- In this highly educational episode from the past, host Colin McKeown joins noted authors Kelly Galloup and Bob Linsenman to learn effective techniques for using streamers to catch huge trout. They are the authors of the classic book: Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout. If you want to learn more about streamer fishing, then this is a "must watch" video!

A lot of what's happening today with streamer fishing started with these guys. Good stuff!
+Fly Fish the Mitt Other guys were doing it or stuff pretty similar, but Kelly was the best at marketing it and bringing it to the masses. Guys like Scott Sanchez come to mind.
totally, 100%
AT thirteen minutes you can see a really young Russ Maddin rowing bob in drift boat with a giant smile on his face! Freaking legends
Wow young buck Gallup,
Have you guys ever targeted large brook trout with large streamers before?
It would be interesting to i think a lot of brook trout anglers are probably curious as well.
Yes we have in Labrador and Northern Ontario. Perhaps a future video, thanks for feedback
Can these streamer be used in lake ontario or lake erie by the mouth? Thanks
Absolutely and they are deadly!
Is that a young Russ Maddin @16:21?
What is that black streamer called at 4:31 ?
It is a black weighted sculpin pattern. These work well in black, olive and yellow. Not sure what Kelly calls them but here is a similar pattern: www.reelflies.com/Olive_Yellow_Eye_Sculpin_p/olive-yellow-eye-sculpin.htm
you want to check that XP Sage again, its not a 906-4, its a 609-4.
What a narcissist, you have to be so much fun to live with.
Ironic how the vid is about catching large trout with streamers but only small fish are cooperating! Isn't that just how it goes sometimes.
Definitely the way it happens sometimes but we have also had enormous success moving big trout with streamers when conditions are right.
Why is it that trout often hit the streamer on the swing? It doesn’t seem like a realistic presentation. I’ve been experimenting with quartering upstream and then putting in a down stream mend in order to swim the steamer down stream like how a minnow behaves. I haven’t been having much luck this way and usually resort back to dead drifting or swinging which works great. My home river is a tail water.
good point. not sure why they do hit streamers on a swing...but the techniques in this video and the one you mentioned all work as well
these are the same technique and flies bass fly fishermen have used forever.
certainly they are similar, but there are significant differences.
According to kelly Gallop in his new book they are just about the same.
I like turtles
I didn't see any large fish caught
Then catch your own, IF you can.
matthew giacobbe You’re very observant.
