    i love this! i already had a Notion database for my Reading Tracker and my TBR (which took AGES to put together omg) but i took so many elements from your video and that really enhanced my pages 💕

    Lots of great ideas here! I've been using Notion for a while and, even so, you've given me some good tips. Thanks Kira!

    Trying to find a new way to organize my book habit, lol, and am watching this...and thank you. I appreciate you mentioning other places people can buy other than Amazon. I hate that company so much, lol, and use them as a literal last resort. I do use Goodreads unfortunately...but am trying to get used to Storygraph to hopefully make that be my online site, but it is hard.

    Hello, thanks for the info. I'm very new to notion. I want to track all my books. Books and ebooks. Plus Library books I've read etc. Need to track series on different platforms. Ex. Same series but I might have 1 paperback, 3 ebooks and 1 I read from library. I have many books on kindle, kobo and iBooks. Any suggestions?

    • @BookedwithKira
      @BookedwithKira  Před 3 lety +2

      I would maybe suggest tracking everything you read in one database and you could have multiple columns with the information you want about each book (like maybe one column labeled "platform" where you input paperback, audiobook, or library and maybe one labeled "series" where you input the name of the series if it is a part of one)... then you can organize the database with different "views" and you could view all your books by their different platform categories!

    I loved your video! Very informative! I do have one question though, what categories make your genre and sub-genre columns? I want to make both of those columns respectfully but I am struggling to separate them. I was wondering what options you had in your genre and sub-genre categories?☺️

    • @BookedwithKira
      @BookedwithKira  Před 3 lety +1

      This is something I still play around with honestly. I normally have my major genres as fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, nonfiction, romance, historical fiction, contemporary fiction, etc and my sub-genres are more like high-fantasy, urban-fantasy, romance-fantasy, murder-mystery, thriller-mystery, science, health, social justice etc

    Hi Kira! Good video, very helpful. Have you ever exported the data from Goodreads for use in Notion? I have so many books listed in Goodreads over the years, but would like to move all that data to Notion without having to retype everything.

    • @BookedwithKira
      @BookedwithKira  Před 2 lety +1

      I have! You have to export your goodreads library as a csv file, then click the 'import' option on the left navigation bar in notion and import this csv. This will create a table as it's own page in your notion. Move this page to wherever you want to track your reading. Then convert the page from a page to an 'inline database.' Then you can add/remove/adjust any columns. From there you can create relationships to goals and other tracking methods etc :) Hope this helps!

    How to put book covers, as that would make it more visual?

    • @BookedwithKira
      @BookedwithKira  Před 2 lety

      I would probably put images of the book covers in the 'background' of each book page. Each entry in the table creates a 'page' that you can add a background to. This is where you would add the image of the cover. Then I would create another view of the database that is a 'gallery' view and under 'properties' I would choose to display 'page background.' This will create a gallery view of all the book covers. Hope this helps!

    i love this video! i doubt that you will see this - but i have a question: how do you make it so your board is ordered by month? mine orders by everything else other than months? i have tried everything that i can think of and i am really stuck. Thankyou

    • @kavisha1339
      @kavisha1339 Před 3 lety

      If you have more than one 'select' properties in your database, in the board view you will have an option to 'group by'. You can select group by: month. Hope this helps!

    • @BookedwithKira
      @BookedwithKira  Před 2 lety

      Hi Jessica! I have a column now where I track my finish date (when I finish reading) and you can order by that! Use the 'date' property type and notion has a built in ordering method for the date format :) Hope this helps!
