Chicken in my $8 Dollar Rotisserie Oven

  • One thing my wife Monica discovered shortly after we moved to Wisconsin is the Auction house. People bid on stuff people are trying to sell, and you can really find some great deals on stuff versus paying full price.
One such item was a Ronco Showtime Rotisserie Oven that she got for only $8 Dollars. I have always wanted to have one of these, especially after watching the entertaining infomercial many times in the late 1990's when this product was first introduced.
In this video I prepare a whole Chicken in this Rotisserie Oven. Will it meet my expectations and be a "set it and forget it" oven, or is this an over hyped gadget that isn't worth your time of day? Watch the video to find out.

Im one that does the rub, then trusses with string
When these steps done, ive found one easy way to mount on the rotisserie prongs is set just the prongs in grey base standing upright, then place chicken vertical, neck side down, legs up, and center on prongs, puncture meat, then push chicken down prongs and they'll poke out by legs. Place other end (cog wheel) on rotisserie and place in cooker.
Might not work for everyone, but easiest method I've found so far.
    Happy rotisserying!!❤

I've had my original Showtime Rotisserie since 2003, looks exactly like this one. And I still use it all the time and it works as awesome as ever. What made the classic 2001 infomercial so epic is that this product really does everything the infomercial promised. Everything comes out amazing in this rotisserie. Thanks for the cool video.

It is rotating right now with a chicken that was brined overnight with salt, sugar, black peppercorn and bay leaves and than a homemade dry rub made with garlic and onion powder, smoked paprika, oregano and thyme. Good job. I have missed my old rotisserie that I gave away to one of my kids. I recently bought the new stainless steel one. It did a great chicken so I tried ribs and they were beautiful but I did cook them a bit too long. My fault entirely. I'm doing a salmon filet tonight. One note. I found that a rack of baby back ribs cut in half just fit in the fish basket. A bit hard to compress the cover to fit but I managed it. I have a large electric smoker outside but it's close to a hundred degrees and I prefer to cook indoors while it's that hot. I did note that without the vegetable pan they sell you can take a small lightweight sauce pan and cook vegetables like heating beans with it on top of the rotisserie. I would also guess you can take a foil pan and heat vegetables in it on top as well. Just cover it with foil to hold the heat in. I don't remember when ron started selling the ovens but I do remember him selling the vegetable slicing machine that I still have two of from back around 1969. It can make regular fries, crinkle cut fries, and waffle cut fries.
