    I haven't watched this video yet (I do plan to) but I just thought I would comment on the most recent one as theres more chance you'll see this comment haha. I don't usually comment on things a lot but I just had to let you know that I'm only after coming across one of your videos about an hour ago and am currently watching others - and I just had to pause for a second and just thank you. Thank you for all that you have done/are doing. Thank you for trying with such determination to help people. Thank you for your genuine care. Thank you for all the comments you reply back to people and the thought you put into them, even going as far as to come back months later to check up on people. Thank you for using your own struggles to benefit others and the world. Thank you for being so bravely truthful and honest and in turn encouraging others to do the same. Thank you for existing and thank you for being you. You have given so much validation to people and issues that need it and I can only hope you feel this sense of validation in your own life and actions because you seriously deserve it. Never doubt the impact you have made with these videos and with your words and actions in general. Never doubt yourself. You are amazing and I hope you live a life filled with so much happiness and freedom. ✌
    (sorry for the ridiculously long and probably cringey comment but when I feel something I gotta say it)

      i can't tell you what this means to me ❤️ I have it copied&pasted to my phone! *thank you* for such kindness and compassion. wishing you all the very best in your own life. What's your name? :)xxxx

      I am so so glad 💕 I truely mean every word.
      And just a side note, I've always been someone to keep my struggles to myself and always choose to only project positivity on to others (which Im aware you said is something you do/have done in the past so I'm sure you can relate) but because of this I am (very) rarely "helped" or whatever by someone elses words apart from my own, but in terms of the issues you talk about in your videos I can tell you you are the only person that has actually got through to me in some way and I seriously cant express how much of an accomplishment that is haha.
      Ps my name is Rebekah and I am also from Ireland 😎 💫 x

      Laura M Laura M and yes,totally.its really important to fuck it up the way it fucked US up. we need to turn the tables and be defiant. all it will cause is stress,anxiety,panic. we face that on a daily basis anyway!but enduring that for as long as possible allows for us to drain the power from ED. defiance is an attitude that's worked so well for me! and other people i know too

    Just watched this again. In full. I've never suffered from and ED but listening to you I can imagine how soothing, motivational and inspiring it would be for someone who has. Hell, it's inspiring for someone who hasn't, to see your train of thought, the struggle you've overcome and the kindness you've shown yourself in recovery. Amazing

    WOAH. I just stumbled across this video trying to find any bit of hope because this week has been so tough trying to get back on track. I have been keeping so many secrets from my family, and feel so trapped within my mind. What you are saying scares me but I know that must be a good thing. Thank you for doing these videos.

    Yet again the Vonnybird issues a triumph of human articulation!!!
    --This video really conveys to everyone, whether we have an ED or not, just how arduous, demanding, tricky, and exhausting recovery is. To know you went through this mental and physical and emotional battle is inspiring. And to hear you describe how you have succeeded, and now help others, makes us realize how special you are. (click "read more")
    --Over the last almost-seven years I've seen (and felt) your highs and lows, but it's these "retrospective" videos that put it all together. I now realize that despite how much I empathized along the way, no one could truly appreciate your challenges from moment to moment. You couldn't always tell your whole story then, because you were in the trenches fighting a minute-by-minute battle. I'm realizing more and more, just how much of a hero you are, even more than I knew you were years ago. Carry on, SpokesCorker!

    this was so helpful. Thank you. What i find hardest is getting near to maintenance. I always try to subconciously keep just below it because i'm so scared of no longer knowing i have that 'safety margin' Did you ever feel like that? If so, how did you get past that? Also, how long was it until you felt more able to accept your new body size and (possibly) shape? And did anything else help you in that respect?

    • @YvesyM
      @YvesyM  Před 7 lety

      Punk Kimono hey honey! ferg and I have spoken about this and we both still have a maximum cut off weight,that if we go over we feel unsettled. this number for me is close to what I believe is my natural weight(which is very hard to determine and requires lengthy observation, objectivity and experience to estimate this).what I find especially helpful is allowing yourself to increase your cut-off point by 3/4 pounds. re-enforcing a new slightly higher number so that you still feel reasonably safe. remember that determining your ideal weight shouldn't be governed by BMI.eg.my doctor always pointed out that some women only ovulate at a BMI of 22. if their BMI is 20 they would have to gain a few pounds to be at THEIR optimum health. I found that useful -it's black&white and completely individual.try choosing a higher number that pushes the boundaries of your comfort and say it out loud to somebody who supports you. agib it's still within your control,its YOUR choice to set the number a bit higher and all the same rules apply! also, I can't stress enough how much I don't believe in weighing scales!!!

      YvesyM yeah, that makes sens. Like you said about tricking the ED. Did you find your binge urges diminished when you got to a healthier weight or did you have to work on that separately?

    • @YvesyM
      @YvesyM  Před 7 lety

      No, to be honest I didn''t. I didn't find that at all... But I was a position that most likely you won't be in... My thyroid went underactive again(had to go on higher dose eltroxin) when I was at my prime strength of tackling binge/purge cycles. So I used eat a lot more and keep it down to try not to purge. (That was VERY hard mentally). I knew I would gain weight because I NEVER allowed myself to restrict or not have a meal, even when I had bouts of over-eating. But because of my thyroid I ended up gaining even MORE weight and was quite heavy. Getting to the high end of a normal BMI actually made me want to binge/purge more. Because it was my default coping mechanism! So no, I didn't find my urges diminished with weight change. BUT urges began to diminish the more I held out & DIDN'T act on my binge/purge urges. I actually found the more I ate the more I wanted to eat!!!(oh god). Hence the reason for me holding out and always always always having 3 set meals a day no matter WHAT I may had eaten before or after. Gave myself NO choice....

    • @elevenbyfive
      @elevenbyfive Před 7 lety

      YvesyM that sounds really tough. So much respect for you for coming through that. I'm afraid because when i eat, i want to binge, no matter how hungry i am (or rather am not!). But holding out will hopefully be easier if i'm not physically starving, and it won't ever improve until i start, right? Plus, when i was bingeing at a normal weight, i had no clue why and no other ways to cope, whereas now i have more awareness. How did you learn to distinguish hunger and fullness from misusing food and urges to binge?

    • @YvesyM
      @YvesyM  Před 7 lety

      Punk Kimono yes, I believe that holding out and teasing those minutes out is where you can accumulate power :) You have to be very mindful of your success in holding out and be SUPER happy with yourself and out over-emphasis on these sort of achievements no matter how small. distinguishing normal hunger cues is another story... to be honest for years I ate portions I was taught to eat in hospital and switched off from my body. and to this day I can get full quickly and have a bad stomach etc. so, a lot of the time i choose to eat what I should vs what I think I want...unless I'm pretty certain I'm very hungry or very full etc. I know that mightn't be that helpful for u though... xxx

    There is very little help for people suffering heating disorders. If you are overweighted, the first answer from Google is surgery. Eating disorder is a mental disorder, an addiction. How come there isnt a talking circle in every city?

    • @YvesyM
      @YvesyM  Před 3 lety

      there should be support groups EVERYWHERE. i would encourage you to reach out on social media and do more research. being overweight has nothing got to do with how unwell you are and the majority of people understand this. reach out, get help -you fucking deserve it!!!
