Great start to a long overdue series on building a solid foundation we all can use. This series will be very helpful for beginners and advanced modelers alike. A refresher always helps to reset the basics, which over time we all tend to overlook. Thanks Donn for your commitment to the hobby.
Old man a reminder is always appreciated especially when you're not neat and orderly like me Thank you for doing this on CZcams it seems as if though we're picking up some youngin Looking forward to the rest of the series
This is a great tutorial on how to start a model kit. Everyone needs to develop their own method to building, but their method need to be similar to what is presented here. Thank you for sharing your insight.
Donn, another great video! I like the way you think! Great advice for the new / younger model builders. Working on your patience, persistence and developing your building method are crucial things. Model car building actually becomes more fun as the years go by. P.S. My friend. Never knew about DAWN dish soap before seeing your videos. The stuff is wonderful and it has become an indispensable part of my building process. Thanks.
Thank you sir. I'm just now getting back into the hobby after close to 50 years. I've been overwhelmed with all the new products and procedures on preping and painting. The last kit I built was with testors tube glue and small enamel jars.
Great idea for a series Donn. Thank you for taking the time to show us all the right way to prep, paint and build a model. I appreciate your commitment to this hobby and to those of us that follow your techniques.
This is such an exciting prospect for car modelers, Donn! I thinks it’s awesome that we will have an opportunity to learn from one of the masters of the hobby. Looking forward to more installments!
Great video with so many helpful tips! Thank you for your input. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Happy new year Don, from denmark Europe, Will definitely be following this series. although I've been building for +35 years, I'm never too old to learn new tricks, like have been a little hesitant to do the bag thing, maybe because I fear not having the numbers, to find the right parts, but the way you are explaining it, it makes sense, so maybe I'll just give it a try
I agree with you Donn, a great model starts with great preparation. It is the key to anything you do. Look forward to the next video. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year and have a great day. Terry
Thank you brother, even with my experience it is still nice to be reminded that we should always maintain an order when building our kits. Happy New Year loco hombre!!!
Great to see you back on You Tube 'Old Man' ;) After getting your DVD's it's good to move on to more of your ideas. Although you never did cover how you paint the inside of your bodies after removing the Pipe/Tape nipple. I assume you brush it in. I always spray the inside first then mask and do the outside, be curious to see your method on that.
Great video & this is going to be an outstanding series, I can’t wait for the next episode! This is the exact information I needed, I have a few kits but wasn’t sure how to get started the right way so they have been sitting. 9:43 well said, I’m a first time builder but I want my project to represent my best work. I want to approach my first project the same way a seasoned expert would so I can try to eliminate as many variables (me) as possible. Thank you for taking the time to make this video & share your knowledge, truly appreciate it sir.
Great to see ya back Donn! .I have all your dvds and I always check back here to see if you have put any new vids out .I'm glad to see your putting new vids out again love your work brother
Just a brief note to say how much I enjoyed the Friday Fundamentals CZcams video ... very informative ... straightforward ... no nonsense ... well shot and edited ... great job!!! Keep them coming please
Great info. Whether your a newbie or seasoned builder, I feel this is necessary to remind us of basics. Thanks for the info and spending your time and effort on this series.👍
Appreciate the time and effort you put in to share the knowledge. I personally learnt a lot from your DVD's. You should show the series by starting a topic on MCM forum in the Tips ,Tricks and Tutorial section . I think it would help a lot of people.
Looking forward to following this series. Do you wash your parts trees before separating parts, or is it better to wait to wash parts until just before painting?
Excellent advice for builders of any skill level ( I’ve watched other videos in this series so…) Quick question though - when unboxing a new kit, shouldn’t one of the first things to do, is to wash the parts in (at least) luke-warm, mild soap water and thoroughly rinse ? (But maybe , that’s a given (?) - just didn’t see or hear you mention it - of course, that process may come later in your build(s).
Anybody notice that the B&M Hydromatic in this kit (actually the bell) has a GM (Chev) bolt pattern behind the early Hemi ?? Suspect the pattern was copied off a vehicle w/ an adapter plate.
Hey Old Man !- as a "newbie ", I keep things on the sprue so I know where a part that I don't recognize goes ( according to the directions )- do you have a hint for me until I can get more comfortable in identifying obscure parts
Why don't you use spru cutters I would never ever cuts parts with a knife get you some godhands best money you will ever spend or some Tamiya cutter.. do you airbrush your kits or do you use Rattle cans. I'm a full time model builder model German ww2 Aircrafts and tanks trucks Really just any vehicle that the German use I build for a few Military museums .I just saw your video and it reminded me of my days as a kid when I did cars .
When buying your X-acto blades - - don't buy the cheap, Chinese knock-off brands. They break too easy AND if the tips don't break, they get dull really fast.
i need help mr.yost i need someone who can do resin parts for me or 3d print parts for me can you help me thank you wayne i can't blame you if you can't
