  • In this video we go through different deep buttoning (diamond tufting) techniques for beginners that I found useful when I was a beginner in upholstery. We'll take you through the easiest way to measure your diamonds and how to plan out your diamonds on your new fabric and all of the different button styles you can use. As well as the 'quick' way to deep button or diamond tuft and the pros and cons of this technique as well as my favored technique.

    Excellent channel and very good content especially for beginners. This video in particular was very helpful as it's giving me troubles lately. I would like if you could upload a video in the future where you would show how to mark surfaces for diamonds, headboards, ottomans, bed sides, etc. All in all i learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work, deffo one of my favorite channels.

    Hi, I'm really enjoying your videos! They're very informative. I recently bought an old Parker Knoll Froxfield chair and I'd like to have a go at recovering it and maybe adding a bit of extra padding. The Froxfield has distinctive arms where part of the wood is exposed with no visible tacks, and I'm wondering how this would be done. Would you use metal tack strip as you would for an outside back?

    Thanks Neil for this tutorial. Like you, I always draw the lines so I can keep the fabric straight as I move across the piece. If you have to VanDyke, do you do that pleat first, get it set and then move on?

    • @MikeHikeBike
      @MikeHikeBike Před rokem +1

      In his Van Dyke video he explains at the very end how he works out from the joint. That makes the most sense, so as to avoid the fabric from shifting and revealing the seam.

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  Před rokem +1

      Hi Ricky, hope you are well buddy?! Yes I generally do the van Dyke pleat first then work outwards from there!
      Hope this helps. 🙏 😊📎🧵⛏️📐✂️

    Question for reference... Spacing for fabric was 7.5 and 9.5... but what was the actual spacing of the holes on the headboard?

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  Před rokem

      Hi Francis, can't remember off the top of my head but at a guess it would be approximately 8" x 6". Hope this helps 🙏✂️⛏️📎📐🧵

    Great overall but how do you cover your buttons in the fabric - I only have 14 to do so how can I avoid spending hundreds of pounds on a professional button maker? 😢

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Try and find a local upholstery suppliers near you and ask them if they will make them up for you. You will have to pay a small amount but saves buying a machine. Hope it works out! 🙏😊📐⛏️✂️🧵
