This advice also seems great for a serve. I work on generating more power with legs and hip rotation.

Even though I'm a beginner at pickleball, it's clear that you're a natural teacher. Precise yet simple explanations and instructions are a rarity in any discipline!

Might also mention grip as that is very important.

Yeah, what do you recommend for grip? because Tanner just said yep but didn’t actually give any grip advice

I rise after after I hit the ball, not with it. When I do rise with the ball, it often puts the ball in the net.
I use a semi western grip and the variable of rising simultaneously makes the ball dip even more.

I feel like when I hit it with all this extra power and mementum the ball goes out… Maybe I’m just aiming too high thinking I need to make over the net, I’ll try this while also aiming a bit lower and see the results! 💪😎

Where do you hit the ball? Front, side, close to the body, etc

The million dollar question for me is how much of this applies to topspin semi-aggressive drops.
The guys at my level tend to be really good against hard drives and really good against flat / backspin drops or dinks, but they struggle against tight dippy topspin that rolls around the net tape or dips hard at their feet.
    Thx!

Quang duong hits in an open stance quite often though

I think an open stance is good to recover quicker for the next shot, but may be harder to generate enough power for some. I am guessing what Tanner is teaching is better for the people in general, while pros with high power can adapt their playing style.
John Cincola on youtube talks about open stance being okay too.

It's hard to base an entire video off one specific player that has an extreme grip and stance. These videos are for the general population!

It’s a good habit to hit your drives the way Tanner explains. Too many like cincola are too lazy with footwork and open stance becomes open hips and open shoulders which is a major power leak
