Exploring data distribution in SPSS

First step in data analysis is exploring the data.
There are several ways of exploring and screening data.
Includes checking basic assumption about data.
Looking at descriptive statistics.
Drawing plots and graphs.
Parametric assumptions:
Normally distributed data.
Normally distributed samples come from normally distributed population.
Homogeneity of variance.
Samples obtained from population with same variance.
Interval data.
Independent data.
Data from different participants are independent.
Histogram
Box plot
Q-Q plot
Skewness
Kurtosis
Statistical tests
Kolmogorov-Smirnov test
Shapiro-Wilk test
Levene’s test
