Great news! If you make a purchase on amazon after clicking a link above, the price wont change and my channel earns a small affiliate commission from amazon. Doesn’t even have to be the item you clicked on either 👍
Hi, that’s 1930’s integrated architecture and that unit is a “dirty laundry hamper” ! The top has a pull button to drop your dirties, has vents (so dirty clothes can breath and avoid increasing smells, damp, mold) and the bottom door opens to empty out your laundry when your ready to sort and do a wash.
Surprising ! These were considered standard bathroom features until the early 60’s.
Thanks for jogging my memory on the laundry chute!! We lived in a large house that had one when I was in fifth grade!! Except ours was flush with the wall and had a round knob you pulled to open & just drop clothes in!
Yep. When I was a kid all the apartments had them.
Also, you have to pry them open when you first get the apartment because they always paint them closed. 😆🤷🏽♀️
So cool. It reminds me of an apartment I once lived in that had a little door between the kitchen and the outside hallway that opened in both directions. It was for milk deliveries oh so long ago! (Of course now it might be a security issue although it was pretty small for anyone to crawl through anyway.)
Very cool ty for info
The white thing in the bath room is a laundry hamper. Old Queens apartments have that (mine too). I use the space to keep cleaning kits :) This studio is a steal deal!
Yep. I pulled mine out and installed recessed shelves. Great low profile storage.
I had one when I lived in Brooklyn. My bathroom was almost identical to this one, the only difference is the tiles were pink.
Why you singling out “all old queens”? 😂
I'm an old queen, and I don't have one. I feel left out.
@@deannaharper9160 Yep. extra t.p., cleaners, rolled hand towels, etc. all fit nicely.
Astoria prices had gotten ridiculously high in recent years with the influx of out-of-towners. This is a great and spacious apartment at a crazy low price. Really speaks to the mass exodus. If I were younger and looking for a place I'd definitely snatch it up.
that was the price of a 2 bedroom there in 2005
250 sqft is spacious 🤔
@prettysubliminals2555 damn... you live like rats fr
I know it’s the homeowner in me but I can’t imagine having to go elsewhere to do my laundry anymore. I’m thinking of the dead of winter when it’s snowing/sleeting for days and you have to lug your clothes/bedding outside through that to hopefully get enough machines available so you can do everything at once. Just to lug all your clean and dry clothes back through the elements. If I’m ever a renter again, laundry in-unit (or at the very least in building) would be non negotiable for me.
@Danielle Hawkins I’m happy someone agrees. I was starting to feel snobby 😅
I’m planning on moving to NYC at some point in the future. One of my friends gave me an idea for when I have to take my clothes to a laundromat. She originally lived in an apartment that didn’t have in-unit laundry, but there was a laundromat down the street. What she did was essentially put straps on the side of a flexible laundry hamper, then kept the clean clothes in a trash bag so they wouldn’t get dirty on the commute home. I’m going to be smarter though, I’ll be using one of my old army-issued duffel bags, as they’re actually mostly water resistant and can hold a lot
Cash your my go to guy for anything real estate in NYC. I asked cash to showcase more of queens units just a few days ago , and my man got back to me in the reply section right away, he is undoubtedly a man of his word. Thanks again brother much appreciated. Astoria is where I'm looking to relocate very soon. It has a lot to offer, late night cafes, astounding restaurant cuisine, and and much larger apartment sizes compared to Manhattan.
OMG, a classic pink and black bathroom! I have one in my 1932 "bungalow" in the SF Bay Area! And yes, it has a hamper (I store junk in it :) My upstairs bedroom has a laundry chute that goes right into the utility room where my washer/drier are. The pink and black bathrooms were very popular when Eisenhower was President--his wife Mamie loved pink and black, so these bathrooms were known as "Mamies". Very nice large studio and I don't think the kitchen is "ugly" :(
"Mamies" what a lovely little historical factoid, that's adorable. Thank you! (agree on the kitchen)

@SA S On my computer, the tiles are kind of peach colored.
If I had to live in a studio I would not put a separate bed in the space. I would just get a sofa bed that you can open up when you're ready to sleep. This would allow you to really use the space more wisely. This is probably one of the more spacious studios you have shown us. I love that everything is separated from the living space.
Is it just me or did your mood instantly improve after cookie and coffee? Glad to see you take a break, you work hard cranking out these videos.
Haha, you're right!
Doesn’t everyone’s
Mine sure would.
0:10 "the biggest studio I've ever seen for 1500" considering how many studios this man has seen. that's a pretty big statement
Cash not only an expert on real estate, he is also a world renowned food critic. 🤣😂🤣
water flavored coffee is the best!
@@Reefer_NYC yes it is. lol
Lol
Wish Starbucks would correct his taste buds because he does great advertising.
😂😂😂
Tub needs to be resurfaced. The “thing” was a laundry hamper in the day. The storage in the kitchen is amazing and if you don’t need it all for kitchen stuff it could hold office things, extra bathroom items, laundry materials, etc. I’d actually try to put my “bedroom” away from the windows and figure out a privacy screen by the door. For the price it’s a good space.
I totally thought the tub needed resurfacing too!
omg, that's my building! lol. great building, amazing hood, tho the 30th Ave subway stop is closer than the Broadway one. i have a one bedroom and less counter space than this studio! and yes, i have the hamper in my peach and black tile bathroom.
“You can get coffee flavor water at Starbucks” 😂😂😂. DUDE HATES STARBUCKS WITH A PASSION.
That's a hamper where u put dirty clothes
It's hideous crap that you can only disguise with foofy flavorings.
Not as much as he hates dunkin lol 🤣
He's right though. Lol
@@basedadri LMAO
Now this is what I call a neighborhood! So jealous that the laundry is just across the street! Absolutely love the black/pink bathroom. I'd actually prefer a smaller fridge and a pedestal sink in the bathroom. As an old timer I think it's scary that 1,500 is "a steal". But this is a nice studio! Thanks for venturing out of Manhattan but not into Brooklyn! 😄
A pedestal sink in the bathroom? Where would you put all the embarrassing stuff? I like the enclosed storage space under the sink.
It's a vintage built in laundry hamper.
He should know by now. We tell him with each video. Lol
@@panamasrose I know right. I think he's trolling us.
I love an apartment where the kitchen is a separate room. Most apartments now seem to have the kitchen either in a hallway or in one corner of the living room. Btw I have that ugly peach tile in my bathroom. Started to rip it out but then it kind of grew on me and I did a spa theme. It looks fine so roll with the peach. If it were me, I'd do a divider as you walk into the main space and put the bed on the wall farthest away from the windows. It would look like a hallway that opened into a big living room. You could use a standing wardrobe or a screen or a book case with open shelves.
Yes please, more queens apartments. This is a steal. I know the area and everything that this place is given to you is amazing.
Astoria is amazing. Probably was rented already when the video was published.
Love when a starbucks appears ... is the guarantee of a good laugh. 😄
INR! I always fall out laughing when Cash says....Coffee with no soul. 😂😂😂
I love the view of New York from your perspective. Great video. I have been watching you for some time now. Thank you. Great job.
I love this show! It’s taught me so much about NYC.
With all the cabinets in the kitchen you could use them for other storage besides kitchen items. If the rollingvcabinet stays I would put it back in the kitchen in the empty space.
Living next to the train is a luxury in New York haha. I'm super happy is two blocks away from the train lol
Pretty big studio my favorite for the price so far boss :)
Cash slays these videos, such humor and info in one video
Aww my old block! It's a great area, and right around the corner from Chip there's a great bubble tea place, a supermarket, a drug store and a ton of bars, restaurants and bagel places. Everything is right there.
🍪 cookies!!
That’s it, Astoria is the thing😅
Thanks Cash, this was fun, you are a blessing🙏.
Always be well🥰
Thanks man used to live in the city moved out but I keep tabs on real estate there via your channel. This one looks like one of the better deals for the average earning person. Astoria for the win. If I move back that’s where I will be looking first.
This is a great deal for the area. Astoria Landlords and Management companies need to step-up their bathroom & kitchen renovations!
Hey that one is very cute Cash! You could have plants in every room including the kitchen! It has a lot of potential and charm. The closet outside of the bathroom is great and could house a lot of stuff! Ha Good price for a big studio and definitely would be cool with the room divider and the kitchen prep! Love the bathroom too!
I would totally be interested in this if I was ready to move now. Hope you keep doing more of these in Brooklyn and queens around May!
Great apartment! Love that the kitchen and bathroom have windows-with great views!
Now this is what I’m talking about!😁 Love this studio!
I totally dig this unit and its quirky bathroom. I was watching another NY fave of mine this morning (The Walking Commuter) and he mentioned you and your disdain of Starbucks and Dunkin. I agreed adding that there are so many great local places you shouldn't have to resort to those choices lol.
Coffee-flavored water😂. Cash, you're a riot! Great video 👍 like Hemingway, a "moveable feast." What a great studio 😍 for someone starting out. By the way, that contraption is a clothes hamper.
LOVE IT! Pls more Brooklyn and queens
Crazy! Love all the space in this apartment. What a deal! Love the separate spaces. And I like the old skool colored tile in the bathroom. And isn’t this the second time you’ve come across the built in hamper thingy?
This a great vintage building with lots of character and great apartment , i love the candy red microwave.
That item in the bathroom...we "historians" refer to that as a built-in hamper...🤣🤭🤫! That bathroom is wonderful! Absolutely no chipped or broken tiles which is amazing considering the age of the apartment. Kitchen floor is horrendous but all that cabinetry is a real gem!
Knowing about the area helps me value the apartment, thank you!
Keep up the good work Cash .. I love your apartment Tours
Western Queens is the best! Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, & Jackson Heights.
Please do more Queens, especially eastern. thanks, i enjoy the videos. "coffee-flavored water" haha
very cool to discover you from the shorts video... in the future i will be needing your help to find me an apartment there in new york, in God's time.. lol for now, ill be hooked on your uploads..keep them coming..
So much space. Love this studio. My man getting out from work soon he gotta see this one.
Another winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rent is shocking.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would get coffee at Chip's. Love the size and the kitchen is great.....has a window. Great job Cash. Love to hear your comments about Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL.
Had one of those laundry hampers in my old Queens apartment. Loved having it!
The kitchen is huge for a studio! I would put a drop leaf rolling cart right where you said you could put a table. I would also put the bed closest to the widow and use a book shelf or folding screen for separation between sleeping and living space. Great price!
Another great tour :)
The nicest studio you’ve shown on your channel.
I love this apartment!!! The wall color and space are amazing!! I’d spruce up the kitchen and bathroom a bit.
A very nice roomy studio. That extra space in the entry hall would make for a nice cozy living area. I think you were looking at a hamper in the bathroom, which is nice. That El Station at the beginning looked real rad, it reminds me of how NYC use to look when they were everywhere on Manhattan in the past. Good video, Cash!! :)
This place is a winner. I'd make a bed-sitting area in the main room, and a table in the area outside the kitchen. Love the woodwork and lots of cabinets.
Coffee flavored water had me in tears 😭
Yeah, this is a good deal, good location, and enough space for one or possibly a couple. I like the extra space/area when you enter. I agree, I think you could get a small couch and mounted TV in there just fine (and still keep the island on wheels). Really good price for someone to be able to live alone in NYC!
Cash, I love the way you show us the places to shop & eat in the various neighborhoods. It's a nice touch. I just hope Duncan donuts doesn't decide to take you to Court; You're Brutal !
The apartment is a long subway ride from "The City." But it is priced right & it's quite roomy for a Studio.
Amazing studio! I like when you do some eating on the side, you know to authenticate the local food.
like it, that mini food blog that u did, u should do more of those, good luck man.
Love how excited you get, over a medicine cabinet. Lol. Thanks for sharing.
laundry hamper. Love the commentary on what's in the neighborhood!
I actually like the tiles in the bathroom.. retro but nice. And once again that is one of those ampersand's built in to the wall.
That's really good of you to get people thinking of visiting local restaurants. They're really hurting.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH THAT I AM MAKING A NEW CHANNEL JUST FOR REVIEWING HOMES!
good for you. use those creative juices.
I’ve thought about doing this too. Doesn’t seem to be anyone doing it in Cleveland
@@meriahmakes6870 go for it! i'm 16 and real estate is my passion i wanna own my own brokerage one day
This man does amazing edits people. Smash the like button, this is quality workmanship!
Agreed
I had the same old style bathroom before.
Watching you eating the cookie makes me so hungry.
I LOVE this!!! 😍❤️
The contraption in the bathroom is a dirty clothes hamper. Love your video❤.
Love this area of queens and there are tons of places to eat but that damn N W line on the weekends. Good luck getting to Manhattan when you need it the most.
The mid-century tiles in the bathroom are to die for! But I'm a geek for well kept mid-century tile work. That thing is a hamper. Great apartment for that price.
thanks cash for sharing. i love Astoria. i have a friend who lives there for the past 15 years. her apartment is small but cute enough and very convenient.
That is an interesting set up. That white thing on the wall in the bathroom is an old built in hamper I think. Lot's of older apartments had those. Very cool place!
Hey Cash, That thing in the bathroom is a hamper for dirty clothes to be stored until laundry day. Many older bathrooms had those back in the day. Love your videos!
Good space….just a little dark. Love that bathroom door! Digging the retro vibe.
Oh I do miss Astoria for sure! Amazing place!!!!
I see ur almost at 70k cash!! I really like when the kitchen is in a separate room in a studio, not really a fan of the bathroom but for the price it makes sense. The space overall is good.
Hi Cash - I am with you on the Starbucks coffee - here in Australia they have had to close most of their stores as we don't want their coffee water - we like the real stuff.
Hey Cash.. That's the built in laundry hamper. Wow original salmon tile and floor in bathroom. Original cabinets in kitchen. I would try to move the rolling cart into the kitchen. Flooring in kitchen has seen better days. Astoria is the food capital of NYC. Great for shopping as well. Bagel and Mexican restaurant looks interesting..And of course Parisi Italian Bakery has delicious bread and pastry. Trust me..been there a few times. Thx
I cannot decide who Cash hates more, Dunkin donuts or Starbucks 🤣
Me neither
Definitely Dunkin. I say that as a proud Bostonian.
Dunking, for sure+!
Nice apartment for the price and I love the old scone light fixtures.
I would also put in a bed with storage underneath and a trunk of some kind at the door of the bed. I would put a rug under the bed, then a book case to divide the space. A dresser with a small the opposite wall. A night stand against the wall with windows. A dining table could go in the space where the rolling cabinet sets. A couch , comfy chair, floor lamps, a mirror over the couch, small side table by the chair, a coffee table with storage, a large dresser or entertainment center with a fireplace enclosed, a wall hung tv. A closed up stand alone wardrobe with mirrored doors across from the dining table and a small portable cart near the table for tramsportingvfood etc.
I’m planning on moving out from family’s home in Westchester to NYC this year and this location looks SO good 😭 def subscribing and keeping an eye on this channel bc this video was super helpful even tho this apartment will def be taken by the time I start planning my move lol
Right at the train, too... faster into midtown and downtown than some locations in Manhattan itself.
That white thing in the bathroom is a laundry hamper. I had one in Forest Hills and it worked great. This apartment is so charming! I lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years and I miss it very much!
The spot under the cabinets could double as prep space or you could get two bar stools and use that as a table so you could actually use the space out next to it as the living room and have a real one bed
I love the starbucks shade 😂😂😂
This might be a great starter place. Get some nice wood dividers & you are all set. The kitchen is squishy but you have a bunch of storage! I like the bathroom tile. It is so art deco.
Was that thing a heater or dehumidifier? Looks like the is something on the bottom part & heat or something comes out the top- or is it a garbage can? just my best guesses.
There must be a s..it load of Dunkin’ Donuts in NYC because every apartment you show has one across the street lol
I lived in yorkville for 1year and Astoria for 5. Absolutely, move to Astoria- great neighborhood, good subway service, parking on the street, homey neighborhood with fabulous Greek food.
Living in Astoria made my stay in NYC bearable. Great neighborhood.
@ 7:43 the object on the wall u was pointing at was used for laundry. You would put your laundry bag or slim bucket to throw ur laundry at. Some used it as a trash can
woah this place is incredible! very very cool
Love this!
A stackable washer-dryer in the kitchen would have been perfect.
Some buildings don't allow it. You need a bath-sized drain pipe too.
I was hoping you'd try food places in the neighborhoods you show. Those cookies looked delish.
Bed placement w/foot by windows & headboard backing living area can create this own sense of seperation from living space. Place dresser behind headboard. Also, inexpensive adhesive curtain rod mount on ceiling can be thrifty divider w/ lightweight decorative fabric for personality.
Another cash Video with food review as a added bonus . I’m lovin it! I run on cash Videos
That thing in the bathroom used to be a hamper, now it’s covered with 20 layers of paint.
Love the built in hamper. Space saver
Please do more listings around this price range!!
Hey this is my old neighborhood! I was born in Elmhurst hospital! And I still remember this community. But now living in Miami, Fl but will always be a New Yorker!😊
I would recommend installing a window fan in the kitchen window (A range hood is recommended). Also in the bathroom window too lol
Heck if they glazed the tiles in the bathroom, it be a nice (& relatively inexpensive compared to new tiles) face lift. That old thing you point out at the end of the vid, that was basically a built in laundry basket! Friend of mine has that in her apartment in nearby Jackson Heights.
That huge Amazon box in your hall really needs to be collected! It's been there for like ten days!
I noticed that too - my cynical brain was thinking he uses the same stair run in the intro over and over .... lol
It may not be the same box. I used to work in a mailroom and some of our personnel would send/receive similar looking FedEx, UPS... boxes on a daily basis. As soon as one goes, another one arrives.
You have me seriously thinking of moving!
