    This is the BEST tutorial I have ever seen! NOTHING else even comes close. So many instructors go too fast, or they click buttons without telling you what they're doing (because they're so familiar with what they're doing, but they forget that we're not). This was clear and designed so you could easily follow along. Thank you, Nicole. Superb!

    The thing about photoshop is there's so many ways to get what you want done. I knew about clipping mask but I've never associated that function with this task. Thank you for sharing.

    so well explained! I love the fact you zoom in to show each icon and steps, lots of other video just said do this and do that without show it clearly, always have to stop and rewind back to see exactly what they are doing, but your video zoomed in with enlarged icon, so easy to follow! big thank you!

    Thank you... The best part of it was not the excellent tip and technique but the fact that you did not mention who invented Photoshop and the reason rounded corners exist in nature :D
    Most videos and bogs these days spend 90% of the video or 10000 pages of text on some fluff.
    Yours was a master class in simplicity and effectiveness!

    Hello thank you for your video It really is very informative. Unfortunately I'm following the steps when I go to clip the layers together it does show the rounded along with the edges of the rectangle but it doesn't show that checker box background in the corners don't understand what I'm doing wrong but when I go to save it and then open the file again it doesn't open up with rounded edges like the finished product

    • @nicolesy
      @nicolesy  Před 11 měsíci

      It sounds like you might have a background (or other) layer at the bottom, which is fine but you won't see the trasparency behind it (checkerboard) unless you delete it. Look to see if you have a layer at the bottom (below the rectangle) and delete it (highight the layer and press the Delete or Backspace button). Then, when you save the file as a png, it will be transparent.

    I'm doing a project that requires my finished product to be printed out since it's gonna be made into a book, and i was wondering if saving it as a PNG instead of PDF (since that was te recommend format) would mess up the printing process? I'm trying to just format my pages and send it to my editor for printing.. is this possible if i save it as a PNG?

    • @nicolesy
      @nicolesy  Před rokem

      Book formats usually are in PDF when you upload them to print, but it depends on what you are using to print it. FWIW I use PNG files in my printed books often and they turn out just fine. I would consult with the printer to make sure since they are all a little bit different.

  • @manuelyepez
    @manuelyepez Před měsícem

    In the 2024 version of Photoshop, to create a clipping mask, you should right-click on the image and select "Create Clipping Mask" (or the shortcut Option+Command+G on Mac) from the drop-down menu. Holding down the 'Option' or 'Alt' key will not work for this action.

    • @nicolesy
      @nicolesy  Před měsícem +1

      Your methods will work. However, holding the Opt (Mac) or Alt (Win) key also still works in Ps 2024 when you hover the cursor in-between the layers you want to clip.

    • @manuelyepez
      @manuelyepez Před měsícem

      @@nicolesy You are right! I just realized my mistake. I wasn't doing it correctly. It works when I drag and drop "in-between" the layers. Previously, I mistakenly dragged the image layer directly onto the rectangle layer, which caused a duplicate 🙃.

  • @leesa770
    @leesa770 Před rokem

    When I export following your instructions, the png file is not exporting with the transparency, but rather has a dark grey background, which of course is not functioning as a transparent background.

    • @nicolesy
      @nicolesy  Před rokem +1

      If you open the PNG in Photoshop, does it show the transparency? If not, and you are trying to upload it to a website, it could be that the site does not accept transparent PNG files.

      It occured to me that you might not have it set to "Shape" in the options bar. Look for the drop-down at the top-left (to the left of the "FIll" box) and set it to "Shape". If it's set to something else you probably won't get the dots or handles that you see in the video.
