I am from Curacao, fiercely protective of my island and... I enjoyed watching your video!
The thing is Curacaoans and Arubans are brothers/sisters and we love going to each others island. We also love befriending and/or marrying the other.
Indeed we might be different in certain aspects, but variety is the spice of life.
Regarding the beaches, Aruba's southside is one long beautiful beach indeed. You can be just driving along and just park your car and go swimming. While Curacao has more than 40 beaches, secluded bays, all over the island. So when you go to the beach in Curacao, you really GO. Driving thru all kinds of landscapes and bamm...suddenly an open space with a beautiful secluded bay. I was born here and this allways still impacts me. Unfortunately several previous governments, with a view to attracting investors, leased out the land bordering certain beaches. This means that if you decide to go to one such beach, like the highly developed Mambo beach, you will pay an entrance fee, meant for the upkeep of that beautiful place. If you want to go to the beach every day, and still want to be near Mambo, just a 10 minute walk to the West of Mambo you have the Pier beach. Same beautiful water and free and you meet very friendly locals of all races and colours. You can take your own food and drinks or buy at a local fish restaurant there.
Our language Papiamentu is based on: Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English, African, some French and Native Indigenous (who Columbus wrongly called Indians) words. It originates from colonial times when the Spanish, English, Dutch, Africans and Native Indigenous peoples were trying to communicate with each other. To me the most beautiful living language ever. It is also taught in several American and European universities.
As a Curacaoan I love to hear Arubans speak Papiamentu, (Arubans write and pronounce it as Papiamento) because to me it sounds as if they are singing it. My Aruban friends and family say the same to me. But of course as a Curacaoan...I am allways right! (LOL)
The way to write in Papiamentu differs on both islands. Aruba follows the etymological way. Meaning they look at the original word and derives the Aruban word from that. For example: a house in Aruban Papiamentu is: un cas. Because cas derives from casa (house in Spanish, Portuguese). In Curacao we follow the Fonological way. Meaning you write what you hear. So a house in Curacao is written as: un kas. You hear a "k", so you write a "k". When speaking, you sometimes hear some differences however in general the spoken word sounds quite the same. Our other sister island Bonaire also speaks Papiamentu in yet a more singing way in my view.
Lastly, using the word Dushi (sweet, sweetness, darling, honey, baby, honeybunch, etc.) shows the difference in culture between our region and American cities or places indeed. We express our feelings, with the other without the other feeling stalked or attacked. It is just how one is brought up. We love loving ourselves and loving others, without any negativesness behind it. We (Arubans and Curacaoans) just love enjoying life, no matter what!

Sorry but 40 years ago that was different. The Arubans did not want nothing to do with the Curacaolinez. Learn your History. Why did you think that Aruba wanted there Status Aparte? It wil be better if a much older person would make a vlog of the two Islands, and how it really went. The young generations that make there vlogs about the Islands don't know nothing.

My favourite beach is Playa Kenepa. It's free. There are lots of beaches around there where you don't have to pay at all.

That is only the case if you visit some of the developed and tourist beaches. The majority and most beautiful natural beaches are free. I just think that should be clear.

It’s not fair if you only compare mambo beach for Curaçao. I live there for 5 months now and the absolute best thing is the beaches all around. You can easily snorkel without a big swim out and have awesome sunsets, nobody will make you pay...
Hi @alex pool! In this case (video) we are comparing the "resort" type beaches on Curacao and Aruba. Mambo was named as an example of this type of beach on Curacao. The comparison is that the "resort" type beaches often expect payment on Curacao, and on Aruba they do not.
Yes, you are right Curacao has many beautiful less crowded beaches for those willing to drive. But so does Aruba.

In our opinion and by the look of it and it's set up: Mambo is indeed more of a resort type beach than it is a natural beach. Especially with the ....resort beach that adjoins it on the one side....😉
We went almost every day because of the proximity to our apartment.
And with chairs set up right to the edge of the water and servers....

THIS video was our experience with the DIFFERENCES between Aruba and Curacao. And, what WE found living in both countries was that overall, there were more beaches in Curacao that had a fee, development and amenities on them and Aruba had more extensive, open and free beaches.

" That is what we say in our video and what other travelers should know. :) Every single beach in Aruba is FREE and anyone can sit, lay a towel down, and enjoy. In Curacao we found more that asked us to pay to sit, and to just lay a towel down.

Bon dia Guys, I am from Aruba, enjoyed the video and indeed the Papiamento language are different between the islands, but still is our dushi Papiamento. It is a creole language that obtained most of its vocabulary from Spanish and Portuguese, but also has some words of Dutch origin and English, along with a number of words from Arawak Indian and African languages.

You are correct about the differences between the way Papiamento is spoken on both islands. The stress on the vowels are slightly different. Some words may be specific to each islands, but in general we understand each other perfectly.
Main differences are Curacao and Bonaire follow a phonology based spelling and Aruba etymology spelling. Identical words ending with "o" on Aruba would end with "u" on Curacao. For example the local word for hill is "Sero" on Aruba, on Curacao the spelling would be " Seru".

Papiamento in Aruba is softer and melodic.
Yamanota is the tallest hill in Aruba not Hooiberg. The economy in Curaçao is more diverse, Aruba’s economy is 90 percent tourism dependent. Yet Aruba seems more prosperous and well maintained than Curaçao. Curaçao’s capital Willemstad is far more historical and interesting than the capital Oranjestad in Aruba. Nevertheless both are nice towns. People overall in Aruba are nicer, chill, open to know you. Aruba’s infrastructure is better organised and easy to manoeuvre around than Curaçao. Curaçao has richer nature than Aruba, the ground in Curaçao is more fertile. Aruba is a submerged island from coral stone and less fertile. I feel Aruba is much cleaner. I love both islands. Would definitely go to both you can not go wrong with either.

Yes, from our experience, in the full 6 month period we lived in each country, the beaches in Aruba were easier to get to and more easily accessible. That is based on where we went in both countries.
Wish we would have met YOU in Curacao to show us more of the free, close beaches to go to!

However, i must say that this is a tricky and sensitive subject to talk about because Aruba forever taught that they are better than us and we from Curaçao also think that we are better than them. Exactly! Aruba is for the typical, average tourist (mass tourism). Curaçao is more authentic and for the more adventurous, basically having most things that Aruba has + much more.
You can find adventure in Aruba as well. One half of Aruba is tourism oriented, Aruba pabou, Aruba pariba is adventure.

You can not compaire the 2 Island. Our culture is diffent. Aruba is more Americanised and Curaçao is Dutch.
The language is not a dialect. It is proclaimed by the United Nation as a language. It sounds differed and written differend. But we understand each other🤣

I wouldn’t say the language differences between the islands are considered a dialect, but more like differences in accents and such. So for example the differences in English you hear across the States, such as Florida vs Texas or the US vs England. All in all, it is the same language that’s being spoken on Aruba, Bonaire & Curaçao and we all understand each other:)

I am half Dutch and half Aruban. I left Aruba in 1978 at the age of 16. Aruba and Curaçao have never actually been sister Islands. Why do you think that Aruba wanted Status Apart? BTW Aruba is not one Happy Island and neighter Curaçao. The Local people are suffering everyday. The Arubans are complaining how Aruba has become. Our Beautiful Island has gone to the dogs just for the benefits for the Tourist, and you know that just aswell as me.

Curaçao is better for me because, wherever I am, I’m always curious to interact with the locals and get to know the vibe. In Curacao, you’ve got nothing to worry about. The locals are kind, friendly and always helpful. I come back next year 2022

heyo! I'm a student from Aruba and I can definitely confirm that Papiamento from Aruba and Papiamento from Curaçao are different. The dialects of Papiamento have a different vocabulary and words are also spelled very differently (an example could be that most words that have a C in Aruban Papiamento have a K in Curaçaoan, such as Cas [house] vs Kas).
And also, about the word dushi; yes it does mean sweet or sweetheart, but be careful because it can be used as catcalling lol (like telling someone "bo ta mustra dushi" basically means "you look hot/delicious" or calling someone like "ey dushi" [hey sweetie] is also catcalling. depends on the context ofc!!).
You can ask anything else you'd like lol

Nice video!! curacao, bonaire and aruba are like families, the language on each island is slightly different dialects but we can understand them all perfectly, sometimes we make jokes about the accent just for fun. The dushi part ... didn’t you guys find any dushi food ? Hmm e kuminda ta dushi, it’s a dushi beach, if a stranger calls you dushi it’s not like flirting or anything the way to throw punches, but if ther do it in a more flirtatious way the “way it said “ is different.

I am from Curaçao (but also love "dushi Aruba") and I totally agree with you. There are small differences between papiamentU of Curaçao and papiamentO of Aruba. Most of the differences are: etymological, accent, emphasis and some different words and spelling.

Great video! As a former missionary to Aruba from USA, I have to say that it was a real pleasure getting to know the local people, the Papiamento language, the culture, customs, and lifestyle. Aruba was my home for many years, as I was a permanent resident there. I can definitely verify about the differences between Papiamento and Papiamentu. While living on Aruba I had the opportunity to study Papiamento in detail in evening courses with native speakers. I also immersed myself into the language and frequently spoke it with the local people during my many years there. In addition to living on Aruba I visited Curacao and found it to be another beautiful island with warm and friendly people.

I live in the US and Curacao. Purchased a home in Curacao in 2012. Simply put, Aruba is much more Americanized. Large hotels with expansive beaches. Curacao is not only a much larger island as you pointed out but with a lot more people. Take any market with more people you will have more traffic. However, you probably lived downtown and that is where the majority of the population and traffic are. On the West end, not like this at all. As for the beaches, your video paints that all beaches in Curacao are pay beaches and they are not $10-12 either. With over 38 different beaches the difference is not really about paying but the type of beaches. Expansive wide beaches are Aruba. Uniquely different cove like beaches in Curacao offer busy fun areas like Mambo or the many secluded and private beaches on the West end of the island. Both islands are outstanding and with a short flight we get to enjoy what all three offer, (including Bonaire).

I enjoyed the video, I love both islands. On the Curacao beaches: it came across as if paying to go to the beach is the norm compared to Aruba, whereas that would only be applicable to some of the popular tourist beaches near Willemstad. There is even a beach right in the city that is free. The majority and most beautiful beaches in Curacao are free and located on the West side of the island and these are also not developed.

Nice video cakers! LOL...Torontonian living on Curacao for five years. There are different dialects depending on which parts of both islands you visit. Westpunt people for example are very distinctive from those from the rest of Curacao. Hope you come back to live here. We need more Canadians!

I prefer Aruba over Curacao. I can drive or ride a bus from baby beach to the high rise in no time, and hang out at Mathews, my favorite water hole. I've spent many new year's eve in Aruba because of the awesome fireworks display. Great info.

Some +- 45 years ago the Management of Holiday inn Aruba tried to pick our beach by implying that the locals were too noisy making it unsafe for their quests and for some time forbidden the use of their running water to clean up after swimming. The locals protested loud and clear and they abandoned this absurd idea after we had the Government intervening. Had we not protested Aruba would probably had ended up like Curacao is today not respecting the International rights on beaches stating that 12 Meters from the shore MUST be open and FREE for everyone. I guess most people are not aware of this affair or were not even born yet.
The languages actually even have a slightly different name. The one spoken in Curaçao is papiamentu and the one in Aruba is called papiamento. And I really wonder where you were driving from that took an hour and a half because the only time a drive took me so long was when I was driving from the west side and there was an accident but I guess if you drive on or around Caracasbaaiweg during rush hour it could take long too because there are a lot of hotels and resorts around there.

Yes, we surely weren't the fastest drivers in Curacao, and we always seemed to NEED a stop at Yankee Donuts on the way to the west end, haha : ) So that probably adds 15-20 minutes to the drive time.

Yes,you are right. We have different ways of pronounces certain words. Aswel as spelling of certain words. The accent aswel. One thing is common on both islands is we all use the word/expression;dushi and danki among other words which is dushi (sweet) and danki (thank you) dushi can be used as a form of endearment or to indicate taste-food for example or as a more romantic or sexual overtone depending on the situation (persons intensions). Correction the highest point of Aruba is Jamanota not Hooiberg. Jamanota which is located in the national park (national park Arikok) is a height of 188m (617 ft). hooiberg which is located almost in the center of the island has a hight of 165m which makes it the second highest point of Aruba, the reason why hooiberg is more known is because at the top u will get a 360 view of the island and because of its location u can see hooiberg anywhere u are on the island.
Just something that people should know when they come and visit the island.

Arikok hill is second highest point 🤷🏻♂️. Hooiberg is third. All three of them are accessible for hiking. But the two highest points are in the National park, which a little fee has to be paid. Hopefully this helped

Actually Hoorberg is no 4. Seroe Cabay (translated horse hill) is no 3. The top of Jamanota is accessible as well, just like Arikok hill and Seroe Cabay.

I visit Curaçao in 2016 and Aruba in 2017 loved them both but i prefer Curaçao because its bigger and It seems less tourism. Baby beach in Aruba is a nice place to spend your day and Blue Bay in Curaçao is great.
@Gerson C. We also enjoyed both, they offer different things. We loved the slower pace of Aruba but we loved the larger size of Curacao to find more to explore.

My family and I went to Curaçao in 2019 for the first time after going to Aruba for 8 years prior! We have to say hands down...Aruba! Curaçao is lovely but Aruba is 100% meant for tourists and they for sure treat us so much better than Curaçao! We can’t wait to go back to Aruba when COVID improves! We sure do miss Aruba and the people we met! 🇦🇼❤️
Having lived for 6 months in both countries, we'd have to say we agree with your comments.....we felt better, were treated overall better and life was calmer and simpler in Aruba. That was our experience anyways. :)

Aruba is indeed meant for the average tourist who loves resorts and likes having all amenities right across the street from his resort, the typical mass tourism destination. Curaçao is for those who are more adventurous, who like exploring more, nature, hiking, underwater world, culture/history and authenticity!

To almost all natural beaches in Curacao you can go for free such as for example Caracasbaai, Directeursbaai, Maripanpoen and almost all the beaches in the West (Daaibooi, West Punt, playa Piscado, Playa Kalki, Knip etc)with some exceptions. Especially the developed beaches in the south east part(so not the natural beaches) such as Mambo that you mentioned you have to pay.

We just simply mentioned the fact that there was "Mambo" Beach and other paid beaches in Curacao because Aruba doesn't have ANY paid beaches. So we mention that as being one of the differences between the two islands. 😉

The beaches where you had to pay are owned by the Dutch sadly. And you know the Dutch, they charge you for everything. Curaçao has allot of free local beaches, sadly you don't mention those.
In this case we are comparing the "resort" type beaches on Curacao and Aruba. The comparison is that the "resort" type beaches often expect payment on Curacao, and on Aruba they do not.

@@PlanFree i get what your saying but, aruba doesnt have any other beach outside eagle beach, baby beach, and maybe one other.. i think the fact that curacao has over 38 beaches is a hugh waying factor because if you do not wish to pay for a beach you still have more cosy and private beaches to go to... and honestly in my opinion the beaches you dont have to pay for are the more beautiful ones... reagarding the papiamentu aruba and curacao have different vocabularies.. some words are the same bit papiamentu in aruba is more spanish driven in writting and wording and curacao more dutch and creol influences.. but nice job guys your welcome on both islands...
@@garyhollander1 you obviously haven't been to Aruba if you think our most popular known beaches are the only beaches we have. Regarding the language that's true, our Papiamento is more Spanish driven and Curacao's Papiamento is more Afrikaans driven.

not completely true. Some are owned by the local pension fund (APC); maybe run by a Dutch company yes, but not owned. The fact that some beaches are not private goes back to our history, where those terrains were already private because the government does not sell land.

I really loved Aruba and would be able to live there for 6 months - I love how small the island is, people are so nice and good looking. The only thing I did not get used to is how they take their sweet time with stuff - I live a fast pace life so that is on me I guess. The food was amazing, so fresh and many healthy choices. I would say it is more on the pricey side but hitting the market outside the resorts helps big time. The humid took some time to get used too though, didn't like the fact that it would be 12am and sweating like a pig in nice clothing ..lol
We agree, living in Aruba for 6 months was awesome! The perfect sized island to explore in that amount of time, on a relaxed pace.
Yes! The people are great, food great and prices definitely come down when you eat and shop locally!

Hi, Aruban here. Awesome video guys. Just a few things you should know about our language, it is a melting pot of many languages, this is because throughout history Aruba has had many settlers and the word “Danki” is not Dutch it is actually from Africa. We use words borrowed from many languages such as Dutch, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and so many more. And the word “dushi” (pronounced, “ doo-shi”) is one you might want to be mindful of the context you use it in. For example the way you used it in this video translates to a cat call if you are speaking to a stranger or basically anyone you are not in a relationship with 😅 If we think someone is sweet or nice, we use “lief” which is a actually a Dutch world.

Maybe we're just not that funny ; ) as most of the viewers didn't get the joke. Maybe Aruba/Curacao lack a sense of humor? Nah!? Yes, of course we know the pronunciation after living on the islands for 12 months. We purposely adjusted the pronunciation to fit the joke, if you get what I mean ; )

Papiamentu was created in Curaçao, so when you say things like; _"It is a melting pot of many languages, because throughout history Aruba has had many settlers"_ It just doesn't make sense at all. Yes, Aruba has had many settlers over the years, but the reasons why Papiamentu is a melting pot in the first place, is because they settled in CURAÇAO.

Yes, indeed the difference between the two islands is that Curacao got many advantages over us, especially in the economy, aided massively by the Netherlands as it served as the capital city of the Netherlands Antilles, compared to us, we were more of a rural island until we got a separated autonomy.
The people are quite happy to meet people so diverse especially when we see English people, Portuguese and most luck is French, we'd love to ask them sometimes how is their country, instead, we just smile haha!

Yes, Aruba as a historically more rural island is probably what lends to its calm and peaceful environment now.
And generally, travellers look for that since they are mostly vacationing (1-4weeks).
We are in a unique situation because we live abroad 6 months of the year (in normal years!) and so we look for relaxing, interested environments as well as enough things to do/see/explore and live life (gym? Immigration office?) etc.
Curacao probably hold the interested of a foreigner for longer, but Aruba captures the heart!

Hi I'm from Curaçao did you guys went to the mall we have? Like sambil and renaissance. In sambil it's more fun bc theres bowling, movies, video game store were you can play with the games, trampoline park, a playground for the little ones, a pastry shop, a gym and a restaurant (btw the restaurant is not in the food court) in renaissance it's more for tourists where there is a lot more souvenirs stuff. And if you dont mind me asking where did you guys stayed in Curaçao? (Btw I agree with you guys some ppl in Curaçao are rude but dont think that were all like that)
Oh and also the local food is amazing my favorite is yambo aka okra soup or banana stoba aka plantain stew or papaya stoba aka papaya stew and lastly bonchi which I think is red bean soup delicious
One of our favorites was the Christmas time donut-like thing (forgive my spelling) Olie Bolin? Help me, lol.
Yes, we did enjoy the malls a few times, you're right they had a bit of everything. We took in a movie "Avengers End Game" in the theatre there, and it was top notch!

Rude, ignorant and stupid people are found all over the world especially in the states where as soon you step out off the plane you are confronted by some guy who came floating from Cuba on a tube, got his green card and now treats you a tourist like shit. And if you go to Canada you are doomed as soon as you arrive, because they treat you like a criminal before you step out of the airport, talking about rude and ignorant.

What we SAID was that we met friendly people on both islands but we would have to say that the friendly level went up a notch in Aruba. :) Easy. Simple.

I feel like an important thing to touch on would be the ethnic and racial identities of the islands. Even though they have similar cultures, Aruba is mostly mixed with a large Black population. While Curacao is almost exclusively African.

Yes on Aruba we speak Papiamento and on Curaçao they speak papiamentu, so yes different dialects

They got things that are identical.
The culture is a little different. And even if they all can speak Papiamentu..they surely have different words. Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao has its own entonation when they speak Papiamento.
And we dont have mountain, we have hills

Hi! Great expose. I grew up in Curacao. Truly many changes Since I last visited in 1981, when it was all run down and even no telephone service. Happy that it's become such a wonderful tourist destination. Sushi was certainly never expressed that way before. Yes, danki is papiamento, which is a mixture of mostly African dialect and Spanish and Portuguese words, along with some Dutch mixed in. In Dutch you would say Dank U Wel.
Aruba's native population is mostly Caribbean Indian mixed with fewer Blacks. They are more laid back and makes for a different tone, and I think also some different words mixed in. They do have a different culture from Curacao. Glad you're enjoying both. By the way, from what I learned online, jamboree beach is totally man-made. Plus the fact it's downtown I guess that's why they are charging. Although on some west coast beaches there's also a charge. I am enjoying my armchair travel at 81! My favorite beach destination now is Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic. Adios from Montreal.

Very interesting to read your recap and info about each islands history a little bit and about Papiamento. It was indeed all very interesting to us in the years that we lived on each island. That was several years ago now.
And our current favorite beach town is Puerto Escondido, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico! We are living here for 6 months, through the Canadian winter 21/22.

For us they were both great to live on for the 6 full months each as we mentioned in our video but to live permanently in full-time we would need something a little larger I think and easier to get on and off of.

Aruba is more targeted on American/ Canadian tourists.
Curaçao is more targeted on European tourists.. The elderly people on Curaçao can not speak English very well..

Hi, as many mentioned before we are sister islands (including Bonaire) and do not compete.
First of all, Papiamento is not a dialect and is a language same as English and we speak a minimum of 4 different languages on both islands.
Secondly, there are many differences in culture and history that makes the islands and their people different but to sum up.
If you want to relax by laying on the beach and have everything around you? Then Aruba is for you.
If you want to experience nature and go on an adventure, then you choose Curaçao.
So it all depends on what you want to do for a vacation.
They are both my home and love them both. But I do different things when I am on each.
@Louvie vW This particular video is about how the islands differ. Not competing. There is no "winner" or non winner, lol.
Many many people have not had the chance to visit these islands and are interested to know what each is like. We made this video, as we have replied many times already also, to help people know what the differences are. To help either plan their vacation or, like us, to move there for a short time to learn, see and experience the area. ;)
Both are great! But they do differ.

We love languages! They are fun to attempt, but Papiamentu/o was a beautiful tricky fast one to pick up in just 6 months!

@@PlanFree Every thing . you know that what Madero is doing charging to be on the beach is illegal. but almost know one on the island goes to that beach. is mostly tourist. all our beaches are free. they should press charges against them. but the local people don't go there. I shared it on fb so people can see what is going on.
The harbour that you show is neither Aruba nor Curacao. Curacao has 2 container kranes and aruba has 1 or maybe 2

What did you like about the video?
I've lived on Aruba for 5 years, Curaçao for 2 and Bonaire for 1. Love all three but I would choose Aruba any day of the week. The people are friendlier, beaches are more accessible (no matter where you are on the island the beach is never more than 10 minutes away. Curaçao has some great beaches but I would go once every 4-6 weeks when I was living there because getting to the beach is a hassle), their papiamento is easier to follow since they use more spanish words (i'm a native spanish speaker) in comparison with Curaçao and Bonaire who use more Dutch words and speak faster. As a South American I feel like the Aruban culture is very very similar to other South American countries, whereas Curaçao has a more Dutch-influenced culture. I actually disagree with the statement that Aruba is Americanized. I think Aruba does a good job of accomodating visitors no matter where they are from. Of course, if you only stay in the resorts (which are filled with Americans) you will have a very Americanized experience. But if you venture out you will see that Aruba is a very multicultural country and has a lot to offer. One thing that I also love about Aruba is that there seems to be more harmony between the different ethnic groups living on the island. In Curaçao everything seems to be a bit more separated (there are towns that are exclusively Dutch for example). In Aruba everyone lives together in peace and all ethnic groups seem to genuinely get along. There is a very strong community feeling on Aruba and Bonaire. On Curaçao not so much. The bureaucracy in Curaçao is insane. It's much easier to get stuff done in Aruba and Bonaire. My experience has been that it is easier to make friends (and maintain friends) in Aruba than in Curaçao. Curaçao is great if you want to get off the grid. But if you're trying to stay long-term, Aruba would be the better option.

I'm sorry, but as a tourist, how do you get to say which country's community is closer or not? That is such a broad, negative statement that I have to laugh.
Hey @toomessy, you can laugh all you like at @Mila Odu's comment and perspective but we agree with her.
Having lived in both countries for 6 full months and getting out and about every single day for hours on end with the people we met there, metting their families, talking with business owners, landlords, bankers, car repair people etc etc etc we got a feel for both places. And that was our impression. It's a generalization for sure.
In any country we could probably find pockets where our impression would very, for sure.
But as an OVERALL, totally agree with Mila. 😘

Exactly this why i would prefer visiting aruba over curacao.
People from aruba seem way more laid back,relaxed. And Curacao seems more the Dutch way with the busy way of town life. People seem more bothered.
@saradigota7201 yes, that is exactly the two vibes we picked up, one from each island.
We don't say we're experts anywhere in our videos buuut we have lived for six full months on each island.... renting in a local community, meeting our neighbors, shopping with our neighbors, buying/selling cars, Etc. So we do get a vibe and a feeling (more than a typical one or two week vacationer or quick backpacking traveler would gain in a shorter stay) for each island and of course you have to remember that there are many different communities available on each island too. So even though Curacao has a busier and bigget center/ population it's also a really much bigger island with so many small communities spread over much more territory. So, you can find pockets of quaint, calm, and community there also if that's what you're looking for.
Overall Aruba had definitely a smaller, more intimate friendly community type vibe in almost all the places we went, in a general sense.
You would probably LIKE both but you would LOVE Aruba.
