- Learning statistics doesn’t need to be difficult. This introduction to stats will give you an understanding of how to apply statistical tests to different types of data. You’ll learn about numeric and categorical data and gain an understanding of when to apply a t-test, a chi-square test, ANOVA, and a correlation test. You’ll also learn about hypothesis testing and the p-value. If you’re new to quantitative research or data science, you’ll find this an extremely useful introduction to statistics.

I think the reason why people find statistics (and math in general) daunting is because usually lecturers and textbooks present the big scary formulas in the first step, and that puts up a mental barrier of understanding with the student. You've explained it very well here without introducing any formulas. Of course, eventually we do need the formulas, but it's far more important to get a grasp of what and why we are doing it first, and then the formulas come in.

I have a question. All of these methods test for statistical significance based on a sample or samples selected at random.
but I can’t get past the problem here. All sampling is not random. There is always some form of selection bias. Method of data selection, availability of data being sampled, voluntary participation biases, …. These degrade randomness, meaning samples are not selected at random from any population.
Wouldn’t that effect the validity of theses significance tests??
Execatly. Even they don't don't know real life usages. They have just learned formulae.
Then you struggle to let you brain figure out but still it assumes that was meant for rocket scientists.
This is like being pulled out of the statistics 101 forest straight up by a helicopter, seeing the landscape for the first time, and then looking down and realizing you've been walking in circles the whole time lol! Brilliant explanation!

This is (in my opinion) the role model approach to explain a complex problem, simplify it and ultimately understand it. I am sure there are a lot of more technical details behind it but it is not necessary to communicate them in order to understand the main message of the video. Greg, Mr Martin absolutely concur with the positive comments here: Pulled it all together for me at a higher understanding level of which statistical tests or functions to perform or use based on the potential combinations of the type of data you have. (Categorical or Numerical).The tests then resulting in if you would then reject or accept a null hypothesis. Loved it.

Thank you so much! Teaching the simple principles BEFORE the mathematical proofs gives the big picture, so student's don't get buried in the trees and lose sight of the forest. You give students the bird's eye view. There are other smart people like you, but the difference is that you can pass your understanding of a challenging concept to a student.

In my opinion, you look like a cross between Einstein (a great scientist, and mathematician to a significant extent) and Roald Dahl (one of the most imaginative and renowned modern novelists). H0 things stay the same, there's no difference, H1 (Ha) there is a difference (statistical significant difference)
You don't accept H0, you either reject (in favour of H1) or fail to reject
