- Today I had a nice surprise call from Tom from Concrete with the Hauses, Tom was taking down some trees at his place and brought me all the wood that will be used for Firewood and Lumber. I also fired up the Wolfe Ridge Splitter and made some firewood out of it already

We live in Western Pa. and Have around 100 Acres of Land, About 1/2 is ours the rest is my moms, We have 4 kids and two grandchildren, 3 Golden Retrievers and one Cat. We enjoy working on our property and making improvements. We sell firewood and soon will be selling hardwood lumber.
Again Mike, I really appreciate how you use your channel to plug other crafts that you support. This is true advertising and “Outdoors with the Morgan’s” is all about spreading the “Love”!

Mike - Great to see the friendship between you and Tom developing. He thought of you when he had wood he needed to get out of the way, and you're thinking you might be able to get him some wood from the Woodmizer to use in projects at his place. That was quite the load of wood. Nice that Tom and Matt thought of you and brought it over for you; or rather was it so he had an excuse to use that nice fancy dump trailer HAHA!!! I want a dump trailer, can't afford one right now, but I think maybe a 7x12 tandem axle dump would be more than plenty for my needs....but even at that it would be pretty useless what do you do with the tractor in the mean time...you fill the trailer with fill dirt, gravel, sand, etc. Now you have no place to put the tractor you gotta leave it wherever you were loading at...I need a good size load of fill dirt, but have no way to haul it easily without having to load it by hand and unload it by hand LOL. Takes all the fun out of fixing landscaping issues LOL. I did 4 tons of gravel and 2 tons of sand last year with my utility trailer it sucks having to shovel all that stuff out by hand, takes up way too much time that could have been better used somewhere else. Pointless having a tractor with a loader when you still have to load and unload stuff by hand HAHA!! I did use the tractor/loader for a little bit of it but about 95% of those loads of gravel and sand were shoveled into a wheelbarrow by hand because I couldn't get into the area with a tractor....well might have but don't think driving over plastic corrugated pipe would be a wise idea even with a small tractor. Got it all filled in and taken care of just takes while. Sure nice to have the tractor even just to move stuff around....my BX2680 is my very expensive wheelbarrow at least that's what I tell the family.
That whistling tune at the intro was a great choice! Enjoyed seeing the well developed relationship you have with Tom Haus. That is always a cool thing about having a good friendship that comes from having a caring attitude and wanting to help someone out by passing on the good word about a fellow business man, who cares to only do right by his customers. I loved seeing all of that, Mike. Way to go!!!!!

Hi Mike just wanted to let u kno that I am retired from national grid in the utica ny area after 37 years. Utica is about 45 miles south of Boonville which I hear u mention in some of your videos. We have a camp on the outskirts of boonville surrounded by nothing but woods. Love watching your videos especially the ones involving cutting firewood and u operating the equipment. Tom is such a good guy. Love his channel. Glad you introduced me to it. Levi is really working hard keeping the wood pile down enough to for you to split more wood.
I remodeled my kitchen about a year ago and I did pour in place countertops. It was the best decision I made regarding the kitchen. Z countertop forms. A lot of edge choices, I suggest the "chipped" edge, wish I would have done that one. Make sure you use "Sand Mix' Sakrete bedding mix. Not my first choice, but the only place I could find it was Lowes. Make sure you use only Sakrete sand mix and make it the consistency of pancake batter, so it flows. It will seem too wet, but You won't be sorry.
Tom is such a great guy, its always nice to cross paths with a quality guy like him!
I love those tarps. Use them when I haul garbage to the dump. Doesn't flap all over the place like a regular one. It also looks cleaner which as a truck driver once told me, is the best insurance to not getting pulled over for inspection.

Hey Mike..I just read an interesting article about a projected shortage of white oak that will impact the distillery world for their oak barrels. I thought of you immediately with the white oak you process. Might be worth investigating for some sales opportunity over time.
Wanted to say we’re like farmers when it’s light out I’m up. When it gets dark I want to go to bed. In the winter I call it bear syndrome early hibernation. Mike, you just need that firewood processor that you set the log on and it has a hydraulic chainsaw that cuts to length drops down to a splitter and has a conveyor on the end....I'm sure those things are quite a bit of an expense too...just like your new sawmill you got on order, ouch, seen some pricing on those, but with what you do, it would sure be worth it for you as an investment, and they really are an investment, its not like a car they don't immediately depreciate in value as soon as you use it, and it will save you time and materials. With the setup you have now its more time consuming getting a log setup and level, and there's a lot of oops times in there I'm sure that you cut out of your videos, where that new mill is more automatic and easier on your body to get a log set and ready to mill. Can't wait to see that new mill when you get it.
I’d love to see a moisture reading on a pile like you have there in a year. Just got some wood delivered a mix of northeast PA species (lot of cherry) the moisture reading is 22% on average I’d say using a general moisture meter. Have to pick and choose what I can burn this season. Great video mike.

This week, I finished my 9th lazy susan made out of some cherry-bark oak that I've had for 45 years. I got it when I was teaching junior high Industrial Arts ("shop") back in the '70s. Also, I used up some of my 40+ year old stash of walnut, Honduras Mahogany, and poplar on those lazy susans, too. It's tons of fun rolling my Shopsmith, planer, jointer, and work table out into the driveway (I live on a corner property, so folks have to slow down when they pass) so all the neighbors can see what I'm working on. It's fun when neighbors honk, wave, give me an "attaboy" sign, or even stop by just to see what I'm working on. Well...
If I had access to that stash of stuff you had, ..... man, oh man! So, be sure to get a good woodworking shop set up in the building so you can build some gorgeous pieces that will amaze the people to whom you give those projects.

Good morning! Nice symbiosis going there! Tom’s got a tree he needs to remove, Mike’s got a use for it. Turning the two logs into lumber that could go into his son’s house, maybe as a nice mantle, is a nice closed loop too.
Tom’s got a really good dry sense of humor too. He didn’t miss a beat saying he hit your fence on the way down. Or patting the metal and saying he scratched the paint with the magnet. He reminds me of a family friend back home from my high school years.
Looks like you need to make another run to get IBC totes. With that new trailer, you can get more, right? Take your ice skates - looks like Adam has made a rink somewhere up there.
Hi Mike, I bought a dump trailer this past summer and love it. I was wondering if you and Tom ever considered putting a wireless control on your trailers, I have one on mine and I find it makes it so much nicer to be able to dump from the cab of my truck. I just thought I’d mention that to you, thanks Mike.
