Don’t make this as a standard check blindly . Every car shape , bonnet length seating positions are different . So just checking the rear view mirror to find exactly distance is not a tight approach .
You can test for different car sizes/ models and see what works for driving parallel to a sidewalk and parking. Try experimenting lining up to the curb by first lining up to the middle of your dashboard, go outside the car and observe and keep experimenting with lining up a few millimeters closer to your driving wheel tighter lines until you find what works. If you want you can chalk that area of your car. Same goes for lining up your rear view mirror and behind a car.
Want to know how he actually did it? Cut out the audio of the person screaming stop. Honestly this advice is fine, but if you follow these rules to the teeth with every single car. You will bump one eventually because every car is different.
when the front tires bounces back, it means you've hit the gutter and you should be fine 😂 We have a standard height for gutters here in our country that every car's front bumper would not hit it unless you have it altered/lowered.
I have 360 degree camera with birds eye view along with parking sensors. I can park even 5 mm away from an object like a piece of cake. Technology rocks.
Me 2 Journey, ur not alone, I've been driving over 35 yrs & took drivers education & and learned from watching others 2, but never knew of tips & tricks like this, it makes me want to go out n try but some people might think, I dk how 2 drive 😂 Idc Im going 2 do it. We're n this 2gether.. 🙏👍
In Adelaide South Australia we should be able to see the rear wheels where they meet the ground is safe stopping area . If you have a different model car use this as a rough guide .
Its of no use to SUV owners 245 Ground Clearance and 18 or 22 inch tyres can easily Cross over it. Its informative for low Ground clearance and low approach angle cars
If your talking about the parallel parking one where he calls the side view mirror a rear view mirror it’s about lining up the mirror with the curb so you don’t scratch your wheels etc.
Technically, you're supposed to see their tires just below the bumper, lots of cars and trucks have different heights but if you focus on the bottom of the bumper and tire, you'll always be pretty much the same exact distance from every car you pull up behind
Every car is different in shape and size…

Man that really helped my parents thanks man
I think it really depends on how you have the driver’s seat adjusted. Everyone is a different height, etc.
😮😮😮😊😊😅
exactly, I use my mom's car so the seat adjustment changes everytime. The only way is to use side view mirror pointed slight down
That’s a side view mirror not a rear view ok horse? Great translation Toby.
Hey Hoss, technically it's still a rear view mirror
It's actually orvm outside rearview mirror
This was translated from chinese to english lol
As a new driver who struggles with parking, I thank you

This will depend on the car, its length and height, seat adjustment, drivers height, etc.

You're supposed to stop behind a car at a stop sign or light where you can see the concrete under the car in front of you.
Technically, you're supposed to see their tires just below the bumper, lots of cars and trucks have different heights but if you focus on the bottom of the bumper and tire, you'll always be pretty much the same exact distance from every car you pull up behind

On the BMW M4 the front apron would be on the pavement, I think. Does the seat height or the viewing angle of the windshield wiper matter?
Meanwhile there are a few dozen cars he damaged figuring this out.
