I just finished a defensive driving course in order to reduce our insurance rates, though we are ticket and accident free. I actually found the course helpful and saw how I could improve and be a safer driver. The takeaways are: Most drivers are "unconsciously incompetent". It reinforces the need to expect the other driver to do something really stupid. I find they are pretty easy to spot and try to stay out of their way. Aggressive driving has a much broader definition than I thought. Finally, I have to work on my reaction to when people do something stupid. I'm much better, but still need to improve. I don't have to win even if I'm right, I just need to let it go. That's especially important with the number of crazies out there who may be armed.

The speed limit sign at the beginning of that block is 50.
I don't think he did. You can see that the lights from the other cars are illumining the road in front of them. There is no road illumination in front of the cammer. I guess it's possible the truck driver didn't notice the cammer or based on normal traffic speed thought there was time to cross.
