  • Cycling the world - Europe: 138 episode
    In the final episode of my journey along the Montañas Vacías bikepacking route, I awaken in a chilly valley on the outskirts of a village, Alcalá de la Selva, sheltered under a church porch to stay dry. It's a bittersweet morning; the excitement of completing this amazing route is tinged with a hint of sadness. With urgency, I head towards Teruel to resupply and find refuge from an impending 2-to-3-day intense storm. Join me as I conclude another incredible bikepacking adventure in Spain, adding yet another remarkable route to my collection.

    Thanks for effort in putting this together. As always very informative. Happy New Year too. Interesting to hear you say you passed some fellow tourers who ignored you. As a long distance cyclist myself I am always staggered when that happens. Especially given it doesn't take a lot to acknowledge someone doing the same thing as you in the middle of nowhere. Their loss I guess.

      Thanks for watching! Yeah thet passed me 4 times. The first time the first guy didnt say a word, I try to engage with the other guy but he barely said hello back. The second time they passed again first guy said nothing and second guy engaged a very brief exchange. Third time I was with Lluis and we were stopped on the trail taking some pics of the landscape below us and again they didnt bother to stop. So fourth time I didnt make an effort just said hello and that's it.
      I always try to engage with every person I meet on the trail and off the trail (I even say hello to everyone I see on the road or in the villages) and I'm happy to even stop for a chat. Bike travelling is not just about riding a bike and putting mileage into the legs. But to each its own way to travel and I respect it.

      @@DavideTravelli Yup agree with you 100%. Every long distance ride I have done the highlight has always been the people I have met.

      Ich habe gehört, wenn man in Schweden on der Natur anderen Wanderern oder Radfahrenden begegnet, wollen viele auch nicht reden. Man ist in meditativer Stimmung mit der Natur und will dieses Gefühl nicht stören. Aber man nickt einander kurz freundlich zu, das schon. Man ignoriert nicht völlig. Manche Schweden wollen natürlich auch reden.

      What would interest me, what about security on the tour? Not unporzmtant for female solotravellers! Have there been any violent attacks from criminals already? I think bikepackers could be easiliy overwhelmed, robbed and maybe more in the refugios in the night while they are sleeping if they are not the only guest or rhe door cannot be closed. Same problem.in a tent, of course. There would be no help. Not even reliable internet.

    • @DavideTravelli
      @DavideTravelli  Před 5 měsíci

      @@luisamarie9387 security is not an issue whatsoever, specially in Europe. Refugios are in pretty remote places for a reason, nobody in their right mind would go to rob a refugio.

    What kind of saddle you use? Please answer

    • @DavideTravelli
      @DavideTravelli  Před 6 měsíci +1

      A Selle San Marco. Any arse is different dont believe anyone who tells you their saddle is the most comfortable, they dont know what they are talking about. You should measure your sit bones distance and find an appropriate saddle. A visit to a bike fitter should take care of that.

      @@DavideTravelli Agree with everything you said. Everyone told me a BROOKS B17 was the best seat for long distance touring. Took me more than 5,000 km to break it in. Even then it's not everything that everyone says in term of comfort.

      Do you mean seen me riding the bike? I prefer POV because otherwise it's fake: I would have to place the camera, go back, go past the camera and ride back to collect the camera. So riding 3 times the same road. Not real.

    • @turbohan3117
      @turbohan3117 Před 6 měsíci

      @@DavideTravelli POV is real, right. But too much POV seems a bit boring. Don’t place the camera but hold it or using 360 camera to get more interesting view.
