NOTE: When using the Wave filter at 01:55, after putting in that last value of 50, click onto any different field in the effect before hitting Ok. (Strangely, Photoshop doesn’t register the last value you put in if your cursor is still active in that field). Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback! It's been exciting to see this video bring some new viewers to the channel!
Now, we are getting somewhere. Works for me, thanks ;?)
Thank you for your time and great video. Can you please make it action to download file?
why am i not able to use the oil paint filter?
@@rhythmicunion3792 The oil paint filter doesn't work in greyscale mode, you need to change to RGB! (and back again afterwards if you are concerned about file size.)
@@joegillespie6810 thanks!
Its really refreshing to watch a tutorial that doesn't labour SLOOOOOOWLY through steps. You've struck a really good pace here.
Ha nice, fist time I tried to record one of these things it was painfully slow. So thats good to hear
@@Texturelabs I second this guy's opinion. I'll subscribe and watch your shit if you keep the pace the same in all your videos. It's refreshing.
I definitely agree.
I definitly do not agree... I'm not native englsih and it is a pain in the, well, you know, "where the sun never shines" to understand all that...
Whatever, nice video though.
I couldn't agree more...! Normally, I watch tutorials at 1.5x or 1.75 to not kill myself. This was the perfect pace, and straight to the point. THANK YOU.
Excellent content! Love the speed - definitely not beginner paced, which is refreshing. I checked the CC and it works really well, and combined with your written paths, should be fine for those who need to read instructions. Looking forward to applying your textures in my work!
I've done this more difficult ways. Nice clear instructions. Thanks!
Glad this popped up in my feed! Nice, clear delivery. Easy to follow steps that are broken down perfectly. I've always loved this effect (especially in Newspaper columns) and you did a great job of recreating it!
I love how you go straight to the point.
Fantastic tutorials! I've only done two, but will definitely be doing the rest. I'm relearning Photoshop after not really using it for 10 years, and I love how you actually teach people HOW to use Photoshop instead of just trying to sell them premade effects/plug-ins/kits etc. This is so useful and gives you ideas on how to use the tools for your own creations. Thank you so much for the great work!
This is a beautifully constructed tutorial with no filler. Great job!
I don’t know when I’ve learned as many useful techniques in one video… and your presentation is superb !
I’m looking forward to seeing your other tutorials. Thanks very much !
I cannot even begin to describe how much I appreciate your tutorials. Straight forward, to the point, easy to follow, and everything is free?! This must have taken you so long to plan and figure out! Props man!
That's really cool to hear... Ya it actually has taken quite a pretty crazy amount of time to get the whole project up and running, so I really appreciate the acknowledgement! Glad to know it's been helpful!
@@Texturelabs There's a lot of photoshop/illustrator tutorials out there, yours are one of the best ive seen. Instant subscribe:)
The 👏 best 👏 technique 👏 for the engraved money effect, hands down! And believe me, I've been looking for a simple and clean way to create it for several years now. Thank you!
Brilliant. How refreshing to see a straightforward,, no-fuss, tutorial. Great technique. Sure to find a use for this.
Besides the good content, this is probably the best pace PS tutorial I've seen so far - and I have watched a lot of them.
This one shows and explains all the necessary details but without making the video slow and boring.
Writing all the steps to the screen is a big plus, too. I'm sure that it would help a lot if I tried to replicate what you did.
Subscribed immediately. Great work, keep it up!
IMMEDIATELY SAVED IN MY FAVORITES! Incredible!
Thanks a LOT for this detailed step-by-step tutorial, in which you cover the HOWs and the WHYs with perfect rhythm.
This is _so_ clever, I'm sure you take this art to a scientific degree to figure it out so elegantly. And you explained it so well, too! This is the kind of video where I check out the rest of the channel.
I've been looking a good method to achieve this effect for a while. NONE of them was satisfactory. BUT, this, brother, this is ART. Thank you for sharing!
😲 Wow, never thought about that! Great tutorial
This is one of the very best tutorial videos I've ever seen. Knowledgeable, to the point, well presented in all ways.
I've seen other tutorials of this effect, but this such an elegant way to achieve it
Cool, thanks for the kind words Otto
This man deserves hundreds of thousands of subs for tutorials like this.
I cannot express how greatful I am when you put into your instructions where the operation is to be found. Brilliant! 🤩

Not gonna lie, it kinda scares me how good it is
I’ve been looking for a good way to do this for years. Your speedy, no-cruft presentation style is much appreciated, I felt more excited than I have done in years in Ps! Thank you very much, subscribed.
Awesome!
Im shocked about how ABSOURDLY AMAZING your tutorials are. Thanks you for all this knowledge!
your tutorials are blowing my mind, in every video you're using a technique i'd never even thought of before, thanks for teaching me a lot about photoshop
That is absolutely brilliant!! I have been wanting to experiment with this exact effect for ages now, and will be giving your tutorial a try.
I love your easy to follow style of teaching, you have earned my sub, sir :)
Thank you very much for uploading these videos...I am off to your channel now to see what else I can learn :D
I am speechless.. As I was subscribing, I thought this was a channel with at least (!!!) 500k followers! The quality of your videos are INSANE
Right on, thank you.... funny, it's been surreal to see it grow to even 4000 subs - when it was 200 people, I could at least picture that in the real world. It'll be fun to see where it goes. Glad you found the channel!
I've been working around this problem for decades. THANK YOU!
This is great. Thank you for this awesome lesson.
Simply, out of this world tutorial!
Etching always fascinated me. When I was a kid and in our region, offset printing was not so popular, artworks for newspapers were mostly prepared in line-art. Halftones were printed through Zink Plates Blocks. There was another technique popular during those days was, 'Burnt' technique, which was only based on dark tone, just Solid Black! Pictures of (usually) men were processed in the darkroom and all mid-tones were eliminated through the processing of negatives. Product images were also converted to line-art. This tutorial took me to the past! Thanx!
That's really cool to hear! It's an incredible process - while I was researching this look, I really enjoyed looking carefully at the details in the etchings. The amount of time and labor that would go into those images.... a thing of beauty. Cheers!
I'm really impressed! This a lot of research, hours, and practice to realize this particular effect! Plus, this video is clear and well made. Congratulations! I subscribed to your channel.
Really appreciate that... I did push around different variations for a ridiculous amount of time!
I've never seen a very detailed and basic tutorial for texture like this one before. Thanks!!
Looks super cool! And the instructions are verry easy to fallow, so cool that you go from something simple and you build upon it up.
Finally I know how to make money at home thanks buddy
No prob, just send your file to any desktop printer and you should be good to go
When working at the Oxford, UK branch of Staples office supply chain, and being the manager on duty one afternoon, I remember us being visited by a couple of police officers who requested a copy of the receipt of a certain laser printer we'd sold several months earlier, in order to track down the buyer and question them about its whereabouts, as some counterfeit money they'd found out, had that printer's own secret code in it! I guess someone was going to be in deep, deep trouble back then!
@@includemeout Most scanners and photocopiers have a function that stops them copying bank notes.
@@includemeout look at the yellow dots ... that's the code nearly every printer has it.....
I like what you're doing. One day your channel will become the encyclopedia for textures. I subscribe because I want to be here when that day comes.
Phenomenally good! The depth of your Photoshop knowledge is remarkable.
This looks absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge for everyone to see
Got recommended and instantly subbed. Very happy with the fact that you're moving along fast and not treat your viewers as imbeciles
Haha that's great
I'm gonna co sign this and remark that yes, this was most useful.
Same! Instant sub!

I love your tutorials! Learning a lot lately
You are the best, dont ever stop making these wonderful videos 🙏🏻

Most Beautiful technique I seen in PS. Can't wait to try this one. Thank you for sharing thia one!! BRAVO 👏
you teach me more in 2 hours than university in 4 years. thanks!!
First time here, this was randomly recommended to me by youtube and wasn't disappointed! Your channel seems like a gemstone for retouchers, I'm already suscribed!
Nice, thank you!!
Man, I've seen so many weak versions of concept, I didn't expect one to finally look good. this actually nails the look. nice. will be checking out the other videos.
Best Photoshop tutorial on youtube for free.
This just might be the best tutorial i have come across in a while, Thank you
2:57 that’s it that’s the magic texture GRAY SCREEN!
Great demo! Thank you very much.
This is fantastic. Other engraving methods I've tried in the past are slow or convoluted, this just takes the prize.
This guy is giving you a career if you just apply yourself!
...if you just apply the filters. (FTFY! Haha.)

That's an awesome compliment, trying to crank out some good stuff coming up!
Holy Sh*t, The algorhythm just showed me the Photoshop Channel i always wanted to find. This is the good stuff
Thank you very much for this effect tutorial
Fantastic tutorial. Really dumfounded by the sorcery used to create the texture, and appreciate the list of directions on the side as you went through it.
Very clean. Instead of using wave displacement on the pattern, you can use the original photo as a displacement map on the pattern. This way the line direction fits the content more.
Hey can you elaborate on how to to do the displacement map?
Wow, I haven't been impressed with a Photoshop tutorial in a very long time.
Absolutely magical
Amazing!!! Thanks for your tutorial!!!
Amazing tutorial. I always tried different plug-ins and actions to try to achieve this. This is by far the most convincing and straightforward way to do it. I also love that you can adjust the engraving effect. I wonder if this could work using a vector pattern, instead of using a bitmap pattern. Anyway, thanks for this. New subscriber here.
Very cool... Oh ya, I bet bringing in a vector (maybe smart object from AI) would give you a ton of room to experiment

Loved this and so easy to follow. I learned so much and appreciate you!
Awesome thanks! Easy to follow and concise teaching style at just the right pace.
A good tip is to save all textures you make in one folder. Same with any cutouts, pngs and so on. Then you only need to do this once to create the desired effect 😁
this channel is gonna get big.
i'm kinda surprised the biggest photoshop channels only get about 2 mill
Cool thanks Dave, been fun to watch the channel grow so far... we'll see where it goes!
This is just brilliant! I was looking for a trick like that forever!
Very impressive and relatively simple. How anyone ever thinks up these things is beyond me. Great work!
Time to print some money!

Excellent! I've been wanting a similar effect for years. Now I have it. Brilliant.
Hey guys, I didn't find some effects on my CC2017, e.g. distort>wave>sine wave. Even there are only two setups for each of the other distortions. Anyway, it looks funny, but far away from the effects in this video. What version did You use?
