From Season 3 Episode 10 ''Merry Little Christmas'': Wilson arranges a deal for House with Tritter (David Morse), and is criticized for it not only by House, who swears he'll never take it, but by Cuddy and Cameron as well. Meanwhile, Cuddy cuts an increasingly desperate House off Vicodin and takes him off the team's case: a 15-year-old little person who entered the hospital with a collapsed lung and anemia, and soon...

House did lots wrong legals speaking and far far more in terms of medical ethics. You can like house, but let's not make objectively wrong claims. If you doubt he did break the law, look at the statues on forging prescriptions. That's just one law he broke.

@@Invictus-XVI just to be clear, prescriptions forging for personal use has nothing to do with patient care, is highly illegal (not to mention unethical) and that was the primary thing Tritter was going after house for. And he was objectively correct on that count, house was acting in an illegal and unethical manner, it's very clear in the episodes. What you're talking about is entirely protagonist blindness (ei the protagonist can actually never act in an unethical manner even if the story itself is actually showing they are).

I never said what House did was right.
      "Protagonist blindness" doesn't apply here.
However, I did say that if he hadn't done some of the things he's done, a lot of his patients would very much not be among the living...
Does it make something like forging prescriptions ok? No
The vicodin helps him to function with his leg. No matter what, he's always in pain and always will be. The medication helps to manage the pain, at least for a little while.
I myself work in the medical field.
I also have Sickle Cell Disease, and what's known as AVN (Avascular necrosis)
Everyone constantly tells house to get rid of the vicodin. Or that he's addicted.
Yet none of them know a single thing about what he's going through, despite being doctors themselves.
I understand better than anyone why he did what he did. Doesn't make it ok.

I hated the Detective Tritter story arc. After the second episode with his character I didn't watch first runs until his character was off. I also hated the story arc with the rich guy that tried to bully house around, I think that was season 2? Glad his character wasn't on there for long. He didn't annoy me as much as Tritter, but if he'd been on much longer I'd probably stop watching until his character was gone too.

The arc with "the rich guy" (Vogler? Voigler?) had atleast some value, since it involved the fight between patient care and medicine as a business. But it felt like House was the wrong medical show to include such a "real topic" that in some shape or form is present in all medical dramas on TV.
But hey, atleast after Vogler they finally gave up in trying to find a "rival" for House and just shifted the attention to House being his own worst enemy
