Here's a variation for three english braids wich I call a megabraid; section your hair into three (one in the back and one on each side). Braid each section like you normally would do (remember to braid the side sections close to the back section). When all the three sections are braided braid them together. The result is thicker than normal english braid and the texture of it makes people ask how on earth you did it. Greetings from Finland!

I do something similar! In one braid for my entire head i braid one of the 3 sections so when i go to braid the 1 french or english braid its more like one plait and 2 sections of loose hair i plait that to about chest to waist length about when it gets harder to plait and the hair thins out a bit and then i tie it off and split the loose end into two and rope braid inwards to the centre of my body and when i get to about a finger length left i pull down the hair tie and secure it at the end of the rope braid so my braid turns into a rope braid at the end it reminds me of anime princess hair how whenever then have pigtails or loose hair the ends always curled even if the rest of their hair is straight i do this on the other side making sure the rope braid also goes into the centre of my body which means i do the opposite direction than the other one.
Becausw on my hair anyway ive found rope braids make my hair very hard to brush out and they get knotty and tangled easily and can become more dread lock like this is a more special occasion type braid that i save for the ball so to speak like weddings or such events when i know pictures will be taken ans also one of the few occasions i wear makeup so yeah if my hair behaved id do it all the time and i find it takes away the sorta oktober fest sleezy vibes and makes it look more fairytale or viking instead of sexualised by dummys.
My hairs only reaches past my bottom but the bulk of it would be to my hips it tapers/thins after that. I can really only wear it in a french braid or it gives me a headache and it stays in for 3 ish days before i need to wash my hair and i use rosehip oil when i brush and braid after washing and also when i brush it out before washing usually let the oil soak in for an hour at least before hand and just enjoy having my hair loose usually at that time ill be massaging my head or doing a sheet mask or other beauty things even if im just having a nap or eating some icecream 😂 its my leave me alone im resting time. But yeah ive been looking for different hairstyles that as it grows past probably the waist even having it in a french braid it gets in the way. Either by sitting on it or dropping it into things but of course having it up hurts even a low bun so wrapping over head ive tried but it always slipped out or looks weird on me like my face is very round so maybe thats it but yeah it looks more like im dressing in a costume than just putting my hair up 😂 my hairs too slippery to even hold curls and now that its heavier it really can barely hold itself up ive found the no hair tie twisted bun works amazing add a bair stick and its more secure but yeah i prefer braids i really get why rapunzel did the one long braid anything else feels like a marathon its easier to jut dress it up with hair combs and barrettes and flowers and little twist in hair jewellery 😂

Calf-length hair here and my favourite hair-style "hack" is very, very history-bounding appropriate. It is called the modified Elling Woman braid. It is a simplified version of the hairstyle from a bog body dated to the Iron Age. It is very practical and does not even need any tools and I can farm in it, run, do yoga and it stays in place so well! Loepsie and Silvousplaits both have good videos showing how to do it.

Another benefit of starting to braid two English braids with the back section first, like you showed in the video, is that it makes the back of the scalp hair along the parting lay flat against the head, wich is much more comfortable to wear.
Ps. Definitely going to try this, even though my hair is 'only' hip length.

the bow with the little pocket thing is called a snood. it was used very commonly in medieval Europe to keep women's hair out of the way under the veils. (it came back in fashion about maybe 30 or so years ago with bows and jewels/pearls etc to dress it up and make it modernised. It's how I got one, a pretty blue pearly thing. Sadly it's packed away right now, but soon...)
But omg Anna, I needed this a couple of days ago. My daughter has butt-length hair and I was trying to recreate your crown braids on her hair but it kept slipping down. I didn't know your handy dandy trick to keep it in place. I will try that next time (this afternoon? lol). Thank you so much for sharing this. 💖

Yessss more long hair tutorials!!!! I’ve started tying the ends of my braids with yarn, as I have it readily available and it doesn’t snag and pull out your hair. Plus if you wrap it correctly, it gives you vaguely medieval “I tie my hair with leather” vibes without the leather. If I’m putting my hair up, I’ll just tie it round the end a few times and then wrap the excess yarn around the end and tie it off again but if I’m leaving it down I’ll actually weave it into the ends of the braids and then tie it off and that way it never falls off. Basically what Morgan Donner does in one bit of her hair sewing video

Put in a loose ponytail and then curl the ends and later take the ponytail out,cut the ribbon off or other things used then bundle up the hair to a comfortable clamp, then take out the curlers, having cascading curls going downward or pile up on top, arrange curls and it’s versatility for your day👍❣️🥰

I’ve been loving using hair sticks lately. I got one standard size one and two small size ones and I’ve found there are so many variations and possibilities. Having the two small ones on hand definitely makes it easier to secure all my hair in one bun.
Also I’ve found that a single loose braid makes a nautilus bun so much more secure for my very straight hair, being able to poke the hair stick through the braid and knowing it won’t unravel and slide out within an hour is a definitely making my life better

My favorite way to make long hair look shorter & more "cute" is to tie it into a knot on top of my head, leaving the ends hanging out like a little ponytail, then put two hair sticks through the knot to hold it in place. OMG, I love the butterfly clips too! I had half a dozen pastel glittery ones that I used when my hair was short. When my hair grew out, I couldn't find more of the same to hold my hair, but found a set of twelve clips shaped like little polka-dotted bows. People often mistook them for butterflies.

I have been moving a lot over the past 20 years and many times I am without mixing bowls ....I just used the pot I had and it worked out well, in fact the lid helped the bread rise with out plastic wrap or foil...so I multi purpose the pots I have into mixing bowls. And the big silver serving spoon stirs the pots on the stove....

More inspiration to grow my bra strap length hair out some more (even though I just fell prey to my old bangs habit again). I love your creative styles! I recently started doing milkmaid braids with "peatl" embellished mini claw clips instead of Bobby pins and I love the way it looks. I use 5 or 7 depending, so it is secure and fancy. I also place the braids towards the back of my head and sometimes wear a long rectangular scarf too, for extra flair.

This hairstyle reminds me of the Queen Calanthe hairstyle you did a tutorial on an while back. I love that one and have done a ton of variations on it, but I can never get the front sections to stay put for long (and I refuse to start using hairspray). I'll definitly play around with this one too.
Oh and by the way, those dog ear loops are called "Affenschaukeln" (meaning monkey swings) in german. They were pretty popular when my granny was a kid and the girls would ware them variing in length from right around the ears all the way down to touching the shoulders.

The tip I want to share is a summer food hack.
When you buy a watermelon, begin by peeling the outer green coarse skin, then peel out the light green and pink rind, when you’re left with a red ball of watermelon flesh, slice it to de-seed it then cube it..
Freeze part of the cubes to make smoothies, nice creams or sorbets (no need to add sugar).
Eat the remaining cubes in fruit salads or savory salads.
With a mandolin, make ribbons with half of the rind, use part of them to make tsukemono or kimchi. Use the remaining ribbons as noodles.
Finely dice the rest of the rind and cook it with half its weight in sugar, to make jam.
And, last but not least, thoroughly wash the seeds and put them to sprout, sprinkle the sprouts on your salads, sandwiches, etc…
There’s so much food in a watermelon 🍉 it’s just amazing.
Looking forward to reading other suggestions!

@@PrettyShepherd There is a whole movement around this: From leaf to root 👍 Our everyday food items offer so much more for humans to consume safely and even with benefits to our health (dietary fiber is such an important but totally overlooked part of human nutrition) than just the few parts most modern humans have learned to use but chop away and throw away the rest. Which is so sad when we think about how much work and effort went into growing those plants 😊

The special item for me is 100% cornflour, used both for cakes (I like baking) and my homemade dry shampoo (I do wet shampoo once every 2 weeks - hair is currently midback and I have a lot of it so wet shampoo is a bit of a chore and I'd rather be more economic on water usage + preserve my scalp). Because I have brown hair, I tone the white of the flour down with some rhassoul (for black hair, it can be done with charcoal powder, and cinnamon for red hair). I also like to live tiny and am currently in the process of getting rid of anything I have no proper use for, so yeah, multi-purpose goods are 10/10 for me!

I like to take my super long braids and I double them up using a ribbon to wrap them together. For me I keep finding more and more potential in pin curls with my hair. Its just around my bum, and I keep finding that pin curls, fingerwaves look so pretty on super long hair with some flax seed gel. And you can use them in so many ways.
