I hit my side mirror because i wasnt slow enough and i felt squeezed by two vehicles. The good thing is nobody got hurt and i only broke the glass case of the lights in my side mirror.. i learned from this to never squeeze if i think that i cant go through. Always approach tight spaces with caution and slowly. Thank you so much

Even though I've had my license for almost two years now, I still love to watch and learn from your videos. When I saw the topic, I instantly thought of a situation I hate: drivers who stop at a light and take up two lanes. Typically I just do as you suggested and stay a few feet behind.
A general 'rule':
3 foot from parked car = 30mph
2 foot from parked car = Max 20mph
1 foot from parked car = Max 10mph
Less than 1 foot from parked car = Avoid going through where possible, if you do need to go through travel at 1mph looking towards the mirrors to get your fine judgement. If in doubt don't go through.

Recently clipped my entire mirror off going through a street because someone opened their door while I was going through. Left me with claustrophobia in these types of scenarios and unsure of my driving ability (Had license for 4 years only driving for around 7 months or so). I’ve Been trying to find videos that help with this to no avail, but this video seriously helped me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart man!

Very useful video. Even for me living in the usa. I know the road tests are different in canada as opposed to usa. Alot or about most of this is applies in the usa and is very helpful in that regard. Good and useful video . . . However, for following distance you might or should use length in feet or car lengths instead of seconds. Although, the two second rule can work just not for everyone but I say if you cant see big or large amount of the street or road behind the moving vehicle in front of you then you are probably following them a bit too close. Also you could use the parked vehicles to the side or broken lane marking to determine how far or how close you are to the vehicle in front of you.
Using following distance in feet or car lengths makes no sense because it depends on speed. By using seconds, it adapts to speed. Check my "How To Change Lanes" video for an explanation on that.
@@ConduiteFacile . . . car lengths makes sense to me. I do agree it depends on speed. I will stick to my method . . . I estimate that it you should be no less than car or two car lengths. Also, could you do a video on how to judge your road position?.

This channel can help you very much, some rules are not the same however you can also take a look at other channels from Sweden. There's many of them. Then you can shift between this channel and the other channels. Good luck.
GLaDOS +1. I can't know every rule from every single place on earth. Sometimes even from city to city in the same state/province/country rules change. You can also Google "Driving Laws" followed by the name of the place where you're driving. Usually this is info that will be online. Just keep in mind that in most countries that have states/provinces, the laws are established by those states/provinces instead of the country itself. So you might want to use the name of your province in that search if that's the case.
@@ConduiteFacile Yes, i live in Sweden as well i used your channel on how to become a better driver. for example How to make tight turns or how to better parallel park, and then used other channels for driving laws. Helped me very much. No matter where you live some of your videos are still helpful in any country.

I don’t worry too much about knowing where their rear light should be, etc. Too much to remember. If you know your vehicle and are confident, you should just know how close to be as you’re driving up. It’s pretty simple
How to overcome the fear of hitting other vehicles.?I am having difficulty of judging the safe distance while passing a road side stopped vehicles. My driving instructor is always scolding and shouting and It makes me much nervous. Some times I feel like to give up my driving lessons. But watching your videos makes me to learn the defensive driving skills. I wish I could able to find a patients driving instructor in Toronto area.
Watch plenty of videos on CZcams over and over again. Take note of the important points and clear your doubts. Next time you drive, go slow and execute what you have learned. Tune out your driving instructor. Mine sucked ass too, so I made it a point to do my own thing and ignore him completely. My driving improved by leaps and bounds next time I sat behind the wheel :)

A few hours ago I hit my house's gate while backing up from the yard, cause I was in a hurry and the car was shaking a bit so I was looking at the RPM gauge instead of back, it is a little scratch but my father will be very angry when he see it, hopefully this will never happen again, I learnt my lesson.
What about polishing it? The scratch may be fixed and the costs aren't too high. Depending on the lenght, width and depth of the scratch

When you apply brake the car should not roll backwards. Are you sure you are applying enough brake? Do you drive manual or automatic? On a manual car you can do it in multiple ways, can use the handbrake to keep the car from rolling. Then when you reach the biting point you can release the handbrake while applying gas. You can do the same with the brake.

It depends a lot on your brakes; Age, sensitivity, mechanical shape and so on. I'll do one on that.
Release the gas pedal before you approach the place where you want to stop, press the brake pedal lightly until you feel it slows down, press harder and keep your foot as is when you feel that it will feel uncomfortable, when you are almost stopped, release tge brake pedal a bit so it doesn't make you jump, keep practicing until you get it, it will take some time and you will be better and better over time.
Note: if it's an emergency press hard no matter if it will feel uncomfortable or not, but don't lock your brakes.

I'm really trying to determine the right distance and the right timing but it's really hard for me. And my brother - who is training me to drive- keeps telling me that I must figure it out and that l keep on making the same mistakes. I gave up today, decided not to keep practicing 😔
You tell your brother to stand outside and guide you while parking. So he will stand on the right corner and you reverse and drive up to him with the corner (headlights) right near his feet so that it doesn't touch him. Practice that 10 to 20 times, you will get an average idea. Making sure your seating position is perfectly set up. After that you can get the cones that they use for road construction hazard warning, and place them in tight spots in an open field and your work will be to drive though it and park accordingly. Keep the cones really tight. So in that case you will learn easily how much your car's right corner distance is. Do at day time with all windows open so it becomes easy to do it. Tell you brother to stand outside and guide you most of the times. Am learning that way and it helped.

I was like you when I started, you just need your brother to tell you if it is safe from his side, if so look to the car to his side and make reference points so when you are driving alone you will figure it out, I prefer to practic on a cheap car and not to drive very close from expensive cars so in case you made a slight mistake it will not be that bad.
Note: driving is always hard for most people at the first few months of driving.

Mybfather was like when he taught me to drive, as far as I know, most unpro trainers do that cause they don't get how hard was it when they started to drive, and they don't know how to not panic, it took me more than two years to by a decent driver, though my father still thinks that I don't drive well after 5 years.
