The thing about Jason David Frank is that he was a massive part of power rangers as a whole. The season that I watched as a kid had him as the black ranger. He was the character every other character would look up to
Even though us younger fans didn’t get to feel the energy he brought during the 90’s, he always came back during anniversary specials and was in the entire season of Dino Thunder (2004). He was always very active in the fandom too. RIP the goat JDF

What’s tough for me in reading about all the celebrity suicides is various comments that both pass judgement as well as a plea of “go and talk to someone (friends, relatives)”. The problem with this is what if the person who is grappling with depression has tried to reach out but received that same judgment from the comments section? How they “should” be, or put their feelings aside. How we speak to those who struggle (or anyone) matters. I recommend Brene Brown and her video on Empathy vs Sympathy if you want to learn more about this topic

Awesome episode! I'm so sad Jason died, he was the coolest Power Ranger ever, and Ed's story about seeing Jason as a kid made me get goosebumps because I can just imagine how cool that would be.

I was a kid when Power Rangers came out and I loved every bit of it. Throughout the years, I was able to meet a couple of them at conventions and they were always nice. I once met Jason in the early mornings of the convention and we just chilled and chatted for a good hour and he signed the toys I brought to get autographed and didn't even charge. He was always cool when I met him afterwards. While I've forgotten the Rangers over the past few years, his death hit me hard.
As someone who also suffers from depression, I don't blame him. I just hope he finds peace wherever he is now. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.
I still mourn the death of my best friend in HS almost 30 years ago. There isn't a week that passes where I don't replay the 24 hours leading up to that incident. What signs did I miss? Was I not being a good friend? He was always cheerful, gregarious, and well-liked by everyone. He had good grades, set to go to college. But it doesn't matter. Depression that leads to suicide doesn't look like the depictions Hollywood presents. Just because someone appears to "Have it all" doesn't mean they actually do.

I definitely related so hard to the clueless Michael Scott dating coach dad Lmfao! I was at my cousins wedding dancing with a woman the whole night, and my dad had to make it ultra awkward all the sudden. He took me aside and was like, you know she's your age, and your other family member over there established a serious relationship at these wedding gatherings you need to do the same right now! I definitely didn't want to make truly celebrating my cousins big day about me by trying to get with one of their close friends. Though I still went through with it anyway. I kept it light and funny, but we were both really drunk and it was certainly an odd time to establish a serious relationship. It is really wild how overly simplistic older generations views on relationships can be, and of course discovering how little game your dad actually has as well is always quite a revelation.

I think that loneliness is the next silent epidemic that will be creeping up. With how society is shaping with technology, culture and big impact from the post pandemic, expect more suicides to happen. 😔

Even though I wasn't around during the airing of Mighty Morphin. When Netflix had every power ranger show on at one point. That was the one I watched the most. It broke my heart that he ended his life. He was my childhood.
I was in bed when I found out that JDF passed away. I went on CZcams on my phone and then the first video that popped up on my recommended was "Breaking News: Jason David Frank Passed Away" and I was shocked. I then googled it to see if it was true and no big source broke it until I found a facebook post from his trainer and then eventually, all the news outlets, PR actors started breaking the news. I'm still thinking about his death till this day because JDF was everywhere when it came to PR. When the show was airing on the Disney Networks, I first saw him in Dino Thunder and they were even rerunning older episodes where I then saw him as the Green Ranger. I then found out through the show's website in 2011 that he was the White Ranger which I never knew existed and then the Red Ranger for two years. I never got the chance to meet him since he was at conventions 24/7 and it's unfortunate that he's gone now. He left a legacy that will live on forever.

I was so heartbroken about Jason. He to me was my first super hero I grew up watching power rangers and I actually learned English thanks to watching the show when I first moved to the US. He was my first childhood crush 😅. It’s heartbreaking that suicide is growing within all ages. My best friend found me and saved me when I was going through an attempt and I’m so thankful for her til this day for saving me

Totally not related, but MANY MANY podcast ago, there was a guest that was working on that vegan instant ramen. He mentioned that he wasn't ready for prime time. Did we ever get an update? I forgot how stoked I was for it.
Yeah it's been a bit out of hand especially around Broadway near 24th St and Sac High
do not believe a word jdf wife say because according to tmz, both jdf and tammy booked 2 separate hotel rooms which is alrdy weird considering the fact that they were supposedly gonna try to rekindle their relationship on this so called "happy getaway". tammy and jdf had their first big argument in tammy room and then later again in jdf room where it ended with jdf locking her out of his room. tammy got worried that he was gonna do something so she was the one who called the cops and they found that he had hung himself in the bathroom. even months leading to this big fight, u can see the depression taking over probably because of the divorce. he would still go to conventions during his depression but the way he looked and acted is very different to how he used to act where he was always cracking jokes and giving happy vibes. jdf wife tammy wanted his house and his car and probably his money during the divorce. she is making stuff up to cover up her azz and to stop ppl from flaming her. during jdf funeral she had the audacity to wear a white dress with a black leather jacket on top of it.
