The Venomoth The Switch itself sold more consoles in its first 6 months than Wii U in its entire lifetime. Mario Kart 8 was a fantastic game sold on a console no one was buying. Now the deluxe version is on a console everyone is buying. Nintendo learned from their mistakes.

Thats like saying you can just play smash against a cpu or your friends. We are aware of that. What he is saying is that a service which is free RIGHT NOW as i type is going to be a paid service soon. Just because I theoretically can just not use it a big portion of the game's entertainment relies on it and its an obvious cash grab.
It isn't per game though. It's just a subscription with a lot of good bonuses and such.
It's weird how when this game first launched on switch. The only new things about it were the 5 new characters (6 if you count gold mario.) and an improved battle mode. Now we have an additional 8 new characters and a whole other games worth of courses to race on.
I FINALLY managed to get this game. Easily my favorite mario kart ever. I can now see why its sold 45 million copies

Why didn't people complain when they heard the rumor that Mario Kart 8 was just going to be ported to the Switch, but they do complain now that they know that it's going to be better with new additions and features.
Hugo - I think it's due to the fact that people held off from being critical of that teaser in the Switch announcement video until it was clarified that the game was another version of one that came out not long ago.

But it's not a new game, it's the SAME game just modified to accommodate what it should have included the first time. The battle mode is NOT new. No matter what anyone says, it's the original and traditional battle mode they offered since the DS installment. They have the same characters, with a few additions and the same tracks.

It was pretty good throughout for the most part, coming from somebody who studies translation and speaks some Japanese. But there was one point where the translator was struggling, with the Grasshopper dude (who was saying some weird stuff pretty quickly tbf) I felt for him. It's freakin' tough! Especially with Japanese where so little translates directly.

Honestly one of the best games ever.
I've been a proud owner of this game for over half a decade. This is one of the most angelic and prolific games I have ever touched in my life. This experience has changed my life for the better and I have made some of the greatest friends I have ever met in my life through this game. From the triumphant music to racing in the streets of Tokyo, this game nails every aspect and gift that humanity has to offer. Thank you, Nintendo.

I think it would be kinda hard to represent a character like the Inkling in Smash Bros., because besides turning into a squid the Inkling doesn't have any special powers beyond what its gun can do.

Mainly because several people missed out on Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U because it(the console) sold horribly. On top of that, Mario Kart 8 was a very solid game that could've used some much needed improvements (Better battle mode, stronger item distribution, and of course the inclusion of some fan favorites who were randomly axed for no real reason) that would make it even better. So it'd make sense, instead of just starting over- to simply improve an already great game AND introduce it to a crowd that never got to play it. From a business stand point it was smart.
Because the lack of backwards compatibility, unfortunately they are doing that because they want to "Switch" from discs to cartridges

As a person who has purchased all the dlc for MK8 I feel like this is a slap in the face. MK8 for the Wii U would have been better off without the DLC if Nintendo was planning on making a Deluxe version for the switch.
Holding off the DLC (16 new courses to race on [4 new cups], new characters, karts, etc.) and combining it with everything in this trailer would have been a much better idea in my opinion and would give people who already have the Wii U version more of an incentive to pick it up. I honestly can't see myself buying this game again.

We don't know if owners of Mario Kart 8 will be able to upscale with a discount. We'll know for sure in a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe direct. Otherwise, I can't see myself getting it either, even though I'm a BIG Mario Kart fan. 8 was nothing compared to Wii anyhow. I can do without it.
then don't buy it bro, play it on wii u, you paid $60 plus the dlc to play it on wii u, that doesn't mean you deserve every version, if they did what you said wii u owners would be like "hey we don't get the other tracks", thats selfish, this is close to three years old, it's not a slap in the face, it's just nintendo trying to placate to everyone which is completely fine
Only problem is they changed the battle mode back to the much better OG battle mode in this version, where the tracks were like big arenas. Hopefully they have a discount for Wii U owners, or an update or DLC for Wii U to add this mode, or else I feel really screwed over. It's just not worth the value of another full purchase for Wii U owners of MK8 because everything else is near identical (except some added characters which mean next to nothing).

2017 was the best year for Nintendo. I mean come on, we got the launch of the Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Zelda Breath Of The Wild, Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, what more do you want from that year
