    CZcams has changed the way they monetize my content. My channel now needs 1,000 subscribers so it would be amazing if you could show your support by both watching my videos and subscribing to my channel! Monetizing my videos allows me to invest back into the channel with new equipment to improve the viewing quality so a small gesture from you goes a huge way for me :-) Many thanks for your support!

    Thanks so much for your great videos! You’ve inspired me to look for a project and have another go. Years ago in Ware I went regularly to an upholstery workshop, then I moved and could no longer go. I just checked all my craft stuff and found that I still have all the tools I purchased back then, probably 20 years ago! They’ve moved to the other side of the world with me 😂

    Thank you for the tool list. One correction @ 13:47, those cutters are sheet metal shears (AKA tin snips). They are used for cutting metal (by trades that work with sheet metal or metal strapping like HVAC installers/techs) so have a much more durable blade that stays sharper than ordinary garden snips.

    Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but when using the unpicker to rip through a seam, flip it around so the red ball goes in first. The ball prevents the fabric from getting caught and you can rip through the seam like butter.

    Neil this is SOOOOO helpful! Thank you! I’ve begun my first project - redoing a buttoned otttoman. BUT I’m already STUCK at recovering the buttons. I bought new sets but the getting the fabric on them is incredibly fiddly … because it’s not thin shirt weight cotton but a slightly heavier upholstery fabric. What’s the secret? I saw you using a heavy iron button holer (not the real name im sure) but it still seems difficult. Any hints??

    Question: I've seen you use an oscillator to cut staples for one of your videos. Do you recommend that tool for more advance upholsterers who want to remove staples quickly? Does it leave the legs of the staple still in the wood?

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  Před 2 lety

      Hi Aisha! Yes I absolutely would recommend one for advance upholsterers that have to regularly remove a lot of staples - it saves so much time! It does leave part of the staple in the wood but it cuts the staple off clean so there’s no rough edges. You may have to pull the odd few as you go but shouldn’t be many.

The Tacwise guns are reasonably priced too and work great! I hope this helps 😊👍🏻

    Hi there, just wanted to say first of all… I’m learning a lot from your videos and you make me laugh! Anyway I have ordered the long nose meite staple gun you recommended… now I’m reading about a lot of jamming up with long nose guns? What is your experience? Are you happy with the meite?

      @faceliftinteriors  Před rokem

      Hi Heather! Sorry for the delayed response, I didn’t receive a notification of your comment. I always used to use a Tacwise long nose, which for the price was a good gun. The Meite was the US equivalent that I was recommended by a fellow upholsterer over the pond but I have not used one myself being from the UK. I’ve upgraded my long nose to a BEA and couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re using it for more than just a hobby (as it is on the pricier side!) Thank you for watching my videos, glad you are finding them helpful 😊

      Hi, depends on what you are doing.
      They go from 4mm all the way upto 16mm. I use 4 or 6mm if working on thin wood. 8mm or 10mm as standard and I use 14mm if I'm using metal gripper or if there is a lot of material to get through. Hope this helps and good luck with your work. 🙏⛏️🧵📎📐✂️
