Crazy Taxi, Crazy Box ~ S-S (Tutorial in Description)

  • Maneuvers necessary:
    Limiter Cut (Let go of Accelerator - Shift into R - Shift into D + Hit Accelerator)
    Crazy Drift (Quickly shift from R to D/Hold R and D and then turn)
    "Go have some fun!" implies the other levels weren't fun. To be fair, some really weren't.
    Ironically the last level is one of the easiest if you... happen to have the skills necessary to unlock it in the first place. This level is impossible without Limiter Cut, but very easy with it. Crazy Drift is optional but it'll help in some places. Just race through the Arcade level as fast as you can and complete a lap. The map is more or less shaped like an urban racing track and every road will eventually converge on the same path, so even if you do not know the map by heart, there are not many opportunities to get lost, anyway. Some general tips for the level:
    - Avoid traffic (obviously)
    - Drive on the cable car tracks in the hills right after you start the level because it'll never have traffic, but do be careful with the cable car itself.
    - After the Church, go up the hill through the grass rather than the road.
    - Between the Heliport and the R.B. Station, Crazy Drift into the parking lot out of the hill to save time.
    - Grind into the oncoming lane on the left on the highway past the Baseball Stadium to cut the turn as much as possible and avoid traffic.
    - Do not go through the mall, it's a longer path.

    The Steam Achievement for clearing S-S is a 2%.
    To be fair most people (and even me when I was little) lost patience at 1-S. SEGA really decided to make Crazy Box one of the hardest things they’ve ever made.

    This technique feels impossible on the steam version. My left hand is out for the night after about a half hour of tries.

    Great help! Do you not recommend going through the parking lot at 0.54?

      And also should I not take the turning on the left followed by the slip road to the right at 1.02? I was under the impression it was faster..

      @FamilyTeamGaming  Před 3 lety +5

      I think staying at street level is slightly faster, but I never really "speedran" this one to really know. I do think it's more consistent, though, the parking lot has a lot of cars that can get in the way.

    Doesn’t work in the iPad version. You have to let off the accelerator, double tap the reverse then press the accelerator again and even then it’s iffy. I still managed to unlock the tricycle. 😅 The Dreamcast version is better.

    do you have to be at max speed to initiate the limiter cut? im having the same issue as the other guy in the comments, but i think its timing and maybe not being at max speed when trying to do it.

    • @FamilyTeamGaming
      @FamilyTeamGaming  Před 4 lety +3

      No, you can do it from a stop, even (you can see me doing it at the very start). What you can't do is spam it, because when you manage to do one, you can only do the next one so soon after your last one.
      It probably really is the timing. One good way to practice doing the Limiter Cut is by getting good at doing the Crazy Dash, which is a shortened, easier, but less effective version of it. To do the Crazy Dash, release the gas pedal, press the button to shift into Drive (even if you're already in Drive) and then very shortly after hit the gas pedal. This is what I did for quite a while before getting used to the more complicated version.
      When you get good at doing the Crazy Dash, the Limiter Cut is the same thing, with the added step of shifting into Reverse gear first.

      @@FamilyTeamGaming ah gotcha. yeah i can do the one from the stop, but doing it after has given me some trouble. probably bceause i've been trying to spam it like you mentioned. and ive got the crazy dash down, but i can tell i need to do the Limiter Cut for S-S. the S-S is my last one so im gonna give it another try tonight. thanks for the reply and help. your instructions in the description have been much more helpful than other tutorials i've seen online.

      @@TheKingpinChemist Glad to help you. If you have Crazy Dash down, like I said, Limiter Cut should be the same thing, but you need to input Reverse gear before doing it.

      @@FamilyTeamGaming finally beat S-S, and got 100% achievements on the 360. it took me a minute, but i've finally got Limiter down. its not as quick as i thought. you have to kind of wait. i thought you had to switch gears and hit gas instantaneously, but there's a little delay. not having 100% for it was driving me crazy lol, but now I can get S rank easy. i'm gonna take all this to Crazy Taxi 2 and 3. thanks again

    I can't seem to do limiter cut after limiter cut like you do here. I can only do it following a standard crazy boost! Confused to heck.

    • @FamilyTeamGaming

      You need to wait for your first Limiter Cut to end completely before doing the second one

      @@FamilyTeamGaming Thanks for the quick reply! So do you have to initially do a crazy dash before being able to limiter cut, or can you completely ditch crazy dash? I've seen videos where people are doing crazy box runs and they are almost constantly flicking into reverse and back to drive and going at insane speeds, so now i'm even more confused. lol

    • @FamilyTeamGaming
      @FamilyTeamGaming  Před 3 lety +2

      @@mr2nut123 You can just use Limiter Cuts if you are so inclined. The better you get at them, the faster you can chain them together. You can do them pretty fast one after another when you're good, but you can't spam it because it won't work.

    • @mr2nut123
      @mr2nut123 Před 3 lety

      @@FamilyTeamGaming I just figured it out. It's a very precise timing and I find that doing the shift into reverse then into drive, is better done quite slow. I was going to fast with it. Also, pressing drive slightly before accelerate is key :)

      Brake? Are you sure you're not hitting the wrong pedal?
      Release the accelerator. Then, shift into Reverse gear. After that, shift back into Drive gear and hit the accelerator. It sounds a little awkward to explain, but that is how it goes.
