Good stuff
Cute
great advice. what do you think about front foot placement when serving on either side?
Thanks
Your exhaling while hitting is excellent. Sometimes I hold my breath when Iâm trying to hit a good ball. đ
Love your videos. I watched your how to serve vid one morning on the way to rec play and putting it to practice significantly improved my serves! Thank you.
Awesome Vid thanks, Mr.T!!!
tennis player staring to play some pickleball- can someone explain the logic behind the 3rd shot drop? I know theyâre different, but I was always taught not to give up the net in tennis. If you can keep your opponents back, you do. Why in pickleball is it considered advantageous to invite them to the net?
Also a former tennis player (college). You aren't inviting the returners to the net. They are already there because they have the advantage of hitting a deep return that the servers have to let drop which gives gives the returner time to reach the NVZ line. It's why the returners have a large advantage during play.
Ben Johns drops wide. Enough said
Youâre not Ben Johns.
â@tanner.pickleball I mean it could be his burner đđ
what about a little to the middle/right cuz with two righties it ends up being at the backhand of one player and kinda far for the other players forehand. also it might create a little confusion on who should get it.
Love this! Thanks for the reminder Tanner!đ I sent this to my hubby â€
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks Tanner!!!!! I sent this to my mixed doubles partner!
Love it!!
the people i play with still drop wide. this tip doesnt rlly work against players 4.5 and above.
Donât you get ernied though?
I love when players drop wide on me. I get a huge angle to hit a 2 handed topspin backhand. Almost always gets them on the defensive. That being said, I drop wide a lot until they prove they can do the same to me.
Great tip!
Do t teach people nasty shots
Chill bro
This is very interesting. I have always dropped to the far side playerâs backhand because across the court is farther and you are generally hitting to their weaker side. The points you make sense. I just worry that if you donât hit the perfect drop, they will step back and destroy a forehand off the bounce at you. Only one way to know, try it nice time I play. It seems like you and other pro players are dropping and dinking to the middle much more. Itâs about time the middle of the court gets the respect it deserves đ
Thanks Tanner
Thx Tanner. Iâve gone from dropping side backhand as the default to middle. For some reason it was mentally difficult to do but for the reasons you outline itâs been a good thing. Plus the net is lower.
I'm surprised so many people disagree. This concept has been around for a while and is widely used in upper level play. Particularly when the ball is to one side or the other. Less clear when the ball is in the middle to start with. But it's a good framework.
Any advice for the one handed backhand players? Use to play tennis so my one handed backhand is really important to me đ
I tried it and it went flying đ
Unless I'm playing retired people
I try to drive through the ball when I serve, unfortunately it usually turns into me being too far into the court and being on my heels trying to hit a third shot drop on a deep return. And when I back up to start it usually negates any extra power I am generating. Thoughts?
When the ball is moving very fast, sometimes the only thing you can do is hold up your paddle like a crucifix and pray. Because timing that flick with a fast moving ball is very difficult.
I can serve very powerfully when playing outside with x40âs but when I play indoor I canât keep good pace without serving deep đ
Another awesome vid dude! Question: when you serve from the opposite side of the example, do you just point your toe to the opposite post? Or where do you like to point it?
Thanks, opposite side, I am more straight, just try and simulate that same angle.
Have been working on making my serve more powerful. Itâs been successful so far, but these tips will help me fine tune. Thanks!
Wow!!! Great advice again!!! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Hi Tanner, I'm a beginner and really struggle with knowing what to do when my partner returns and DOES NOT run to kitchen, either because they don't know better or playing defense after popping it up. Should I stay back and hang with them until we get a good reset, or do I just gun it for the kitchen and aggressively poach balls when possible until they meet me at kitchen line? This keeps happening in both open play and league. Thanks
Always go to the net! They are unaware of very basic strategy, you should ALWAYS run to the line!!
I think I make all 3 mistakes đł Thanks for the tips!
You're so welcome!
Drop serve should be new rule. So many people serve illegally from side and at hip. Tanner has a good, underhand serve.
Agree!!
You sounds so old
â@@teeqz_raiderfneveryone is old to a middle schooler
@@michaelmcclusk3y1 what person uses a drop serve unless they're old and I the old people I see use the the drop serve with a bowling motion I bet your one of those people
Gonna be trying this tomorrow am.
:)
Great instructions
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome Vid thanks, Mr.T!!
Glad you liked it!

Ahhh, paddle up and snap down. I was definatley pushing. Add another skill from Tanner to work on!
Love it!!
Whatâs the difference between the flick and the roll?
Flick is aggressive at the net, roll is when theyâre back from lower heights.
do you have racquet sports experience?
Tennis in high school

Awesome thanx
Canât tell you how much my pickleball IQ has gone up because of your videos. Iâm still ironing out my mechanics, but the game makes SO much more sense to me now. It has made the game far more enjoyable for me. I hope sponsors flood your channel- you deserve it! Congrats on 4th in a pro tournament. Been a pleasure to watch your rise
Thanks so much J, such a nice comment :)
Been trying out the drop and dink middle tips. My only question is that these shots don't feel very aggressive or like they are forcing opponents into awkward shots. Is the idea that we use them because they are safe shots and we wait for that mess up from the opponents to THEN hit that winner aggressive wide dink or smash? Great videos, keep it up.
Exactly it, though it is safe and not aggressive, that is what you should be doing! It is not about winning on a dink, it is about getting a popup on a dink!
Youâre the best! đ
sweet tips thanks
:)
