A Booming Good Day Relic Hunting!

- On this hunt I find a bunch of Civil War relics to include an exploded musket barrel. Two of the three artillery shells I find were fully exposed and I saw them long before I got near them with a metal detector. I also give out a few tips on water hunting.

You are truly the Bob Ross of metal detecting. Happy little bullets :) .
I like how you bring your viewers into the experience like as if they are right there with you. Neat technique plus you have waaay since lost any shyness on camera. Good man. No wonder your at 3/4 million subs!
I am always amazed when in the rare occasions you find old coins and relics either very shallow or laying right on the surface. It has happened to me several times but the ones that come to mind is a Merc buried less than a inch in front of a park bench, IHP laying right on the surface at a old fairground and a 1909 wheatie I thought was a shallow zinc penny... Crazy
I've found 2 Guilford type points( native american arrowheads/spearheads) old enough they may have been used to hunt mastodon, or mammoths etc. Both "presented themselves" to me right on the surface, at eye level. I'm usually on the edge of the creek, in the water, by the bank watching new washout. Both times, I looked up and each point was straight in front of my face. THOUSANDS or years old, just sitting like they never moved from the day they were dropped, lost etc. 2 different locations as well. My father and I also eyeballed a 12lb solid shot cannon ball and 2 minie balls from a local civil war battle in a crack in some rocks in the river. No dirt covering them at all! Just reached down and picked them right up, lol. Its amazing when you find history so close to the surface.

Hi Beau, I'm 73 and in bad health but really enjoy your videos .we don't have bedrock down here in louisiana , but enjoy watching you ,I worked on the tennesse river and the cumberland always wanted to check our some of those creeks.Simpson Kemp
thanks for getting the 'lead' out of the water. and cleaning the creeks.
Your hunts are always OUTSTANDING.....up to your discriminator in a muddy creek. The stuff of dreams! Thanks soooooo much.
Mr.Oimette, you are habit forming!

Great video and congratulations on the shells. That is the problem I get here trash down 7 feet in the banks and mud bottoms. Very few places were the cobbles or limestone come up. Why I hunt mostly crossings. I am going to try and readjust my hunts on some smaller creeks. You would recognize the name of the creek I mostly hunt. Thanks for sharing. Storms here today. HH and stay safe!
i can't stop watching your video's it's 4.30 in the morning. lol.
It's 4:30 AM for me now and I can't stop watching his vids too. lmao
I'm having this exact same problem, past THREE night!
SWEEEEEEEEEET hunt my friend!!!! Just goes to show you that believe it or not there ARE unsearched areas around. What a great day, and if you went anytime in the last week(it was stinking hot up here in gburg), I'm sure it was quite refreshing to be in the water. God bless and keep um coming!
Beau loved the video! Those shells sitting there since the Civil War was surprising. I guess they were hidden in plain sight. You would think some fisherman would have picked them up.
I always find these kind of videos fascinating. They are amateur archeological digs but the results are amazing. Thanks!
Beau, all I can say is congratulations! You have made some amazing finds over the last couple of awesome videos! Wishing you the Best of Luck!
Man great fiends, I found a percussion cap and part of a shoulder scale this weekend haha.
Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures!
Always very informative and entertaining.
Man you have me fired up to do some civil war relic hunting. I live in SW Missouri. The battle of Carthage was fought not to far from here. That barrel you found looks like an old Stevens 12ga shot gun 1913 pat. date. Love your videos!!!
ok I got my magnet and rope. I'm hooked.
I can't get enough of this stuff. Keep up the amazing work!
Starting at 15:00 i believe you may have found an old trappers wrench.Just found your videos last night and really enjoying them.
Good day for you my friend, happy for you, 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video once again Beau!! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures.
dear beau I just wanna say thank you.. you are the one that got me into water detecting. I am your biggest fan lol I can watch your videos over and over and they never get old not only do you show some really cool relics but you also show the beauty of the land and I have learned a lot of things from you from how to dig what to use and just the fun of metal detecting. so thank you again and if you ever want to adopt I am 27 so I come ready to go no need for the taking care of part lol. I really would love to get the chance to meet you and detect with you one day.. although I have found nothing near what you find and I just got into detecting 3 years ago but watching your videos are awesome and really educational. ohh and by the way I don't live to far from you lol. no im not stalking you I work with an older guy named bill sorry don't know his last name but he said he has detected with you in the past once or twice he said his friend mike knows you pretty well.. well take care and good luck happy hunting. Ryan...
yes beau they are from that area thanks for responding look forward to meeting you one day take care..
You sure have trained eyes! But I'm trying. Thanks for taking us along!
You should test out underwater flashlights. That would be interesting.
+Brendan Bullock
It is in the Sinkers video @9:28 mark. Beau says its weird as it's "ringing up high, like a coin". Seems like his VDI was reading 81 and higher.
It's laying there, waiting....Beau knows he can get it but he's just toying with me and all the others who want to see the gold coin that's under that rock.....more prozac please.....
W.
Great hunt Beau!! I always look forward to your videos...
Your inspiring to watch Beau! Love the videos, keep 'em coming
Those shells are to die for!
great video great finds makes a fantastic through out
Hey Beau great video as usual, an I know the cloudiness of the water isn't that great for videos, but it is actually more authentic so newer people that get into the hobby know that not every day out on the water is going to be clear and you can see the bottom. I think we need to see that sometimes, but don't do it too often LOL. Once again Beau you are an inspiration and you and the 2 nuts from New England (Bill and HH, Dig Fellas) got me re-interested in the hobby thanks again.
An absolutely fantastic video. I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you sir.
Nice shell..been sitting there for 152or so years .. amazing..you have good research and hunt skills that's where I lack..I go to get what guys miss.
“Let’s go underwater” proceeds to take a deep breath. 😂 love your videos can’t wait to go out and find creeks to swing here in NW PA
Good video as always Beau. Good finds.
I just started watching your videos. Very entertaining! Finding those civil war ammunition shells was very cool. Just amazing you found them just laying around like someone put them there.
I look forward to seeing your collection again soon :-)
Thanks for the video
Very nice vid Beau, it amazes me when you find hem shells laying right out in the open like that! What a killer season you are having. Aug. and September have been very good to you!
AMAZING!!!! as always!!
You find bullets like I find nails and pop tabs. I’m new to this tho so hopefully soon I’ll find something cool
I really enjoy these water hunts you do. I bet not many people think to hunt in the water.
I think I am addicted to your videos😂😂👍🏻
Request; Could you do a video where you have a piece of gold, silver, lead, iron, tin, aluminumumnuinim, pewter, etc so the uninitiated (like me) can hear the differences that you've come to recognize between metals?
Very nice hunt congrats on the 3 shells really nice, have an amazing day Karla
Seriously cool finds beau
You inspired me to buy an AT Pro 2 years ago while watching your silver coin spill video. I live in western NC and would love to detect in places like you do. I can't wait to get to Oak Island in 2 weeks to detect some ocean front.
***** I've detected a plantation home in Rutherford County but didn't really turn up anything of the era. Good Hunting!!
Nice finds! Great video!
Congrats, great video!
thanks buddy! like the vids! i live in fl. near the st. johns river, i found a single shot rifle of large cal. hard to i.d. it, while pulling in my anchor! old as hell ,so i saved it!
Oops. Sorry spoke too soon. Got a glimpse right at the end. Made my day hahaha. Love your videos man. Still have your electrolosis vid in my mind when you were cleaning and coating with wax or some such thing. Must watch it again. Cheers on a great hunt.
Great Hunt!

Great video and Awesome finds,
Great video cool finds!
Hi Beau, Great finds!!! nice video..cheers,G:)
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
great finds again beau nice shells mate :-)
Awesome video man...=) Take care and keep hunting..
Nice hunt, I agree with what you said about blazing your own trail. Never have I tore it up on a camp someone told me about. Camps I researched on my own however....
My Daughter lives in a 1740's house and I live in a 1790's house. Both in New Hampshire . I think I should buy a metal detector !!!!!!
I would have already hit that property so hard, lol. You will not make ANY mess with just a little practice and care. Ive dug up historic properties like you wouldn't believe, and when I walked away... you couldn't see a single sign of any of my digging. If you do detect, film and post it for sure!

Excellent day.
Great video as always gotta love them bullets and shells and guns. I have some buttons that have been in the water/mud for over 150 years but I can't get them clean enough to make anything out. So I keep searching for a good one to help date the area I'm searching.
Do you have Facebook acct
Beau, the reason that sinker had China on it was because the gov't forced the closure of the last lead smelting plant in the US. Now we only have secondary smelters operating where they recycle lead from batteries etc. Really ironic that the gov't said we're doing it too "dirty" here, and now we're getting anything lead from the world's worst violator for pollution. ; )
That's a possibility, but I doubt that they stamped china into every mold cavity. Most of the molds I've seen are for multiple sinkers for each pour. Guess it could be just a single mold though. Thanks for all you do, I'm now on my 3rd pass through all your videos and learning more each time. ; )
That mule shoe is awsome.i love the small shoes..I collect the ones I find I love em I've only found six shoes ever
slash is a real choad......these videos rock
Nice finds - love the under water videos - Sisters History Detectorists
Nice hunt Beau!
Really nice video beau:)
love your vids
GOOD ONE SIR
Really like your videos
I watched the video of you knocking the worst of the caked on crust from some shells you found. Any time frame on when you show what they look like after the electrolysis? Great finds again on this video! It is mighty amazing those shells have lain there in the creek (river?) for all these years, and so close to civilization. Even the folks that owned that land should have had family legends about the 'battle' that raged on their land during the Civil War! Great job, sir!
***** looking forward to seeing them. I Live in central Missouri and plan on getting a garret at gold. My home town had a civil war camp for a couple years and a good sized river next too it. I hope to maybe find some water relics like yours some day :) love all your videos. Keep em comin'
*****
Does putting them through electrolysis do anything to the value of the shells?
Hmsmelbourelastrip
18.54 seen alot of brass staples on phone poles. They used them for the ground wire. Now I am talking about when telegraph/phone lines had the collectable colored glass insulators.
So happy I saw this in my sub box
You should do a video tour of the stuff you found through out the summer and fall. It would be epic I love watching you find the things you dig up. My uncle is taking me to a park where they trained ww2 soilders and it also used to be a camp site he found a German madalian when he younger. So I can't wait to go. So keep up on the videos and may by if I find something interesting I do a video response I have a bounty hunter tracker iv.
Great video :-D
LOL at gold tooth!
wow man you have no idea how much I would love to find 1 of those shells or a cannonball!!!!!!!!!! that barrel was crazy!! at least they were long and pry didn't injure whoever was firing it! and don't you know it cheaper to buy everything from china!! that's why America has no middle class just rich and poor hell the "poor" people cant even afford mcds anymore my wife took the 2 youngest for breakfast 1 big breakfast and 1 sandwich 11$ no more of that!!!!!!! anyway great finds man HH.....GL
Dang Chigg, I about drown. ...forgot to hold my breath.
Congrats on the Artillery Shell & Bullets!!
I was hoping you were going to pull out that old beaver tail can that was sitting just above the old tire.
W.
Ps. On medication waiting now... for you to return and blast that damned gold coin under that little river rock....LOL!!!
*****
Interested in this coin... which vid is that in? Would love to see it! And curious as to why you couldn't recover it!
Lucky? ..... "Chance favors the prepared"
I like ur videos !!!!
Beau, I just discovered your channel. I have never done any metal detecting and never really even thought about it before seeing your videos. You have thrown me into motion though! I am trying to figure out a good setup for a beginner. Something that isn't over complicated, but also won't miss a lot of stuff in the ground. Do you have any good resources I could read over what machine would work best for me?
I have a ton of rivers by me where I could find hopefully some stuff people have lost ( I live in the Pacific Northwest so only real relics would be Native American ones). You have a great personality for a youtube channel. I can see why you have so many followers. Your commentary is hilarious and I love that you apologize for things that are completely out of your control (for instance in this video you apologize for the wind noise). Keep it up, you are by far one of my favorite new youtube channels I have discovered!
Thanks Beau! Sorry for my delayed response. I think I have honestly watched 90% of your videos. You really have a great personality for this. Half the time I don't even watch the video, I just listen to what you say while I work. I will definitely have to check out the areas around here. Hopefully will get a Garrett here soon! Keep searching for those relics!
Freaking awesome! Rk.
Thanks
liked the hunt, no bottles or a lot of modern trash.
love it! you get so lucky with those shells too! how many did that put you up to for the season? wish i lived in a place that has sites like that.i'll be putting my order in this week for my new metal detector and let me tell you i am so excited! my boyfriends family owns some land that has an old wagon trail through it... even if all i find is horse tack and wagon parts i'll be a happy camper. love you video's beau, can't wait for the next one!
A small polarizing filter on the camera lens would cut out reflections from the water.
I missed these sort of videos so much! Oh wow I thought this was new video lol
Been watching your stuff for years, Chigg and I always come back to re-watch your vids. Maybe I’m seeing things but at 7:51 in the vid right after to take your finger to get that lead sinker, there appears to be a bullet behind it. Maybe it’s the bedrock though... but it sure looks liked the rings on a Minié Ball.
BA BOOM BABY!
nice long vid great probally a lot of work to make thanks
btw for my birthday im gonna get the garret ace 250 and some other gear and start detecting too
i hope you dont mind but i got the guys at the VA watching your channel while we are in the waiting room in fact the other day when i showed up 2 out of 3 monitors playing your channel it was cool 2 different shows playing same time
Awesome video and finds Beau! About the chinese sinkers, well, some of the molds we run at my shop have chinese writing on the parts even though they're made here. It's possible they're a chinese brand but are manufactured here.
Who knows though!
man i thought that snapper was gonna get ya for a minute lol
yes
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice video
Hold your breath 😆
Mr. Chigger, I must respectfully disagree about your statement that, "If you are kayaking along, eyeballing and see a cannon ball... it isn't one, just keep going." My father and I were doing just that, looking on the banks for an old bottle dump we have heard of. My dad was floating in the middle of the river and yelled,"I found a D@₩& cannonball!" Low and behold, we pulled a 12 lb solid shot cannonball from the battle of " ", in our town. Only the second known to exist in collections.. We spent a few minutes more before the current pulled us down and also found 2 dropped minie balls. So, I VERY RESPECTFULLY, Must disagree with that statement. Let's say 99% of the time those kayaking eyeballers who see cannonballs are wrong. But, there is the possibility, I have seen it happen and was involved in the recovery in just the EXACT situation you mentioned. What a hunt this was though on your video, I'd give my up one of my rifles to detect a spot like that boy, haha. Dang! Too fun. Felt like I was right there with ya! Keep hunting sir, and be safe! I'm tuned in for anything you put out, and am still watching your back catalog of vids. Be safe out there! Follow me on Instagram, I posted the cannonball find on my page!
