary and her daughter.
Makes me angry that they allowed this man to attack her. I mean he has a history of trying to attack her at trials. They should’ve taken extra precautions because of this and how was he allowed to get a knife into the court room ? He should’ve been checked better then that, absolutely insane
Surely, when they found ming needed further psychiatric help, they would have told his mother so. Surely, when it didn't happen, they could have chased it and got the error corrected? His mother must have known he needed help??? With all his behaviour with her?? This man clearly needed help. The break in to marys parents demanding mary should have been followed up on too. Although, his having threatened her daughter to get her to come with him, and having restraints set up, i cant see how that adds up with his thinking she loved him and would want him to "rescue" her from her husband? Also how did those teenagers think beth was joking? Whats wrong with them? Irving sounds oddly calm as if hes expecting the call in the tape? Seems strange but I'm sure it was some comfort. This was an absolute roller coaster of a case! I can't even begin to imagine the fear and trauma that Mary and her precious daughter have felt. They are both amazing strong women who deserve nothing but the absolute best of everything!
