At the age of 12, Nora works as a water & peanut vendor at the train station of Iriga, Camarines Sur. According to my father who is then a train waiter, Nora sometimes climbs up the train and sell water when the train stops over in Iriga station and in order to sell more of her water, she sometimes serenades passengers.
She was later discovered by Mar Lopez, (one of the biggies of the D’ Big 3 Sullivans) during a 20-minute train stop-over at Iriga station in Bicol where there was an amateur singing contest nearby the station.
And the rest is history.
She became the artist with the most singles in Philippine recording history (with more than 260 singles). Overall she has recorded more than 500 songs.
She has notched more than 30 gold singles.
In 1971, Nora Aunor became more popular for her cover of "Pearly Shells"

I read a trivia that during her hayday maybe it was the 70s (I was born in the 80s so I personally do not know) the Jackson 5 visited the Philippines and Michael Jackson asked who is the most famous singer in the Philipines during that time and wants to meet with, no other singer or artist more famous than Nora Aunor that time it seems. so apparently the producers , organized for a meet up with Nora Aunor and Michael Jackson. there’s even photos of them together in the internet..obviously those photos of the pair for collaborative photoshoot in that era.
Not only she gains so much music award,.gold and platinum awards..she gains also the highest award here and abroad as best actress..in Philippines she titled as Super Star,..the highest title can ever have..and because of that,.her all outstanding contribution in music, acting and performance she given the most outstanding award here in Philippine as Nationas Artist
