      I already had the bridge in mind, but will definitely be looking into the rock formations and winery. Also, thanks for the tip on the reusable bags - this is the first I heard about those.

    I really enjoyed the video. I'll be in Aruba this summer. I'm staying in a VRBO on Eagle Beach. I already have Red Fish on my list for dinner and you just confirmed my decision. I was planning on walking to Terrazza Italiana since it's so close to my condo but now I'm feeling concerned about the dog situation. Otherwise, I don't plan to walk in any residential areas during my vacation.

    In the Carribean, dogs are traditionally well trained to protect the property. As long as you keep walking, they won't go after you. If you stop or look like you want to go onto someone's property, then they might charge at you.

    • @LucasWorldTravel
      @LucasWorldTravel  Pƙed měsĂcem +1

      All I know of this dog in Aruba came from behind the fence crossed the street and followed us down the street barking and growling. It should not be that way. Guard dogs should be confined to the yard for everyone’s safety.

      @@LucasWorldTravel I hear you, and I'm certain it was a terrifying experience. I was born in Jamaica but came to the US as a child, so I am familiar with and comfortable in each country's culture.
      After 15 years in the US, I returned to Jamaica to spend time with my grandparents at their home in the country. When I got out of the car, their dogs immediately ran towards me, barking and growling all the way. With one word from my grandmother, they stopped in their tracks and returned to her. I stayed at her home for a month, and the dogs paid me no attention because of that first call back. She even had me feed them a couple of times (raw chicken with bones and other scraps). During that time, I was able to observe their behavior, which consisted of warning anyone and everyone not approved by my grandparents to stay away from the property line. Sometimes the dogs would give chase to ensure the potential intruder didn't try to be slick. I never saw them bite or attack anyone because everyone that pass the property got the message.
      The only dog attack that I'm aware of was here in the US. My brother was very badly bitten at our friend's house in Washington DC. Her dog was poorly trained and only understood attack mode, so when he managed to escape from a locked room in the house and quickly found him in the livingroom preparing to leave with us for school. My brother's initial scream was terrifying. He continued to scream, however, because the dog had locked his jaw into the bite and wouldn't release. The adults at the house struggled to free my brother (age 9 at the time). The bite went to the bone and required an emergency room visit, bed rest for several days, and crutches for sometime thereafter.

      @@user-bg5vv1zi7d On the islands, if you have dogs and they are biting people, the owner will be criminally libel and fined. Something else to know, dogs usually aren't treated as pets on the Islands. They are working animals trained to guard property or atleast alert the owner to an intruder.
      Is it possible for us to agree that the Lucas's encountered one of many cultural differences between the islands and the US?
