  • Idle Speed Problems P0507 caused by a vacuum leak
    If you have a Chrysler or Jeep and have this trouble code and/or too high of an idle speed, then this video is for you.
    For more information on this topic, I have written a “field manual” called Engine Performance Diagnostics which is available at www.scannerdanner.com as an eBook or paper book.
    Want even more diagnostic training? Whether you are a DIY trying to fix your own car, someone looking to become an auto technician, or a current auto technician that wants to get more into diagnostics, subscribe to ScannerDanner Premium www.scannerdan... There is a 14 day free trial.
    On ScannerDanner Premium I will bring you right into my classroom at Rosedale Technical College. You will find page for page lectures taken right from my book as well as exclusive classroom type case studies. What is so special about these classroom case studies? I pull live problem vehicles directly into my classroom and we troubleshoot them in real time, using and applying the theory and testing procedures we learn during the classroom lectures. You know what I like best about your videos? That as you talk yourself through the repair, you don’t try to pretend you know everything(nobody does, right?). You don’t act like every repair is perfect and easy. In this case you found a vacuum leak. Simple. But the correct diagnosis requires a process, whether it is an easy or hard repair. Your videos demonstrate that, as well as the repair.

    Nice work. A lot of shops these days are just swaping parts out based off trouble codes. Even the dealerships are doing this. Then they just charge the customer for all the unnecessary parts they installed to "diagnose" the problem.

      JBTaylor86 I still like the Verus better for videos as I can do screen captures with it (because it is PC based)

    I've never been too comfortable squirting water all over a running engine. Especially today's cramped engine bays where you can even find engine computers bolted right on top of intake manifolds. My preferred method to find vacuum leaks is the smoke machine. No doubts there. If there is a leak, the smoke will expose it.

  • @Rider00769
    @Rider00769 Před 9 lety

    What's happens if you use soapy water instead? Will it causes short circuits or its too messy?

    • @DJDevon3
      @DJDevon3 Před 9 lety

      BIG Z Well you shouldn't spray it directly on electronics if you can help it. Soapy water is great because it will bubble but everyone can find a soda/water bottle just about anywhere you're at but perhaps not soap. ;)

    • @em21701
      @em21701 Před 9 lety

      +BIG Z Soapy water is for positive pressure leaks. This is a vacuum leak, you will never see it bubble on the inside.

    Another good way to test for a vacuum leak is a coleman bottle of propane and rubber hose attached to the "burner"..just turn the bottle on...LOW....and put the rubber hose around all the areas, Idle changes and there is your vacuum leak.
