@@SleenDijon You have some serious trust in court systems... i mean, the same people who question sex, have terrible bias, and very politically motivated will somehow be aware of, and implement counter acting processes to mitigate that risk, or will they force you the defendant to prove it as part of your defense? Just saying... if you believe that, you're truly naïve.

@@stopthecap2644 I don't trust court systems to do the right thing. That's a completely separate subject and opinion from the little sentence I wrote. My point is simply that if enough people are wrongly affected by something this technologically impacting, the courts will be made aware. People will be screaming about it. Will the courts do the right thing? I can only hope they will.

Machine Learning Engineer here(3D Computer vision). Sora is able to do this because rather than training totally on videos, they included a mix of 3d space from Unreal Engine5, which is why it's also physically accurate.. UE5 has had generative AI functionality for the past year now, Sora took it a step further by using this to create videos that were learned in 3D space. :). Another reason is that they have more hardware to be able to do this as game engines are pretty hardware-intensive. That's why Sam A. is trying to raise $7 Trillion for AI Chips.

I hard disagree on the destruction of the entertainment industry. If anything, this might spark a renaissance of new innovative and creative stories. Things that humans couldn’t normally create on their own. At the rate that AI is going, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a full length feature film by the end of the 2020’s. There’s rarely a film that any of can say is a blockbuster of our time. With streaming services offering every single fiber of content it’s saturating things and films just don’t feel special or even as creative anymore. I think AI evolving will also evolve the way we create stories. Of course our knee jerk reaction is to push back against unfamiliar things but I truly believe this is our generations equivalence to the industrial revolution. AI is going to be a game changer for humanity within the next 10-20 years. We’re barely scratching the surface of it

There's only one positive I can think of. Novelists will make a comeback. Many people don't read books because it's an outdated medium. However, if you could insert a book into a AI like Sora, then it could make a series/movie of the entire book. It would be accurate to the source material 100%. All books will be able to be converted. No longer would you need a budget to bring stories to life. That's cool. Also, the creation VR worlds in something like VRCHAT would be cool. It essentially gives creative ability to those who have great ideas, but don't have the skill or budget to act on those ideas. In VR this could be unhealthy too. Imagine creating a lifelike version of people combining future versions of gpt and sora. That's a deep slope. I could bring a version of my mother back to life and interact with her. At some point, people won't want to leave their headsets. And if neuralink advances perhaps even the matrix could exist. You could use something like apple vision pro to project fake people or living circumstances. The possibilties are endeless. Humans are by nature flawed. I don't think think this will be used for good. Human history can attest. There are far more negatives than positives.

I was going to school for audio engineering in 2006 in Hollywood (SAE). Programs like Logic Pro change the landscape of music for film, so studios could now pay one producer to compose an entire orchestra, instead of having to pay each individual musician a Union rate with work breaks ETC. Then CZcams made it so you can upload your song (made yourself on Logic) onto YT and record companies could watch it, Like it and Sign you. instead of having to form the band, make a demo, book a show, invite people from the record labels, and hopefully have a good show, that got you signed. things Will adapt and evolve as they always do. someone like myself who was unwilling to try to change in 2006 will be left behind. life happens.

I feel you. I was a professional photographer back in the days of film, specializing in black and white silver emulsion printing. I'll say this humbly - I was one of the best printers in North America. Those were the days of photography being like a private club of geeks with their own develop and print formulas and gear not understood by many. Then photography went digital and now everyone was a photographer, and for years I couldn't touch it because it lacked in depth that the film and silver emulsion printing has. I switched to web design, seo, graphic design, and years later picked up a digital camera. I left all that again in 2016, but I kept my old gear. Just give anything 20 yrs and it's vintage and 'new' and cool again. The old becomes a niche coveted by the hipsters of the new generation. This cycle repeats as it has at least twice in my lifetime. 🙂

It's a slippery slope though. AI will end up replacing many jobs, not just videographers, graphic designers or fast food cashiers. This is just the tip of the iceberg. And physical laborers such as barbers, plumbers, mechanics and construction workers may not be the first to be replaced as robotics technology isn't at that level yet, what happens when 50-60% of their customers are laid off, replaced by AI, and now don't have the money to hire them? The economy is interconnected and so even if they're not replaced (yet), tradespeople will all feel the effect, just maybe not as directly and not as soon.

But well, it just is another point that shows our economic system is badly designed. It was already bad before AI and will be even worse after AI. The system is not a natural law and can and should be adapted. (Should have happened already long time ago, but now with AI there will finally be no other choice)

The thing I don’t see a lot of people talking about (but it’s very important to examine) is the CROSSOVER between lots of emerging tech: AI, VR, digital metaverses, and Neuralink.
Imagine for a moment: someone’s wife passes away, using Neuralink, the husband is able to interface directly with a computer via thinking. This computer, using AI, can generate an imagined version of the wife using the husband’s memories. This version can be seen directly in front of him while wearing a sophisticated VR headset. And while in a digital metaverse, the husband and wife pair are indistinguishable as real/AI from other people in that digital space. Both move and act and talk as if they are alive.
This “digital necromancy” scenario I just mentioned isn’t 1000 years away. The tech for it either already exists, or is just on the cusp of existing, and all it would take is applying these technologies together to create it.

Companies would much much rather hire robots than expensive and temperamental humans who need sick leave, vacation days, benefits, 401k matching etc. Also, this is all estimated to happen by the end of this year. So expect mass layoffs under wildly inept and incompetent government who have to implement some sort of financial support for the large swaths of the populations who are unemployed. To be honest, if you have a helicopter license, you will have many options for a job, even with drones.

Where open AI is blowing it is, that they still haven't created a "save feature for remembering characters" if you want to make a movie you should be able to save the actors you create and be able to use them again and again. It seems like it would be a simple feature to make and yet they haven't done it yet. It would be a game changer. Whoever creates this feature I's gonna take the cake.

Wdm? OpenAI actually recently launched a memory feature (as a test)

You forgot that many services use openai behind the scenes, there are many ai generators that allow you to save.

I used to work in animation, and I can assure you that none of the current studios know how to make a show any more. The principals are not tech people- they are artists. The systems and workflows they have built over decades are now so much junk. How do you pitch a new show when you don't even know what job descriptions you will need? Who to hire?
    I'm seeing total paralysis.

Don’t you still need the inputs to get the output? Someone needs to go out and get the images first before they can be manipulated?

It depends on where it's pulling the information from. LLM's still need references and massive data libraries. I think for surface level or small projects it's great but I want to see the tools and code base before I get too excited. For an open project their are still pretty closed
