Karan Johar is ruining his own legacy. He made huge fan favs like KKHH and K3G which had many aspects that made them iconic. Now with his recent films, he's reusing the same tropes, dialogues, ideas, etc over and over again that it's not iconic anymore. Had he created different films, kinda like he did with My Name is Khan, and launched actors who could actually act, he may have been more successful, and the audience would have valued him much more.

The problem with Karan Johar is that he is listening to the wrong people (Rajeev Masand, Rahul Desai, Sucharita Tyagi etc.). As a result, he made an absolute abomination like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani which was filled with woke activism.

We are all unique , so is karan in a way. His orientation , smartness & maturity makes him special. He never planned to become a filmmaker , but it was planned by universe. Everything happened with him in childhood are similarly responsible for shaping him as an expert director. His visions are not bad , infact superior & different. Thats why he became successful. Its all natures plan. But karan should maintain a level. If je destroys someone's career , then thats unacceptable. But he is very deep , unapologetic & sensible about his life & decisions .... He deserves his place in bollywood 😊 .

I don't think I have right to judge action of a person like Karan Johar. I remember you reading his story from his own book- which itself explains his hardship that he might have gone through. Furthermore, the feelings one bottles up in their heart makes things difficult. I believe the feeling of being bullied in his childhood actually made his respond him the way you mentioned his "darkside" . As I read it somewhere, there is no good or bad - it's all about what is more beneficial, satisfing to one person. And I guess the childhood that he got , is giving it back to the world. I also remember you mentioning that there was a point where his own mother had lost hope in him in the career of movies. This is one point (I think)which made him grow to this extent where he can say he is the only hope in movies in India.

I totally get where KJo is coming from. While most celebrities try to keep their personal life and thoughts personal thoughts personal, kjo gives a glimpse into his. I have no issues if he just wants to launche star kids, or work only with industry insiders. That's his choice.

He has used this to give advantage to nep kids and create obstacles for outsiders. He has schemed against others. He also made sure nepo kids got all the underserving awards. He made sure undeserving nepo kids got all the international brand deals. Because of his PR strategy social media is always pushing nepo kids photos, brand deals, holidays and movies to the public. We see them all the time despite several flops or no films like Jhanvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Suhana Khan etc.
The reality is that if Karan Johar existed in 50s,60s and and 70s. He wouldn't have let Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Sanjiv Kuma etc exist. If Yash Chopra wasn't backing Shah Rukh Khan in the 90s, Karan Johar would have destroyed SRK's career also.
