I remember this season well. The first game of that season was Liverpool - Man City at Anfield on August 12th 1972. A scorching hot day. Attendance 55,883. Brian Hall scored the first goal of the entire season to put us 1-0 ahead. Larry Lloyd and Wyn Davies were both sent off for fighting. Ian Callaghan scored the second in the 84th minute after Corrigan had prevented Hall from getting a second. We won the League that year and that was the start of our 17 years of dominance. Great season with great memories.

Yes, you are right I was 12 years old... I remember Arsenal beat Liverpool 0:2 at Anfield to go top and then proceeded to mess it up drawing or losing games and losing the Semi Final 2:1 to Sunderland

It was an habit type thing and demonstration of respect for ur opponent...A different time &set of standards in society!..As oppose to now where, cheating is seen as some kind of virtue!..It doesn't matter what or how u do it,as long as the outcome is beneficial!

That's simply how it was. I still do it today. Why not? I do get abused for doing so, but so what. I'm simply recognising a good passage of play.

The 'goal' by Alan Campbell at 48:40 wasn't the Birmingham 3rd goal. That 'goal' was disallowed for offside, even though he was clearly onside. Gordon Taylor scored the Blues 3rd goal.

As far as I know, Tyne Tees has huge amounts of archive, but I haven't seen much of them. I have seen footage from a game between Newcastle and Manchester City from this season (appeared on The Rock and Goal years, of Granada), but, as of today, I have not seen it on CZcams (It has been deleted). If something new appears, I will upload the goals or footage in new videos.

The Kop and Anfield Road were full as it was relatively more expensive in the areas like the old Kemlyn Road, which is visible. Liverpool won that UEFA competition and League too that season so plenty of European and League games for the fans to save their money for. Your jealousy shines through.

This is why I don't get football these days !! you can,t tell me tapping a ball around to the goalkeeper every 2 minutes is entertaining...Get it forward with width and pace!! Big man , little man upfront...bit of 3rd man running ( watch Mcdermott, Cormack, Bryan Robson )
