- History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 23: Herm Lewis turned his life around from being a street hustler and addict in San Francisco's notorious Hunters Point neighborhood to running his own record label and becoming a motivational speaker. His first compilation, "Trying to Survive in the Ghetto," is a landmark release for San Francisco hip-hop, featuring artists like RBL Posse, Rappin 4-Tay, Cougnut, JT the Bigga Figga and more. In this interview Herm explains how he went from a drug dealer to drug user and turned his life around after a stint in prison. Since then, he's put out several successful compilations and continues to be relevant by speaking on some of Larry June's recent albums.

Great interview. It's nice to hear more about Uncle Herm's history and it's also very interesting to learn that he had attended Mission High as well bc I had too but for just a short while in 91, after my graduation from Francisco Middle School. Thanks and your work is much appreciated DregsOne💯👊🏽👍🏽

Mr Herm Louis
I really wouldn't call him a hype man well he was more of a serious height man but he also had his own label as well too and he was a hustler and a businessman but I would mostly call him more like a not like a conscience political man either but I will call him like an incredible spokesman.
He was like the best speaker of all talking of people's records and also even though he's not a rapper but he was kind of like similar to what puffy was and what Luke Campbell was like doing the talk and he was the best talker of all rappers music.
💯🎤🤙😎
RIP Rock Bottom Records
