I think the KEF R11 Meta came out this year, but not sure. Also, the MartinLogan Motion XT F100 are a good bargain.
Bryston A 1 loudspeaker
Kef Blade 2.
And Kef R3 meta is a bargain for the price!
My fav this year was the Totem Element Metal V2. A remarkably transparent, disappearing, pure musical speaker. Easy to drive, easy to pair, and easy to place in the room.
Mine! Continue to love and am thrilled with my Tannoy Revolution XT-8F. Now have them for two years. Loved them then and love 'em more now. I upgraded my Rogue Phoenix V3 rolling original tubes to RCA clear-tops and upgraded from an Ortofon Red to Blue. Both changes were welcomed by my speakers and my ears!
Really interested in trying this tannoy but in bookself
Hey Jay!
Thanks for all your hard work. Well done as always.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!🌲🎉.
LOVE my 1723 THX 5.1 ❤
Hi Jay, I am looking for the best preamp to match my AGD AUDION MKIII, If you can be of any help, Thank you
What would you choose: PlatiMon or Dynaudio Heritage? And reason (pros and cons)? Thanks!!
Love that PlatiMon made it to the list!! ❤ Go Mon!
Would be better I think if one of those port options were front mounted. My Monitor Audio RX8 speakers have a front and a rear port so you can choose the best for your listening preference. For me the front port was less boomy even though I have bass traps behind the speakers, so I plugged the rear and get a much better bass output now without any muddy bass.

100% ..... and beyond. 🙏🙏 ...You know exactly what I think of this choice. ❤
I'm very attracted to and curious about Platimon, which won the top award... I enjoyed reading the good reviews.
Great review, what is your current reference set? Streamer, dac, amp, pre amp and speakers?
The most beautiful sounding instruments are made of wood, and that includes speakers 👌🔊
Just as the most natural-sounding cone material is paper or wood pulp.
@@BruceCross…agreed 👍
Great review. I love your descriptions. Just wondering about the warmth of the Arendal's and how they compare to the Elac's.
What are the huge silver/black monoblocks we see often in the video?
beautiful music
beautiful speaker!!
Hi Jay. So the PlatiMon beats the Tribe Towers overall?
The open baffle Franken Speakers I am currently designing. I need my active Paradigm 5.1 rig for work, but have only been listening to this concoction for pleasure all week. Never realized how good open baffle can be. They are fully active and dsp controlled.
Try building a speaker with a 5" single driver in an oversize box. A floor stander. Instead of mounting the driver normally, mount it 1"-1.5" above the hole with super long screws and spacers made from soft thin sprinkler hose. But before you do that, port the hole with a 4" deep bass vent tube (same diameter) for acoustic reasons. Best speaker in the world if you make a crossover-filter thingy for the driver. Witch will be very different to an (in the box) crossover. Also slit the inner 3mm of the stripped down FR driver (whizzer and dust cap removed). Replace with cloth (or prefably phase plugs) and now slit the cone 3mm out from the voice coil with a razer blade. The slits are about 8mm long slits around the cone 3 mm out from the voice coil. But leave nearly half not cut so the cone doesn't fall apart, by having gaps that are not cut, around the cone. This makes a VAST improvement in the treble especially with the semi open mounting. Best treble your will hear from a FR driver, ever! 😅
I was going to say "First", but am obviously beat. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Now I have to watch the video, ha.
I would say, if you want to take your channel to the next level then try and add a small sound sample to the videos, even if it's from an iPhone. I know for myself, I can get quite a bit out a decently recorded sample on CZcams.
Thanks Jay
enjoying my 1723 towers right now! bang for buck towers!
Hey Jay, how do the 1723s compare to the Paradigm Founder Series that you reviewed?
The Paradigm sound a bit more dynamic to me but for the price difference the Arendals are a no brainer. I have the 1723,s with a Michi X5 , Rythmik F18 sub and I am very satisfied. .The Arendals are 4 ohm so I am getting 600 watts per channel.
MAGICO uses aluminum cabinets and they sound magnificent.
Hey Jay, when will you be able to review the Bryan Miller ST 70 modded tubed amp?
Soon!
Not name dropping, just saying.. I've got Tannoy, Dynaudio, PMC, Rogers, Monitor Audio and Wharfedales. The speakers I'm digging at the moment are B&W DM14's from the eighties. Sealed boxes, just loving the detail. An impulse auction buy that's been a great success
Love your reviews....do you do home theater at all?
Yes I do have a hometheatre room
Kerr Acoustic K300s are the best speakers I have heard
Thanks for your year end video. I agree with your Arendal award. The 1723 towers were my speaker of the year and the choice for my listening room in black satin. I don’t like the fingerprint issue and reflections with the gloss but the finish is beautiful if you like gloss. I Chose over the Polk R700, B&W 702 Ss and newer bookshelves and other bookshelves including the KEF R3 Metas. But the KEFs in blue with the matching blue stands do look amazing. Preferred the Arendals even when trying the KEFs with 2 subs. Best soundstage, dynamics and the ability to sound good at lower and higher volumes. I like it loud and they can absolutely crank without strain. 60 day buy and try with free returns in the US and excellent customer service with a 10 year warranty. Highly recommended!
Thank you Jay for your excellent channel and reviews. When you have a free minute, for those of us that do not have a lot of money, can you tell us what is your favorite speakers between 1K and 2K? Thank you so much.
It may be the CSS Criton 1TD-X. $2300 finished, $1330 in kit form. It will probably be the next speaker I build. He thought they sounded as good or better than the $10,000 Sonus Faber.
The enclosure technology is super important (on YT): Demonstrating Wilson's V Material against Competition
I'm terribly biased... I went all in on Arendal 1723 monitors for the 3 pcs front speakers 😂 and the almost more manageble 1723 Monitor S for rear speakers (+2 subs to fill out the bottom end). I think the 1723 lineup are very competent "jack-of-all-trades" with no particular weaknesses (except for monitors lacking in bottom end). I can't vouch for how it does classical music tho, I have way too little and inferior material to judge upon.
Earlier today I was putting on some background music, but I was struck by how well they perform at low volume, how easy and effortless they play, so much so I got stuck listening instead of focusing on answering the messages like I had planned. My previous speaker setup from Miller & Kreisel required a bit more oomph to get going.
1723's are no slouch either, they can belt out at intolerably loud levels aswell for those who can stand it.
If you don’t mind me asking, what M & K speakers did you have? About 20 years ago I heard some S150s (not sure if they were powered) which BLEW ME AWAY. This was for roughly 90% HT, but paired with monsters amp and a JBL cinema sub, I was hooked. I’m now hearing wonderful things about Arendal and wondering how they compare. Thoughts?
The link to these speakers is partly broken as well as Item is not in Stock.

Waiting for a B&W 603 S3 review 😉 I think people might like them better than the Polks R700, at least I know I did
I'm considering purchasing the B&W 603 S3. The Klipsch RP8000F II are also in my consideration although I think the B&W 603 will probably handle orchestral music better. I like 8 OHM speakers and that parameter cuts out a lot of floor standers. in the $500 to $2000 per pair range. I can affford to spend more but I am a cheap bastard. Any other suggestions?
How useful that your awards do actually go to gear you reviewed on your channel.
And I thought you loved SF Maxima Amator best.
Hi, I have bought the Arendals 1723 and they are amazingly good. To call them budget speakers is not so accurate because they are not cheap but yes they pay off! I also have a more budget friendly Polk R 700 that are outstanding, but if you have the extra money the Arendals are more refined,
I am thinking about the AGD Audion amp, but this one is pretty expensive. I have a NAD M33 that also is a class D, but it sounds great! Do you think that the upgrade would pay off? I could use the NAD M33 as a pre-amp.
Thanks
Jay, what about your joint venture CSS speakers?
I do not review, compare or award products I have affiliation with
Congrats to the winners! The Arendals younger siblings 1961 Towers are still enjoyable for me. BTW, are you still going to review the Borresens Jay?
Yes sir
This year, it's the Musican Knight 1. I think it's my final speaker.
that little thing was so easy to overlook not alot of press. I think U right.
I just clicked the link in the description for this speaker. The website says the page doesn't exist. Thought you should know.
I think the link Jay put in is not correct. You should click the top menu
Have you listened to the new Boulder monitor from Unity Audio? Coldplay mixed their album with the previous model the new is even better..
Why no review on that Vincent amp?

Dude… how do you figure that the Arendals are a budget speaker at $4600 US/pair?!
Though I guess you did actually say “best value”, but would still love to hear a review of actual budget-ish speakers.
Maybe you have done that already and I just haven’t seen it yet
. LQQK back at all the reviews in 2023. Until recently, there wasn't one speaker review with a woofer over 8" inches. Remember, 5:24 even with four, the Arendals aren't even (close) to full range. His room is just TOO small for full range or he prefers to throw sub-sonic woofers at every pair of 2-ways.
I don't know what you want but a $599 pair Cerwin-Vega 15" 3-ways (if they're anything like they used to be) will definitely get the job done. Clean wattage & EQ will be beneficial.

Very cool review. I like how you mentioned the Sabrina X and how the 1750’s give a good bang for buck value.
We have similar journeys. I flew across the country USA to attend my first high end home audio show back in 2016. I missed my flight so I was a day late and literally ran from room to experience as many different speakers as I could.
Wilson Audio happened to have two different rooms , I ran into the main room first and that’s where all the big speakers and representatives were hanging out. I wasn’t terribly impressed, but I didn’t make it to the sweet spot.
I then went into the second room and I found myself alone with a single pair of the original Sabrina loudspeakers.
I found myself for the very first time stopping my rush to get to another room and hung out in utter shock and amazement as to how special and unique the sound was. I didn’t want to move as the cohesive sound of those little speakers took me aback.
Then I remembered your story about Vilip sitting you down in front of a pair of Sabrina speakers as one of your first non headphone listening experiences.
Curious to learn if the newer model still holds that magic 😊?
I actually preferred the original Sabrina in the comparison I did with Audio Excellence when I was still with them
Jay, I really wanted to like the arendals.. I agree on the build quality, great price and value, - but they are really not very efficient, requires very powerful amps, and i found them to sound pretty colored, almost nasal in the midrange. On top of that, I found them to have a pretty bad off-axis response and unimpressive imaging. Did you not pick up on that midrange? Fatiguing almost to me. See if you can hear a pair of DALI Epikore 11. I would love to hear your opinion on those in contrast. We got totally blown away at Stjernholm Reviews with those...

Jay was busy man this year
Buchardt S400 ii not making the short list? 🤔
Probably last year, but the A10 are surely 2023.
I would love to hear those PlatiMon speakers for myself (though I honestly don't know where I'd put them without totally re-doing a whole room to accommodate them). Personally, I find them rather ugly -- but it's likely the video doesn't do the slate-grey finish justice. (I just hate the looks of yellow ribbon tweeters in any design!)

Nice picks Jayiyagi

If you can hear the cabinet it should win zero awards
Doesn't hear the cabinet. Hence the award! You dig😅

@jayiyagi - Jay, I been following you and Steve for years now. Heres my first ask. Can you please review The Philharmonic BMR HT Tower? I really dont see a human legible review of that yet. Hope my message reach you.

Three thousand dollar budget speaker???
Maybe best "bang for the buck" would be a better title.
Mmmm I said best value
Mon Acoustic Audio youtube channel has very poor video quality, and I asked why taking video with phone. I think he got offended by my questions.
So send him a great pair of microphones. So he can record them as you are requesting. 😂
It's a ugly speaker and over priced
Agreed. Thank God for the "Cheap audio man". I look for best value for the dollar and observe the law of diminishing returns. Also, I want a speaker that they made at least thousands of so that I can get parts down the road if necessary. OK, I'm cheap but that's why I have enough money.
